$10 off Voucher on eBay

Just noticed the "deal" was removed, because it was targeted. The post was really useful for me, as I'd never have checked without being prompted to do so by the post. I have the voucher emailed, and so does my wife.
To those who didn't get the emailed voucher, it might be worth logging in to your ebay account, and checking which email address is affiliated with your ebay account. I initially thought I'd missed out, then logged in and discovered I'd signed up to ebay with an old email account I hardly use anymore. Signed in to that and sure enough, there was the voucher. Of course, also check you "junkk"/"promotional emails" (etc.) in-boxes, as well as just the 'normal' one.
Also, my email was sent at 04:00AM today (24march2015), so to those who were saying "damn, I just bought something 45 minutes ago" etc., it might still be worth checking; you may have actually been emailed the voucher prior to purchasing.

Good luck, and big ups to the original deal poster, even though it was ultimately removed. Many have evidently benefited from this, cheers mate.

EDIT (06april2015): I just bought something from ebay using PayPal and applied the "02" version of the voucher, and it actually worked (I completed the purchase and a $10 discount was applied to the PayPal payment). So it seems the vouchers have finally been rendered effective/are working.

    • Thanks, just tried the same.

  • 24 Hours after being told to try it again in 24 hours……. on hold for 25 minutes now :( lol

edit: got thru after 30 minutes. free $10 credit yay!!

  • Woah this worked for me SWEEEET

Edit Could not find email?? code still worked however

    • Did you reach and cheched in paypal?

      • i added the ebay item to cart click proceed to checkout then thats where you enter the code

        • Yeah but as soon as you login to paypal, your discount will disappear.

        • @cniminc: oh ill check

    • For me too. I did not got the email but it worked for me. Bought eneloops with postage for $10!

  • +3

I got the voucher email, then I got another email saying this.

We sent you an email yesterday with $10 to spend on eBay. You may have noticed that we experienced a technical issue with the voucher code that was sent to you. Don’t worry, you are still eligible for the voucher, it will be available to use from 30 March 2015.

    • Got the same email. Hopefully it works! Held off buying something today as it'll work out cheaper with the $10 on eBay!

    • Same, received the email this morning.

Also has eBay changed their purchase/checkout flow?
It now seems to commit you to purchase even before you can check/validate coupon codes like this one we received "C_YOURGIFT02 and C_YOURGIFT01".

And once you are committed you cant back out of a sale unless you contact the seller. Purchase/checkout process not customer friendly/flawed?

      • You can choose 'add to cart' instead of 'buy it now'. If you checkout from your cart you can add the code first and make sure that it works.

    • +2

My email says valid from 6 April 2015. They must be staggering the codes

      • I got 6 april as well

  • Thanks OP for bringing up this post. I would have mark that email as junk. Received another follow-up email like the rest.

  • Now to wait and see until 30th march..

  • Does this only apply to items sold by Australian sellers? How about stuff from overseas?

    • Correct me if I'm wrong, but from experience, it's anything on eBay, local or international.

    • +1

i used it for international seller, but thru ebay.com.au

  • Cr*p! I bought earlier this week for the first time in ages. oh well, you win some you lose some, I guess.

    • +1

It's still worth checking your email (including junk in-box) for the voucher whizzer; they were only meant to be sent to those who hadn't purchased for a year, but numerous peeps are reporting receiving it despite having bought stuff recently; most were sent in error, to anyone with a Paypal account email that matched their Ebay account email, methinks.

      • Gnarly, I am beginning to think Ebay sent this promo in error and it was intended for the faithful and loyal who patronise EBay! Like a reward , so it seems. My mom has an account and has not bought in years, she never received anything, I am a regular buyer and seller, I got it….?

