Better or on par I guess if you are just asking about the two brands not any specific models.
I'd much prefer TCL. They make their own panels and much more reputable IMHO. I have Panasonic, Samsung and TCL in this house and have been pleasantly surprised with the TCL.
Even the name CHANGHONG annoys me.
Well those aren't very good reasons to dislike a company. In fact, it'd be great if they used Samsung or LG panels instead of making their own.
Incidentally, apparently CHANGHONG also make their own panels.
Panels mean little if the rest of is crap. Just look at Kogan's 4K tv with an LG panel. LG have some of the best TV's on the market yet that Kogan has some of the worst image quality of seen on an LCD. Very unstable and unreliable also.
And compared to Bauhn at Aldi?
Course Aldi got the a Bauhn 55" with 4K Ultra HD LED Smart TV for $799 starting 25/3.

How long is this offer available?
it doesn't support 24P for cinema speed movie playback. if you enjoy blurays or MKVs, then sounds like one to avoid as you'll get stuttering and long frames displaying which will be really annoying and noticable.
I've been shopping for a new 48/50" dumb TV since Christmas
50" panasonic's came as low as $580 - shoulda snapped one up then :(This is no deal, this is their usual price… (even if the price was right, these have some horrendous reviews)
