Telstra $30 Prepaid NANO (& MICRO?) SIM with 3GB Data for 50c @ Kmart

2420

Kmart is currently clearing out the Telstra $30 prepaid NANO (and possibly MICRO) SIM cards with 3GB data included. It says for iPad on the packaging but works perfectly fine with any tablet/phone that takes nano/micro SIMs (or normal SIM with an adapter).

Expiry dates on these range from April 2015 to December 2015. Make sure you check the expiry date because a couple I saw were already expired.

I'm usually not the selfish type, but I gave in to my greed on this deal. To save you guys from an empty trip, I have already cleaned out Broadway Kmart, Mt Druitt Kmart and Chatswood Kmart.

Edit It appears I might have been given the MICRO SIM at the clearance price due to a clerical error. It is in fact only the NANO SIM that is on clearance, NOT the MICRO SIM, my mistake. Edited the title/description correctly.

Edit 2: It seems that the MICRO SIM starter pack might actually be on clearance as well. I'll update the title and description again if I can get more confirmations that this is indeed the case.

Edit 3: Updated title/description. So a few people did manage to get the MICRO SIM starter kit at 50c too. If it helps the MICRO SIM starter kits I acquired all had 30 Sep 2015 expiry date on them.

Edit 4: If it helps you folks out, THIS is what the MICRO SIM starter kit I got for 50c looks like. White packaging with teal writing. It is NOT the pink packaging that comes with $30 credit.

  • People who bought at Garden City Qld, were you able to get more than one?

They would only sell one per person when I was there. And they wanted to take down ID details.

      • Ok. Policy doesn't seem to apply to other kmarts. Wanted to check if it was just one staff's decision. Still some left inside glass case, prolly because of the qty limit

    • No, one per person and ID needed… I sent in a few mates so….. Sorry

    • All Brisbane Kmarts I rang stressed the 1 per customer on phone & starter pack policy ;-(

Worse, when I asked if they had the iPad nano starter pack, all said yes. Chased starter packs that definitely weren't these through 3 out of 4 stores.

Also insisted on ID. Finally got 1.

  • anyone made any call to perth stores?

edit; 10minutes on the phone all sold out in WA.
'we have been experiencing a lot of calls about this item today'

  • Got last three from Stanhope Gardens :p

  • Tried Joondalup WA. She told me she had a few of the nano Sims, but threw them in the bin yesterday because they were expired. Lol!

  • Can we use this sim on Iphone for data only? my ipad is wifi only. thanks

    • Yes

        • @easternculture:

Thanks EC, i've been waiting for this sort of deal for awhile since I don't even have internet in my household, it's been like 19 years like this. Always munching on UNI and mobile data deals ahaha.

      Go Jewboy! Get into it.
      That's some good jewing!

    • Just quietly between us, isn't your username a bit defamatory toward a religion? I don't mind but just mentioning in case it causes offence to some other Ozbonites.

Dont worry I'm expecting up to 5 negs. Go for it;^)

  • I went to Kmart in Boronia today they still @$30 each. hhmmmm they asking who told u all about this!

  • Would love to know why some micros SIMs are 0.50c and some are $30. Packets look the same.
Barcodes? Expiry? What would it be?

  • I grabbed what appeared to be the last six at Chadstone at around 11am. I had called at 9am and asked for two to be set aside. That was after head office told me there were 10 at the store. When I went, the two put aside couldn't be found. The cabinet had an empty box at the front of the glass. It turns out there were six shoved behind the boxes.

While I was filling out six ID forms another customer asked for "the 50c data SIMs". I told her to ask the staff to scan the Micro kits as they may be sold at 50 cents. I didn't stick around to find out if they did.

  • I just bought the last 2 from the Marion, SA store.
The people in the "tech" department were insistent on 1 per person and filling out ID forms.
The store manager corrected them after (without my asking) ringing head office, that I could buy as many as I wanted and that they weren't entitled to check my ID.

just to confirm that only the nano one (lime text over white package) is on clearance, the micro one (teal colour text) is not. I only managed to grab one left in Keilor Downs VIC.