        • Apparently it was only meant to be sent to those who hadn't bought from Ebay for over a year. Due to some sort of monumental f-up however, the emails were being indiscriminately sent out to everyone with a paypal account and an ebay account associated with the same email; until they became aware of the problem, and stopped sending out the emails completely. It seems they got about half-way down the list, because about 50% of ebayers with an associated PayPal account got the email/voucher, and 50% didn't.
Due to the screw up, it became irrelevant whether you'd bought anything recently or not. Whether they go back and ensure that anyone who hasn't bought in over a year does get emailed a voucher in the end, is anyone's guess; but I'm thinking they probably won't… They'll likely want to just forget the whole nightmare occurred!

        • Not counting too much upon the voucher working, so we will see come 31st March. It's only $10, but really, EBay could be rewarding their members and I mean all of them more often like this, considering it's a drop in the ocean.

  • +1

yep no need to contact paypal, voucher will be valid from 30th march

  • Any idea when it expires, it's valid from March 30th until when?

  • I tried using it (I got the email) yesterday and it gave me the $10 discount and then when I hit process it remove the voucher and charged me full price. I called PayPal and they refunded me the $10 into my PayPal account. They said it happened to a lot of people. So be aware if you do pay with it

    • I also got the refund after emailing paypal.

  • I got this $10 off promo too, and it's been confirmed there was a glitch and it could not be used then. You can only apply it after March 30th - that's when it works, and the promo code must be applied to the paypal page so it seems, it will not apply to non PayPal payment. Will test it out on a purchase when 30th March comes, also I shop so frequently on EBay I wonder why they told me that they hadn't seen me for a while! Ha ha.

  • Code working??

  • not tried yet. Will wait until later in the afternoon of 30th or maybe 31st - just to be sure. Even so, PayPal will refund $10 to your account should the promo not work.

    • Not working so far but its only 11:45 in SA- I thought it may be AEDT

  • Tried mine 30th 1:55AM Melbourne, not working yet

Follow up email said it should work after 30th March.. so maybe Tuesday it will work?

  • Just tried as well, still not working for me.

  • Just tried it this morning, still not working (and it also states my paypal account isn't linked to the discount - which of course it is).

  • They emailed me about the code being valid from 30th as well, not working yet!

  • +2

I got email from PP apologising and telling the code WILL work FROM 30/03/15 but guess what? It still DOESN'T work!!!
I just tried to buy something today, same story as last time… truly DISGUSTED with PP.

    • Yep same here! Got the email saying from the 30'th, tried just now and still the same error.

  • +4

    Same here, not working

  • Called up, 2 hours later still no credit in my account!! I want my $10 now, more than before, on phone ATM, last lady said wait and try in several hours and when I requested that she just credit my account instead she complied, or at least that's what she said.. Ozbargain OCD initated

    • Yep, same as the rest of you I got the email, then the follow up email saying they were shooting blanks but from 30/3 the coupon code is usable.
Won an auction, proceeded thru checkout using code which registered a $10 discount.
On to Paypal where upon completion it hit my account up for the full value of the purchase.
Phone call to PP and yes, they are still having problems, said she was putting a $10 credit on my account that should be there within 10 minutes.
Lo & behold less than 10 mins. later it was there.

Now that's paying for your mistakes to ensure that your customers don't get p'd off, unlike HJ's with their farcical bacon deluxe meal BoGoF scam last week.

  • Still have problems with the code.

  • +1

    Still not working. :(

  • +1

I sent them off an email this morning explaining that the code still didn't work. They have since replied to me, with the result with $10 being credited into my account.

    Thank you for contacting PayPal.
I apologize if the voucher code you received did not work.
You should be able to use it since you are eligible for it.
As a courtesy, I have given you a AUD $10.00 credit on what had happened.
Please log in on your PayPal account to view this credit which you can use for your next purchase or transfer this to your bank using the withdraw tab when youlog in on your account with PayPal.
We apologize for any inconvenience it has caused you.
    Thank you for choosing PayPal.

I've checked and confirmed that $10 has been credited into my Paypal account.

  • My 01 code worked now. My 02 for a different account still not working though.

