Qenergy 19.5c/Kwh Electricity. Supply Charge $1.14/Day [VIC]

21

Hi all,
I have been with qenergy for around six months now. I spent a solid day finding the best deal. I did not post it to Ozbargain straight away because I thought it was too good to be true. Now that I have had a solid run with them I am happy to post.

I'm not sure how many people will get this exact price as I think it varies region by region but it works where I am in Vic.

Best of luck.

  • how did they compare on the supply charge?

I have found that lots of pleaces that do cheap rates hike up their supply to make it equal out, or vise versa high rates, low supply

Any idea on FiT for solar systems>?

at the end of the day, there is no '1 plan fits all'. low usage people should go with a low supply and high usage should look for low rates with reasonable supply…

solar people need to consider if there is a fit and the above

    • Gday.
I have edited the title to show the supply charge. I hope it helps.

I just checked the rate for my area which is controlled by Citipower.

    PDF

It's $.30, $.21, $.13 (Peak, Shoulder, Off-Peak) excluding GST ($1.01 supply charge) so you must be in a cheaper area.

It's way too difficult to compare this way. Better to use Your Choice

What is so special about this? My rate is 15.67c/kWh inc GST + 99.743c/day for United Energy distribution. No deal. You must haven't heard about Powershop.

    • +1

Yep +1 for Powershop. zero supply charge!

      • U sure about that?

      • +1

Powershop do have supply charge, they just add everything in final unit rate.

        • Go on holiday for a month or so… come home to Powershop bill of zero… come home to Qenergy bill of $34.20.

Main reason for my changing to Powershop was their green credentials and investment choices.

        • If you play it right, you will even get cheaper rate. The rate I posted is just a snapshot of the most expensive Q1 rate. I never pay that rate ;) I paid lower than that

        • @SydBargainer: There will be a charge. Did you turn everything off- fridge, clocks, stand by appliances? Even so they do have a supply charge factored in and the lower your usage the higher the supply charge component so you are wrong.

        • @wxyz234: Powershop charge you a base price per kwh of electricity used. Use less, pay less. There is no additional supply charge; it's factored into the kwh price. There is no higher price if you use less electricity.

        • @SydBargainer:

Maybe it's different in Sydney? Powershop is quoting me (Melbourne/Citipower) supply charge:

MADE UP OF % OF USE RATE ex. GST RATE inc. GST
          Daily fixed charges 80.49¢ 88.54¢
          Anytime 60% 14.00¢ 15.40¢
          Controlled Load 40% 10.50¢ 11.55¢
        • @SydBargainer: Your unit price will rise with lower electricity use, as the supply charge component rises.

    • Does that mean Powershop is best for people with solar panels?
      Do they have peak/off-peak?

There is a wiki for referrals to Powershop.

  • OP, who is your energy distributor? Electricity prices are region specific. Often get different price across different supply areas. Citipower tends to have the lowest rates in Vic. Should be listed on your bill or check here: http://www.victoriansir.org.au/Links/Victorian-Electricity-D…
    (+1 Powershop btw)
