Best use for Google Play Credit

So what is the best use of Google Play credit apart from using it for Apps, Songs, Movies etc. I have around $100 in credit expiring in a few months time. Can we buy anything with it?

  • If you add more credit, it extends the expiry of all your credit believe.

Try the survey app if you don't have it already, even if you only earn $1 it should extend all your credit expiry.

All the credit I mentioned was earned via this app :)

      • if this is the case then I have to ask….did you answer as Chinese or not on the survey? …. not got $100 in credit here :P

    • Really, is that how it works? I'm going nuts trying to find things to buy because my credit is slowly reaching that 1 year period dollar by dollar.

      • Have you checked the expiry of your Google Play balance on the wallet page? It should be one year from when the last credit was made.

        https://wallet.google.com/manage/#paymentMethods:

        • Hmmm, you're right. Looks like I don't need to rush to purchase any more apps. Phew, the only useful thing I had left to purchase was Nova Launcher pro.

EDIT: Actually, has anyone gone a year since their first few surveys and not used the credit?
I read someone's comments about how the credits expire from the date they are earned.

  • Apps, Songs, Movies etc.

I thought thats all what you can use the play credit for… You're not thinking you can use the credit to buy a phone from Google, or even use it to buy groceries from Woolies right???

    • Lol nah not groceries but vaguely remember that you can buy Chromecast etc. may be I am wrong. That's why asked for correct opinions.

      • As far as I know, you can't purchase hardware (including chromecast) with google play credit. Since you have more than enough credit to buy a Chromecast, you're welcome to try to add to cart.

if you play clash of clans or another sort of game with in app purchases maybe spend it on there.

also buying more credit does not extend expiry.

possibly google play music all access subscription aswell?

    • Note if you already have a Google Play Music All Access subscription which you have linked to your credit card, you have to cancel it and sign up again using your Google Wallet Balance (you can't change a subscription funding source from a credit card to a balance - good one clever clogs at Google).

Careful if you already have one of the old promotional deals as you might not get it again.

  • Lastpass subscription

  • I was about to make a thread about this.
I would like to know some good subscriptions I can buy with it.

I currently have Telstra Billing set up so I can use all my "spare" credit.
    So far I have:

    Office 365 Subscription
    Pandora One Subscription
    Dropbox Subscription
    Google Play Music Subscription
    TomTom Subscription

Any other good ones I should look at? Any good VPNs on google play?

I wish I could use it with some US TV apps like HBO, Showtime etc… but I get a "not available in this currency" error

How do you do an office subscription through Telstra billing?

    • PIA and ExpressVPN both have in-app purchases, I paid for a new PIA 12 month subscription with play credit not long ago.

    • I thought they closed off those loopholes 4 or 5 years ago?

I've not used an android phone in a few years, but are those $10 nuggets of wisdom still a thing?

edit : wtf, this post is 5 years old (guess that explains why you would be asking about a loophole that closed long ago)

I see a mod had merged this old thread with a newer thread that someone had just posted, necro'ing the whole thing.

  • You can use Microsoft Word and I think the option to upgrade to subscription is in settings. Can't quite remember, I did it a while back.

  • I have credit that I had earnt from over a year ago but it's still valid. Anyone else experience the same?

    • Yes mine never expired, still valid.

      • I'm confused so the Gplay credits don't expire? I was going to buy a $50 google play card to redeem 1000 pts promo

  • Merged from Google Play Credit $$$ ($50). What To Spend?

    G'day mate and matess.

I've collected over $50 in GOogle Play $$$, through years of hard work in Google Rewards!

I've no idea what to spend it on - for everything, there seems to be a free alternative, where the alternative is very good!

What do you spend your Google Play credits on? What would you recommend, that is 'worth it'?

    • +2

      Google Music.

    • +2

      rebatr

      • U WOT M8

        • I'll repeat it for you, rebatr. Best suggestion in this thread so far

        • Rebatr. It gives you a 55% cashback rate on google credit to your PayPal account.

          • @realfancyman: Got paid the prior Saturday… havent been paid for last Friday yet

      • REBATR is now dead. App removed from Play Store & can't make purchases.

        • haven't receive this week payment yet.

    • I rent or buy movies/tv shows as well as google play music subscription.

    • google play music/youtube red

    • Play store only have apps/books/music/tv shows/movies.

There normally isn't a free alternative for books.

    • +1

      Pokémon!

    • rent movies usually

    • You almost have enough for a Chromecast

      • Yeah… na. Don't want one.

        • My Internet is shitty slow.
        • My tablet is good enough.

(Still figuring out what to do with my The GOod GUyz voucher)

I don't think you can spend Google Play Store credit on Hardware.

        • .jdhshehe

    • If you subscribe to a service like Netflix, you should be able to use your Google Play credit for that.

There are a few apps that I've got the pro version for, but they may not be suited to you. Nova Launcher, Textra SMS and Plex. I've got almost $10 in rewards credit and I'm not sure what to do with it.

      • Already got Nova Launcher from that sale (20c) - Not worth the hype IMO. I got it for the sake of it. Free one's good enough for 99% of users IMHO.

IMHO, most paid apps such as Nova Launcher, are not worth while. I'm looking for the big fish.

        • There's probably not going to be a magic app that costs $10 that is going to change your smartphone or tablet into an amazingly new device. A lot of good apps are very specific use cases. What would you want to do on your devices that you can't? Aside from getting pro versions of apps to remove ads or trying out alternate apps for what you already use, I'm not sure there's much aside from buying some games (if that's your thing)

      • don't think you can use Google credit for Netflix though https://help.netflix.com/en/node/42992

    • Merged from What Do People Spend Their Google Credit on?

What do people spend their google credit on? I have over $400 credit and still on old telstra molbile prepaid which allows to me accumalate my recharge amount for google credit. I occasionally purchase games and rent movies

      • Hearthstone packs.

      • Movies, TV and sometimes a game

      • Dropbox and Microsoft Office (using my Telstra credit)

  • Merged from What is the best way to use Google credits?

I have acquired some google credits over time doing their surveys.

As they expire one year after they are awarded to my account, what would the best way to use them?

I know it can used to purchase apps but most of my apps are free or like $1 max.

Can the credits be used in some other apps to pay for say netflix or spotify subscriptions?

  • Google Play credit seems to be virtual money since all you can buy with it is virtual stuff from the play store - you cannot buy any tangible or physical product. Is there anything real we can buy - apart from apps and virtual books/movies?

  • Merged from $30 Google play credits from Rewards app, what to buy?

I've been racking up google credits through their Rewards app and pretty much bought all games and apps I want and have $30 still and accumulating more.

Any way I can spend this on outside play store or any subscriptions?

    Thanks

    we need another rebatr app…

    • +1

I'm also interested in this. If somebody creates a new rebatr app, it would be incredible.

  • It would good if there was an option to donate the credit

  • $24.99 for 100GB 1yr subscription to Google One if you're a sucker for Google Photos like me (which no longer has free unlimited storage after 1 June 2021)

    • how do you pay for google one through google play credits?
it doesnt come up as an option for me
only gift cards / cc / paypal

Google Photos Android app is only showing a free trial which I don't want to accidentally start but it looks like this in the Gmail app. From the main screen I tapped my user icon then "Storage Used X%" then the $2.49/month button then my payment method and Google Play balance is an option. Make sure to use a free trial first if available!

  • Any better buys found? I got about $30 expiring and there's nothing in the app store that I want.

Are there any food services that accept google play credit?