  • I just used my code C_YOUGIFT03 which is the one I received last week and it worked.

  • +1

This is ridiculous! I can't believe my free $10 voucher isn't working. How do they expect me to function with out my free $10 that I am rightfully entitled to? :) /sarcasm

    (C_YOUGIFT02 still not working FYI)

  • 02 not working

  • +3

Just got off the phone to customer support who told me that the code will definitely work tomorrow (the 31st). I guess we will see.

  • I can confirm that NONE of the codes work for me: C_YOURGIFT01 , C_YOURGIFT02 , C_YOURGIFT03 (Just tested them all but had no intention of buying as I didn't commit to buy merely added a ramdon thing to my cart)
but it really doesn't matter as PP credited my account with $10 BUT if it was ethical to double-dip, get $10 credit AND use $10 discount voucher tomorrow would you do it?

    • -1

      Nope

  • Well after my second phone call to paypal, spoke to a helpful guy, asked him if the lady I spoke to previously actually performed a credit for me as requested and he stated nothing had been done. Politely stated I was not happy as she had said she would perform the credit; got my $10 and used it, then just went to buy some more CREE torches and noticed another $10 credit, yay

  • I got the email as well, and as others said - I use eBay/PayPal quite frequently.

  • +3

    Still not working

  • +1

The question is then, will the codes EVER work?

  • Just tried. The code is still not working.

  • +1

Still not working, how useless can they be?

  • Wasn't working for me early this morning. Ended up giving up and just bought the item any way since there was only 1 left.

  • I ended up calling Paypal. For the inconvenience, they credited my account with AUD10, but as my account is denominated in USD, it turned into AUD9.39 only when I cashed it out. The purchase I made didn't deduct the existing Paypal balance and took the full amount from my credit card.

    • Might do the same, seems to have worked for a few others as well.

  • No codes working for me :(

  • Do we need to launch a class action, contact ACA, be a member of the Stonecutters for the codes to work?

  • didn't work for me. sent them an email, maybe i'll get some credit.

  • It didn't work for me :( it showed up in my cart then said it was for another account…I clicked the log in button (to another account) and it finalised the purchase anyway and full price! Bit dodgy!

    • +1

Same happened to me during a recent purchase. I contacted PayPal and they said there was a mistake in their system, but they had re-activated the coupon for my account so I could use it again. I replied and said that it wasn't any good to me because I don't plan on buying anything on eBay for a while, and asked if they could just apply a $10 credit to my account. They happily did that.

    • How can one log in to another PayPal account if one does not have another? And if I vaguely remember having one other, it is not even registered to paypal. I did not pay for my product and have no intention to, in case they don't give me the $10 credit.

  • Today is the 31st. Just bought stuff from China, when I keyed in my voucher code, it gave me the discount as USD $7.44 due to conversion and the seller wanting USD payment, when I went into Payapl and logged in, I am told 'Sorry your account not associated with this voucher code etc" So annoyed, just left it hanging like that and unpaid. If PayPal does not solve it, will cancel the order and ebay better not blacklist me and let the seller issue negative strike. It's a matter of principle that the code should work and if not, I won't buy. Emailed to PayPal and EBay.

  • Trying to enter the code, and it isn't valid anymore…

    • Mine was valid on the EBay page under REDEMPTION code, but will cancel off once you log into PayPal to pay. Oh well.

      • I realised i forgot a letter, however still not going through PayPal.

  • So frustrating! Already had to pay the full price for an item that I checked out with the code, and didn't work on Paypal, and it was too late to back out. Now I'm trying again with another item, and the code is still not working. And it's already the 31st.

Update: Just called them. Was advised not to use the voucher code anymore. But they will credit PayPal account with $10 to compensate. yes, just like what everyone said above. :)

  • +1

You can call PayPal on 1800-073-263 6.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m. Monday to Saturday AEST or contact them via email through their website.

