Mortal Kombat X $69 on PS4/Xbox One at Target

540

MORTAL KOMBAT! Basically $69 on the release day of the game (15/4/2015 for Australia). I've heard you can pre-order at other stores like Jb-hifi at $10 and price-match on release date. Which is good, because you need to pre-order to get Goro for free.

Thanks whirlpool forums for the link.

Also, my first post ever at ozbargain. Hopefully I didn't screw this up.

UPDATE: Broke street date, so its available today at jbhifi and ebgames guys.

  • I seen that this was $99 preorder on PSN last night. Good job OP, keep it up :-)

    • Thanks!

    • Yeah same on XBL. This is the cheapest I've seen so far.

Apparently you're quickly learning not to talk about votes 😜

Lol I don't mind, as long as people see the bargain. I heard the game was region locked, so I just wanted a lot of people to see the deal and get the game so there's more people online to play :D

        • Doesn't matter what region the game is from when playing online, it should go on your psn account.

        • @linton: So if I have US psn account and ps plus on that, can I still play with my mortal kombat game from australia? What about dlc? Do I have to get it from australia or the US?

I'm surprised this game hasn't been banned yet (I'm glad it hasn't), lol I guess Target does not think this is as violent as GTA V then?

    • +14

Don't worry, there is a probably a SJW Tumblr feminist cooking up a Change.org petition carefully detailing why the game will have teenagers uppercutting women in to spiked roofs or something.

    • +9

Instead of the MSRB, Target prefer to get their games ratings advice from butterfly tattoo'd anti-vaxing gluten-free paleo vegan mums

Price match at JB or EB and don't give these guys the sale. :D

      • +1

You mean target? I don't know. Unless there's some preorder bonus, I try to buy from target. They've been pretty sweet with prices for games released this year that I really wanted, like Monster Hunter 3ds and Bloodborne, so I try to buy from them.

I wasn't sure if I could preorder at target for the bonus Goro character, which was why I mentioned jb.

There are still some gamers out there that are pretty annoyed that Target caved in to social media pressure and removed GTA V after launch while other 18+ material just as objectionable is still for sale

        • +2

          @Tal_Shiar:
I find it funny that people were so up in arms about it.
It's not like it was banned, they just stopped stocking it. No different to toysRus not selling adult rated games.

And on the topic of boycotting, I'd like to put forward EB games, their pricing is just ludicrous and takes parents buying games for kids for a ride selling at RRP unless you know your prices.

        • @linton: it's somewhat understandable , Target did however advertise the game next to children's toys in a catalogue. however, caving in to customer pressure was never going to be good for them. How hard is it to offer an apology and say we messed up…

        • @Tal_Shiar: Ah ok. Forgot about that entirely. I guess that makes sense, but it didn't impact me so I wasn't that peeved about it.

So no women being killed in this game then!

  • +1

10 bucks Target pulls the game from shelves 2 months after release.

    • Make that 1 year after release.

  • Awesome thanks! I will definitely jump on this.
OP. Can you chuck the release date in the post?

    • +1

      Done :D

      • Legend!

  • I saw this for iOS as well.
I assume that the iOS version is a light version of the console version?

    • +1

it's pretty much the same as the Injustice Port on IOS.

Stripped back game with Micro-transactions & "Wait to recover" .

It's at the right price (Free) it but definitely cant compare to the console release

      • cool. saved me a download.

        • Only reason to download it is for the exclusive character skins.

First time post, hoping to contribute something useful.

I just pre-ordered at EB Games for $99.95, I asked about price matching with Target but EB were hesitant as they believed Target won't have Goro DLC.

However I just looked closer at the Target catalogue linked to this deal, their box artwork clearly shows "Fight as Goro". I'm going to argue this point at EB Games when I pick it up on Wednesday.

    • Thanks for the post I as well have a pre order through EB games and was wondering if they would price match it :)

  • I have a pre order threw EB Games will they price match this?

  • +2

It's funny how in their catalogue, the PS4 version is rated R18 while the Xbone version is rated MA15+

    • +12

Perhaps it's less scary when you have less resolution?

      :P

Disclaimer: I have no idea what the Xbone resolution is

      • -2

Is it because in the gore of the game's X-Ray shots and Fatalities, they only show the Bone?

        GET IT? BECAUSE XBONE!!!!

    • There was a sign up on store advising of the error and stating it should be 18.

  • Is this available on Xbox 360 with the Goro DLC at the same price?

    • Last gen (360 and PS3) delayed until June

      • Thanks for the reply, do you know what the reason is? Is it just because the creators are pushing all their efforts solely on the new gen devices first and want that to sell?

        • +1

No real reasons were cited but there is plenty of speculation. But the last gen is being developed by High Voltage Software, and not Netherealm.

  • +2

Anyone know what's going on with the classic Dick Smith pre-orders for $59? Got so many from there it just doesn't feel right to go elsewhere and to pay more.

  • -1

    It's free on IOS.

    • if you don't know the difference between the two versions. then there is point explaining.

      • Yes I do, ios, inferior grahics, IAP Purchases, touch controls which needs to swipe.

Xbox, no IAP, better grahics, physical controlles.

        there you have it.

        • It's an absolutely entirely different game beyond any definition any Mortal man Kould offer.

  • They did the same thing for MK9. You preordered and got Kratos. If you waited a few months you got Freddy Krugar, Rain, and Skarlet

  • +1

    Gone?

Just followed the link for x and now Page is gone.

  • Just so you guys know MKX actually releases today! 14/04/2015 I already picked up my copy from EB Games thanks for the good deal @OP (They price matched with the Goro DLC)

    • JB Hi-Fi did the same when I picked up my pre-order on Wednesday

  • Yeah, game is out already :) Eb selling it now!!

  • FIGHT!

  • Same here! Price matched at JB Forest Hill and Goro is included. Finish him!!

  • Just picked up Mortal Kombat X for PS4 at Target in Parramatta Westfield's. Have to ask at the counter near the gaming section for it. Just mention to them that EB and JB have released it as well and they should hand it over. Price was $69, and I used a staff discount card to bring it down to $65.55!.

  • Just picked up my pre-ordered copy from JB Hi-Fi in Melbourne and they accepted the $69 Target price match! Thanks for the info guys.

  • +1 Picked up my pre-order from EB Games, they price matched with Target. Now the wait to finish work :/

  • My local JB HiFi didnt want to price match since the game wasn't officially out today, so i went to the EB basically next door and had no problems there.

  • Target online shows it as $59.99 - can this be used to price match??

    http://m.target.com/p/mortal-kombat-x-playstation-4/-/A-1659…

    • That is the American site

      • Well if that's the case $69 au is a score

  • Big W also has it for $69 if you dont have a target near you or dont want to buy it from them.

  • Just to confirm I just bought from target and it Does come with Goro download

    • Well, the code should be inside the box if it did.

  • God I wish digital downloads could price match.
    I'm over disk media.
