  • Nice OP! Could you have a look and see if they have an Ethernet Port and of they're POE compatible please?

EDIT: Nevermind, found the manual here: http://www.vandsec.com/upload/downlaod/CD_SC10IP.zip It has an Ethernet Port but doesn't look to be POE which was expected. Still a good price though!

  • Having a baby in 2 weeks. Any ip cameras to listen/view baby from our iPhones?

    • +2

      Remote parenting at its finest.

      • +2

Not even born yet, already planning not having to worry about the kid

        • Haha maybe I worded it wrong?! Haha just after a baby monitor that you can view on iPhones.

        • @Bellpop: Any old smartphone around the house? Congratulations on your baby in two weeks time.

        • @alvian:

          Good idea. Thanks mate :)

        • @alvian: any app you can recommend?

        • @alvian: yeah but is there any that your infinite experience might guide me to? Might save me starting at the top of the list and working my way down.

        • @Jackson: Sorry but I do not have infinite experience with re-purposing smartphones as webcams. To be exact, I have zero experience points in this game.

@Jackson: Something like this is good. However the problem with using old phones as baby monitors is that they don't have night vision (IR). They do let you use the flash on your phone to illuminate the room, but that would more than likely result in a very awake bay!

But seriously, spend the $90 and buy a real FOSCAM version.
I bought a cheapie to use as a baby monitor and the Audio is HORRIBLE! It's bad enough waking to your baby crying in the middle of the night without the blaring White noise of a cheap, nasty microphone/amplifier.
An added bonus is that the real FOSCAM has significantly better picture quality and software updates to plug security holes.

As pointed out above, using an old phone as a monitor is useless because the sensor isn't tuned from night vision.

We do however use an old Phone as the screen for our FOSCAM works perfectly.

        • @scubacoles: Thanks for the info, I am actually not planning on using it as a monitor a child, mainly to monitor a few other things like a) if the spare parking spot is available or not in my block of units (you can't see it from the street) or b) the culprits who keep putting rubbish where they aren't supposed to so the committee can fine them, or c) the people who park in no parking spots so the committee can fine them. In which case most of the issues do happen in the day (not all though, and probably less in winter), but it's going to be harder to mount a phone and get power to it, and it is likely not going to be waterproof.

        • @Jackson:
I was thinking you were bellpop

    • You can use two iDevices as an AV monitor… paired via a baby monitor app. It worked really well for us.

  • Nationwide deal

  • Works as a security camera too?

  • how did you get it working on mac os x? i see only windows software in the link that was posted.

    • Having the same problem… Thought an alternative Onvif compatible app/software would be the way to go but no dice so far - can't even connect to it - help!

    • +2

Should have RTSP or RTP multicast streaming, so mplayer or VLC would be able to get the stream from camera.

      • Thanks - turns out its set IP didn't match our network subnet range which is why I couldn't see it. After fixing that I connected to it with VLC like you said, not a bad ip camera for $39!

    • Configuring the device requires ActiveX(Internet Explorer), but you can view the stream with most video players.

  • just picked one up, chose the $39 over the $29 because it appeared to look better on paper.

    • What coloured paper do you have? :P

  • cant get it to work on windows yet either

  • +1

One the mac I used these params in VLC rtsp://YOUR_IP_HERE//user=admin_password=_channel=1_stream=0.sdp
    found connection details here http://www.ispyconnect.com/man.aspx?n=OfficeOne
Just trying to get it to work in some other apps for monitoring next on mac. Have yet to try the cms software it comes with for windows but it's available here:
    http://www.vandsec.com/download.html

  • http://www.ispyconnect.com/ works great on windows, using onvif added no probs and captured motion video instantly!

    • tried that aswell with no luck..

      • does the default web interface work when you go to 192.168.1.10 ?
        Or this in vlc? rtsp://IPADDRESS//user=admin_password=tlJwpbo6_channel=1_stream=0.sdp

        • Neither, when using the default CMS software, it finds the camera, when i go to add it, it says "device not found" I have also tried entering the camera ip address and port manually with no luck.

When using the ispy software add device wizard i select the camera from the drop down menu, then on the next page it does a scan and only picks up my modem/router. After i click next it gives me a number of URL's but none of them work. : ( I have checked my computer firewall settings and my modem firewall settings but not having any luck..

Doesn't sound right I'd be taking that unit back.

        • +1

@mitcheo: when you see it in the software, change the IP address via the edit button to suit your router. The default address is 192.168.1.1. I changed mine so it was in the same network.

Also got it working in the iOS app that I have my current Dlink cams on.

        • @mitcheo:
I'm guessing the Port Number has been changed from Default (8080).
Do a reset on the camera..
If you have changed the port number you need to input the address as
          192.168.x.x:YYYY
where YYYY is the Port Number

        • @scubacoles: By do a reset you mean unplug and plug back in? the port number for the camera is supposed to be 34567.

        • @wikingpower: Ill return it today and try again, if not i can always get a refund i guess

        • @mitcheo:

By Reset I mean getting a paperclip and pressing the recessed reset button that should be on the back/base.
Port 34567 is very unusual.. try port 8080 or 80, they're the default ports for most devices.

