  • Good deals for all across the fans category actually. Bought this one for $18 and the 55cm hi-velocity one for $29. Unfortunately the total additional discount ($10) only just cancelled out the shipping fee, but still a good deal. No stock available for any nearby store, hence why I couldn't pick up. I guess all the good deals have already been cleared from stores as expected :P

  • The misting fan sounds cool, always wanted one.

I have a Heller Misting Fan I bought 2+ years ago. In my opinion, it makes no difference to a normal fan.

      • +1

Uh, mine makes a HUGE difference!

In summer, normal fan = blow hot air
The misting fan is actually cool air

        • I went to try one myself at a friends to be sure, it does in fact make a huge difference
You can actually feel the cool air. Maybe it depends on the brand, I forgot what brand it was.

        • @zeckem: I think it depends on humidity to some degree. Better cooling effect in low humidity like Adelaide vs Brisbane or Cairns high humidity.

        • @CheepCheap: That's true. I'm curious also what brand do you use? so I can get a better big picture.

        • +1

@zeckem: I don't use a mister, imo not much use (I'm in Brisbane).

      • +1

I've always found them pointless as well. Sure they cool the air. For about 30 minutes until the relative humidity in the area you're cooling builds up and hey presto now you have a less comfortable area than before.

        • That's a fair point, What brand do you use? so I can get a better big picture.

I'm not a fan of these tower types.

    • +2

      This deal is fantastic!

    • They are great if you don't want to take fan blades apart to clean, but the rotating base bit is the biggest con IMO

      • Why is that? These don't have filter elements, do they? I've had a look at these types in stores and none of them had filters.

So if anything they would be more susceptible to getting gunked up (smaller blades moving the same amount of air) and even harder to clean.

I'm after something like a tower fan but with a HEPA filter on the intake, there's a lot of carpet dust in my apartment and it would save me time in having to clean surfaces of it.

        • So you want a tower air purifier :)

I didn't realise the ioniser is on when you run it :( I recently bought a Kogan posted for $68. That's a tower.

        • @kronicmacstigator:

The 'purifiers' come with ionisers and other features I don't need. I don't want to pay close to $100 for something that I think should cost around $20.

I need a tower fan with some filter paper sticky taped to the back :P

I've been eying that Kogan one, but I still think it is a bit more expensive than it should be.

        • @c0balt:

You can buy HEPA filters by themselves, but finding a way to properly get airflow through it to purify a room… that's the hard part

Just keep an eye out for used ones on Gumtree/ebay :)

These tower fan are a little weak they have computer fan or squirrel cage fan in them. It's good for bedroom use for someone who is sensitive to noise. Otherwise the good old 3-6 blade fan is best. Higher wind output, easier to clean and heavy duty bearings that will last a lot longer.

      • True that !! Tower fans makes more noise than the standard. Looks good in the lounge but not a good option in the bedroom.

  • Just bought one of the cheapies, thanks OP.

  • +1

Thanks OP got mine. There is stock in store at Harrisdale WA

  • I am an ex tower-fan user. Good looking but I wouldn't use it again because I cannot clean the inside like a traditional fan.

    I keep thinking C&C stands for Command & Conquer…

  • Great price @ 14.40, just picked mine up. Don't expect more than what you're paying, it does feel really cheap and plasticy.

    • I bought one the other day, but am yet to pick it up. How loud are these, just out of curiosity?
I only bought one as my current pedestal fan is obscenely loud.

      • They are noticeably louder than my expensive, metal pedestal fans. But only a little bit louder than my cheap, plastic pedestal fans. Not sure how else I could put this, but hope it helps.

  • thanks OP but why it appears $18 to me?

    • +1

Look in checkout, price will drop 20%

      • my bad. Thanks again

  • Good deal OP but $20 delivery fee kills it for me

    • You can't pick up @ your local?

      • No car and Nearest store is too far from me.

        • Bugger :(

  • +1

Was just about to purchase but all near me in Inner West Sydney are out of stock.. damn.

  • Got one last week for $20 ! Knew I should of held out longer , I bet masters are clearing these out for heaters coming soon

  • +1

Thanks OP I've been wanting to get a couple of these fans for a while now but whenever there was a discount weren't in stock for me, managed to get them this time!

I was tempted with the misting fans but I don't think I could stand the humidity build up.

  • Master said no stock else as it is winter and would be refund.
