  • +1 for comparison to HN and AO. Seems like a great price. I don't think I'd buy a Samsung Fridge though.

    • We have owned a Samsung side by side for years and love it to bits and no probs yet :)

    • They had good reviews when I was shopping for a fridge (was choosing between Samsung and an LG) about 6 months ago. Ended up going with the LG because of features but from what I'd read about Samsung they were as good as any other half-decent brand so I would have been happy to go with them too.

    • I've had a Westinghouse for two years and we're very happy with it. At the time I didn't think Sammy's had a good name, maybe not in the budget range we were looking at.

I bought this fridge from HN last weekend… thankfully i saw this and rang them and they price matched and are refunding me the difference.

  • For those of you interested in the fridge, purchase it from David Jones. There's a partnership between the two companies and you get free delivery from Samsung.

  • Freezer on top? Avoid at all costs. Don't always look at $ people, you're gonna live with a fridge for a decade.

Make sure it opens the right way for your kitchen and ALWAYS freezer on bottom.

    • Why freezer on bottom?

      • Convienience, having to bend over for normal goods all the time is awful, 92% of the time opening the fridge is the fridge, not the freezer, so it should be convienient (eye height)

Its going to be a technical difference if there is one. They were all freezer on top for decades and worked perfectly fine.

      • It's awkward, because you don't use the freeze often, yet it's in the best eye / hand location, it's bad design.

Really? A fridge is easy to get stuff from, freezer however is often stacked and requires removal of various items to get to other stuff buried underneath it so having it at standing height makes some sense. I have bottom mount, and there are times I notice that my old top mount freezer was easier. But my point of difference was the 'avoid at all costs' part of your statement. Its anal at best.

Nothing wrong with flexing the hips from time to time imo

@Tuba: One you enter 90% of the time, the other you enter 10% :/ seems straight forward to me.

Awesome, one takes less than 5 seconds, the other might take me a minute to dig around and then restack so its 12 times as long. That was also pretty straight forward too,

    • bottom mounts are very expensive to top mount though. why such a price difference?

      • That I do not know, but I'd pay it, every time.

  • Going by the reviews, freezer on the bottom are less efficient.

They are. This is why they always used to be on top. You do open the fridge more so there's this idea that its more convenient to have it on top at 'human' height.

  • Thanks OP, bought one.. The sales rep gave me at $659, and got further 2% cashback / reward by using ING Direct card / AMEX card.

    • you mean in store?

Nice man, hope you like it, come back and let us know how it goes :)

      • Thanks Mate, sure I will.. Though I didn't find any review for the model SR414MW, but I found a poor review for another Samsung model SR394NW (however, that model is discontinued now)

Since the price was too attractive, so I couldn't resist and bought it… I see your earlier post that you own a samsung fridge, how is that going?

        • We got a side by side with one of those ice crushers and water dispenser and prob had it around 10 years and not one problem with it yet.

  • hi, is the fridge offer still valid? i am seeing the price as 899 on TGG website?