  • and free optus $10 sim pack at coles express when you use the ATM, useful for porting out of telstra and back …

    • Grabbed 2 of those today while chasing these elusive SIMs. As you say - very handy for porting number out then back to same Telco, eg Telstra.

Using the LongLife-Freedom plans trick, gives 6 months cheap calls for the price of a discounted Telstra Starter Pack. Then port number out & back for another 6 months. Outlined in the Telstra Starter Pack Wiki.

I've got several of those $10 Optus SIMs. All have an expiry of 1st Oct 2015. I'm going to activate them on the Daily Plus Plan ($2/day). It should make the expiry of the credit 6 months out from activation and will give me 5 days of heavy data use (500MB/day).

Was told at Kmart Bundaberg that I could only buy one. Got one nano for 50c, it happened to be the last of their stock.
    Micro were scanning at $30.

    • Same here … last nano @ 50c at 2285 KMart could have more out back. Micro scanned at full price. Expiry Jan16.
Strict person in charge made sure I could only buy one anyway and insisted all the proper paperwork be filled out.

Got the last two nano kits (expiry: Dec 2015) from Toowong QLD, although there were one of the micro kits but scanned as $30.
Tried to swap them with the micro ones at my local Telstra store and the staff gave me two free full-size/micro SIM cards. All I need to do: 1;activate the kits, 2; call Telstra and ask them to swap the data to the SIMs.

    • SIM swap is available free at Telstra Shops for all none-expired Telsta SIMs. They can activate & swap to different SIM size in the shop for you - when you are ready to use the SIM.

Swapping SIMs probably wont change the data expiry date (for those with expired SIMs it can't be done according to Telstra advice).

It seems several Telstra Shops have been giving away the $2 multi-fit SIM packs rather than perform a SIM swap (which activates the SIM). This has the advantage of a free $2 pack! So tell them you want to use the SIM at a later date, to get this free pack.

      • Last time I went to Parramatta NSW Telstra shop in Westfield, the Telstra sales guy said if you didn't buy from us we can't do anything for you. The way he said it guaranteed I would never walk into this store again.

  • 3 in 1 SIM Card Adaptor sim adaptor kits

or get a sim cutter if you ever need to change from full size to micro or nano

  • Went to Toormina Kmart in Coffs and they were still $30, got the guy to scan it and he said there wasn't anything in their portal about a price drop. They had some other SIMs at 50c, I think the optus $2 cards and that cheaper off-brand telstra voice card.

    • Had to get them to scan all the display at our local K Mart too…
Only the $30 Pre Paid Nano Sim for Ipad came up as reduced to 50c. That is exactly the item that this bargain refers to. Teal green writing on white background package.
      Staff knew nothing about it.
The $2 sims scanned as 50c also.

  • Went to Parramatta store in Westfield today, plenty of stocks, all scan at $30 :(

Just got a MICRO starter pack for iPad scanned at Kmart Indooroopilly qld and showed $30

Are you guys seriously that desperate for mobile data? Aren't allowances these days generous enough to negate having to stuff around with activating different sims? Most homes/work have wifi these days?

    • At 50c, I can get my mobile expenses covered for the whole year for $1. So, why not?

    • Living in Darwin now for 2 years now and I can't get ADSL2 or NBN connection even though NBNco stated that NBN is available in my area. Yes I am desperately in need of mobile data. Want to help me out?

Kmart at capalaba had it for $30 was 2 left in glass display cabinet and chick behind counter said they were $30 and didn't wanna unlock the cabinet so I could scan it to double check. But it might have been the pink one and they didn't have any of the others

    • That's because they had already scanned their stock when I was there Friday morning. They made the mistake of thinking they had stock when I rang from Cannon Hill :-( They searched but found no white iPad nano Starter Packs anyway, only the green phone SIM packs at $30.

  • Had 2 nano at ingle farm Sa but expired last year :/

  • If you find any stock, they are 25c now

There was 1 at my local Kmart, but it was expired

  • I think its no longer $1/50c.
I found one and it scanned at $30
