    • hush… its kogan! Don't let facts get in the way!!

How good is the picture quality? For the price 3MP seems too good to be true.

  • Odd, the cameras seem to be 3MP IP and POE which is pretty impressive (& about time!) and are available separately for $119 which isn't too bad but not amazing… however the features then state: "Can only be used in combination with Swann’s Full HD Network Video Recorders including NVR4-73XX, NVR8-73XX & NVR16-73XX for cutting-edge IP surveillance in super HD"

WTF? Are they true IP cameras or are they just saying this so they don't have to explain what POE is to the masses?!

    • +1

Hikvision has been selling 3mp IP POE cameras for around $90USD shipped to AUS for ages. great picture, works well and lots of NVR software supports them

      • Yeah, sorry… when I say 'about time' I meant it's good to see IP POE cameras included in an affordable pack instead of standard BNC junk… but thanks for the tip.

        • +1

Yeah BNC/Analogue cameras need to go the way of the dinosaurs ASAP!!!

        • wtf is POE NVR BNC or whatever

          care to explain the significance?

        • @furythree: Google is more than happy to assist.

        • @furythree:fury, 960h is at best 0.5 mega pixels, so IP systems usually start at 1.2MP, look up YouTube for comparisons, Poe means this has power and video combined in one single cable making it much easier to install.

        • +2

          @furythree:
POE - Power Over Ethernet meaning as per DealzGuyz above the camera only needs a single run of Cat5 type network cable to work but this means it also needs a POE switch to connect to. They're becoming cheaper and more common in domestic grade gear now but have only really been in 'professional' grade gear to date.

BNC is a Bayonet based connector for radio, audio or video connections. Nothing wrong with the connector itself BUT it does indicate that the camera system is very oldskool, only offers 'lower' res analogue signals and needs a separate power feed to power the camera which in most modern buildings & houses is just painful as most offices & homes are now cabled with Cat5.

          Hope this helps.

        • @SteveAndBelle:

so is this a good deal or not

        • @furythree: Hard to answer because it's down to what your needs are and what gear you may already have. If you need 4 cameras and 3MP resolutions and don't want to use a PC you may already have as the recorder then I suppose it isn't bad but going by the votes it doesn't seem to be very popular. I'm not up with these all-in-one kits so I can't really comment but maybe there are others with similar specs that have been selling for around this price forever? Not sure sorry.

Looks good to me. I was going to buy a system from china (ali express) but purchased this instead :)

Hi Guys, Thanks for your feedback on our new 3MP High Definition NVR system. We are pretty excited about it.
The SwannLink App allows you to view and playback footage remotely. Did you know this system provides audio too?!
Massari you got a great deal. Enjoy!

What is the difference between the NHD-815 which is included in this system and the NHD-820?

I saw that the NHD-815 is restricted to only Swann NVRs and is cheaper than the NHD-820, but how about the image quality between these two models?

      Thanks

    • I also want to know what the difference is between the NHD-815 & NHD-820, as according to the swann AU website, it is listing the NHD-815 as a 720p (0.92MP) camera, the NHD-820 as 1080p (2.1MP) and the NHD-830 as 3MP. So is the NHD-815 a true 3MP camera?

odd, on the swann US website, it lists the NHD-815 as 3MP….

  • I don't understand a lot of the jargon, so forgive me if I sound ignorant. Is the remote view and playback app intuitive and simple to use?
Also, will these cameras be able to zoom in during and/or after recording?

    Thanks

  • SOLD OUT!

    • 8CH NVR still going and the extra cams (NHD-815), I bought this because I needed 6 cameras, way cheaper than anywhere else, I remember they did this sale 10 months ago on there 1080P range. I missed out and have been waiting…

      https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/swann-8-channel-3mp-network-vid…

      • have you tried the Swann system and if so how do you find it?

      • Bit the bullet and got the 8 channel version with an extra 5th NHD-815 camera for $768.42 (after 20% discount) on Kogan's ebay store.

  • Ah, I decided to buy this pack only to find out today that they do not have any stock now.

Only 3 weeks after the sale and only after I inquired about the delay in shipping.

Did anyone else actually receive their pack?