This is the message I have got from ebay help desk, so try calling them now, and they should credit your account with $10 since you paid. Helpdesk is talking to me now.

  • Hey folks, don't stress. PayPal has handled this problem very well. Just need to ask.

If you've already paid, call or email them (check Contact Us after logging in to PayPal to speed things up). If you haven't paid yet, tell them your trying to complete your eBay purchase.

Tell them your code and that it's not working and they'll quickly fix the problem with $10 credit to your account that you can spend or even withdraw to your bank account if you like.

Sure, a slight inconvenience, but hey.. Free remember… I'd actually like to commend PayPal for handling things so quickly (after contacting them)

  • what a bunch of bullshit

not going to even bother "trying" the code after already committing to buying something purely based on being offered that $10 voucher

obviously the people that dont care, have too much time on their hands and will go beyond normal levels of tolerative inconvienence just to get a 'bargain'

    • +1

i think it shows that people expect promises to be kept! And once you promise a $10 discount, regardless whether $10 is a no nothing bargain within the grand scheme of things, you've made that promise, and people get really cross when it's not honored. I will go through the trouble of getting back my $10 credit because I feel entitled since they offered it to me! Also don't want to cancel a sale and make seller inconvenienced since they have already 'paid' fees to EBay as soon as the purchase was made.

      • thing is, paypal have a history of doing crap like this, so it was pretty predicatable to see it was going to become yet another waste of time hence why i wont bother.

  • If the codes will not work, PP should let us know by email, saves people from trying again and again.

  • The cynic/skeptic in me believes Paypal know full well that this coupon won't be accepted and are hoping people are too lazy to complain to minimize their financial exposure.

Either the codes were sent out in error to many more folks than intended, or this is some very ill-thought out campaign.

Technically, how difficult can it be to collate a list of email addresses that the campaign was sent to, and then run some batch import/SQL query/whatever to update associated paypal accounts with the coupon and/or credit. Its complete bull$hit on their behalf.

    Social media

    @paypal please #payup #YOURGIFT #coupon

  • Was credited $10 to my account after emailing Paypal. Code still doesn't work though…

  • Was credited today too

  • Email from paypal on 27/3/15

    We’re sorry
We sent you an email yesterday with $10 to spend on eBay. You may have noticed that we experienced a technical issue with the voucher code that was sent to you. Don’t worry, you are still eligible for the voucher, it will be available to use from 6 April 2015.

So… those who received $10 credit are probably gonna get $20 after the 6th

  • +2

GUYS the code worked for me.

Didn't work yesterday or the day before but I just used it to get $10 off my purchase, awesome!

    • Yep, just tested the C_YOURGIFT02 code and it now deducts $10 off your purchase at the final Paypal confirmation screen. I already got a $10 credit though. Awkward. -.-

    • Thanks for the heads up! Works for me now as well :D

  • I tried yesterday. Didn't work. Sent an email… No reply yet. :(

    • Probably a good idea to try again now, seems to be finally working.

      • Already paid yesterday. It was strange though. Said the code was meant for a different account. Login the correct account here… And when I clicked on the link, it immediately paid the amount…. So am waiting for them to fix it…

  • +1

Holy mother of bargains- its working!!

    • Damn, not for me :( but then I didn't get the original email!

  • +1

Another confirmation that the code indeed works now

  • YES!!! Omg can't believe it finally works.

  • Can confirm C_YOURGIFT02 works.

    • +1

      Nice! Will try again tonight.

  • +1

working for me tonight. and they also gave me the $10 credit to :D

win/win…….. small dent on all the seller fees i have paid over the years lol

  • Has anyone else been getting this message once they try to go through the checkout? I've tried different browsers/cleared cookies, but I still get it every time. I received the C_YOURGIFT02 email.

    • Nope.

    • +5

Leave OzB now.. you left 17c unused. :)

    • Yeah, same thing happening to me.

      • Actually, found out it will only work once the cart total is over $10. Been trying to use this all week, haha.