        • @scubacoles: Port 34567 is not for the web interface. There is also a port for ONVIF.

    • Is a subscription necessary for iSpy to be useful?

  • Does anyone know how these compare with the xioami ones for the same price

  • For people that brought this item can someone please key me know if these cameras have pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) features? Or are they fixed and cannot move?

    • Not this one but there is a $29 one available as well. Lower quality but still with IR and PTZ

      • P&T but not Z! (except for crummy digital zoom of course)

        • Ahhh yes. Apologies!

  • I tried looking for one at the Bullcreek (WA) store but the entertainment dept staff said they have not stock security cameras for a while now. Same goes for the cannington store. Anybody else have any luck in WA stores?

    • Just been to Kardinya. They have about 10 left. Also about 8 of the indoor ones. I got 2 of each. Booragoon has none left.

      • Thanks. I called up Kardinya. They mentioned only having 1 more of the outdoor cam in stock and that was for $39 itself. Did you pay $39 for 1 or 2?

        • I got two indoor at $29ea and two outdoor at $39ea. One outdoor ones work fine. Have not unboxed the other three yet.

        • @rabbit71: Thanks for the inputs. am sure they should work well. cheers

  • Thanks OP. Got one works great. Better than expected for the price…..

  • More info on this Whirlpool thread
    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2362073

  • Now I can spy on the cats which enter my yard at night.
I usually see them and vocalize PSSSSSSSSSSS and boy do they run fast when they see me appear out of the black.
They work with Ispy the SC10p's

  • Just a heads up, according to the manufacturer the emailing when the alarm is triggered is broken and there are no plans to fix. They also said that the motion detection is broken and only works up to 6 to 8 feet(made no sense as the video is analysed, its not IR detection etc), this is not correct and it is more to do knowing the limitations and the contrast of the view the camera has. The supposed 720p appears to be upscaled vga. The IR LEDs show up red, and insects are attracted to the IR in night mode and set the alarms off continuously.

  • Also, watch out for the nut on the antenna socket being loose. If it spins, you could break the internal wire off. Two of mine had the issue.

The board is generic and possibly has solder pads to take a microphone input, alarm inputs, audio out RS485 and who knows what. If you listen to the audio as it is, there is noise, so the ADC is probably there if you want to get adventurous.

  • Mac Software here

    Other manuals, Software etc

On a side note I have tried installing, but I dont receive any display. When I goto 192.168.1.10, it is in Chinese, & won't display any video. I have tried 2 other surveillance software programs, with no luck. I think I have a dead one. :-(

    • The web interface only works in IE(ActiveX), from there you can select English. It will then want to install an updated ActiveX control from China. This is unsigned and will mean disabling IE security. The only details for the website domain the update comes from is a gmail address on the domain registration. The updated ActiveX adds a couple of new settings that can improve the picture. It's all pretty bodgey really. There is a USA branded camera using the same board and got the same update last year(Their's comes from a less dodgey website too).

Be careful with the update as if you install into CMS(where it should go), it will break CMS. The CMS app needs to be updated to work with the newer ActiveX controls. I could not find a newer CMS to use, so u end up with to ActiveX controls. One from the original KMart supplied CMS install(and opened from CMS), and the newer version with new settings accessed from the web interface via IE. I am just careful to only make changes through the web interface in case there is some sort of conflict.

      • Hi.
Many thanks. I took it back & exchanged it. Same issue. I was using Google Chrome, hence the issues. Using IE certainly helped. ;-)

  • I bought one and tried it last night. I can see the video through firefox with QT plugin installed. Tried CMS but that wasn't much help. I have tried ispyconnect in the past and might even look into blueiris again.
Could be ok for remote viewing, I have a small farm and it is useful to see comings and goings when I am away.

  • Plenty of these, the indoor ones and the door viewers in Australia fair. Thanks OP. Now the task of setting it up.

  • Can anyone point me to a "dummys guide" to setting these up. Failed with both on Windows 8 system.

  • Got it kind of going. Was trying to set it up while plugged in to the computer- has to plug into the router.

  • Took some fiddling to get setup but these definitely work. I changed the language to english using the included software CD as well as configured it for DHCP and added the wireless settings for my home network.

I recommend 'IPCAMVIEWER' if you have an android phone.

The first camera config (not the only one) to work with it is Make: A.V Sistemi Model: A.V. Sistemi 61xx DVR

Host/IP :Put in the camera ip address (or in my case my ddns address with TCP port forwarding setup)
TCP Port: as configured via the web interface or included software interface
User: and Pswd: as per configuration (default is admin with no password)

Edit: Also worth re-iterating that I had to directly connect to the camera via its default IP address 192.168.1.10 to set it up with DHCP.

    • Please walk me through setting it up for viewing via internet. There is a DDNS setup code underneath.

      • You'll need to setup DNS registration on your router then forward the appropriate port through to the IP address of your camera. This will be specific to your home router.

  • Can't find a reset pin hole on the camera, any ideas?

  • Still on sale picked up some for a mate!!

  • I picked one up for $39 at Woy Woy.

Configured via CMS and used IE to access the live feed.

It says it supports ONVIF 2.0 , I am trying to setup with Synology Surveillance Station on my Synology NAS.Anyone has success with this ?
