  • i got the 46z5500 for $2200, couldnt find anyone go lower in WA

  • I really wish i could get this deal, it's very good, but i don't have enough money. With the PS3 claiming, if i buy and go onto the website and make my claim when there's only 1 left, will i get it? Or is my claim only completed once i've received the item, or once Sony have processed it?

Cause i want to know that i'll be gauranteed a PS3 if i buy when there's only 50 left, and i quickly go on.

  • i went to TGG Alexandria yesterday and they said it's sold out ..

is there any store in NSW that still has stock for KDL40W5500 because i really want it … :(

    • Yeah, I called around, and they're sold out everywhere around NSW.

But what you can do (and what I did) is, buy one now, and pay for the TV in full so you get the receipt and are able to register for the free PS3.

I bought mine from the Caringbah store. They're getting more in on Tuesday.
Once you get the TV, mail in the serial number and receipt within 14 day of registering and you'll be fine (I called up the Sony hotline and they confirmed this).

      • so i need to go to the store, pay them in full and tell them to contact me when they have stock ?

        • You definitely need the serial number to claim online so I can only recommend you make sure they are confident of getting more stock quite quickly.

You have to physically send in (and they must receive it within 14 days on your online claim) the confirmation email, the serial number from the box (or a photo of the serial on the back of your new TV) and the original receipt.

    • Went to JB @ Rouse Hill today and they were able to price match without questions asked. One left if you're still interested. Call up first of course ;-)

  • Its kinda of an ugly looking TV compared to the Samsung… and the image Qty also isnt as good as the 6 Series plus the samsung 6's can play mkv/xvid/divx files through the USB port but the sony PS3 can only play xvid/divx
Still an awesome deal.. Money talks in the end i guess and this is much better value with a PS3 then a free 22" TV with the Samsungs ..

I sold my free 22" tv for $390 :) back on the last give away 2-3 months ago when i picked up a LA55B650 for $3600 :) take away $390 and i got it for $3210 still a good deal for todays price's

    • PS3 Can play any movie files that your pc can play using media centre or tversity as a server. (Including H.264 Blu Ray Files) It can also play files from HD Sony Handycams at a very high bitrate 8000K +. I would doubt the samsungs processor could play high bit rate files. IMO if you have a big TV you will want high quality files. AVI/DIVX look terrible on anything bigger than an 80cm TV.

Just thought this was worth noting.

  • Deleted: was a mistake.

  • Thanks for everyone's advice!

We went yesterday, but there was nothing much to bargain with since the 40" was out of stock at GG's everywhere. Checked out JB Hi-fi, South Wharf and it was going for $1489, but again, no stock. We ended up with the display unit (a week old) at $1439, and grabbed DJ Hero at $110.

Still pretty okay with the price we got, and everything is in the mail to Sony! Can't wait for our PS3 to arrive!

  • I bought KDL46WE5, which is very similar to the KDL46W5500, for $1821 from JB a week ago. Had to haggle hard but wasn't difficult.

  • The GG website link is now displaying it as $1999, deal over i guess.
I think you could find other retailers still selling for $1500, if they dropped their price to compete with GG, and haven't reverted back yet.

  • only 900ps3 left , too bad next promo is BD player

  • it is just gone to 0

  • The last thousand went very quick. I got validated today. :D I wonder how long until delivery? I can only imagine what the logistics of sending 35,000 PS3's (and the matching receipts) out in the mail must be like.

    • I registered online at 19/11, received shipped notification today 26/11, should get before next Monday or if lucky tomorrow. Good job Sony!

  • Mine was shipped today too. :D
Validated: 25 Nov (registered mail seemed to slow the progress, it took them two days to pick up from the PO)
Shipped: 27 Nov (currently sitting at the St Leonards Bulk Lodgement Centre)

A bit slower than others seem to have experienced but overall a pretty good performace from Sony.

  • Bluray player freebie now, RRP$349 + incl concert DVD's valued at $98. ~$450 total value, but sale value on ebay will be much lower than the PS3.

  • Anyone that get 46z5500 for 2100 or 46w5500 for 1800 or less, can you please upload the receipt.

  • My partner was able to negotiate the 46" down to $1800, she was offered the W AND the WE model at that price, whichever one she wanted. And she also got a $100 HDMI cable for $45. You don't need a receipt, all you have to do is find some stores close together(best bet would be a homemaker city) and walk back and forth and you can get a price war going on ie. X is giving it to me for $1800 + this accessory, can you beat that? Okay, I'll be right back and so forth. I'm pretty sure that $1800 is the best price, the manager at the store got pretty angry when she asked for $1750 and flat out said no. Most places when $1800 asked for were pretty shocked that she'd gotten that offer and everyone had to run and ask their managers. Good guys, Bing Lee and J Hi-fi will be your best bet, don't bother at Harvey Norman, the guys wouldn't budge below $2021.
