Seems to be the best price on this model but the store's 70% discount claim is exaggerated. The correct RRP appears to be $199 and you can get it well under $150 at many places.

Important to note firmware quality makes or breaks IP cameras. The cheaper ones are often unreliable (randomly freezes and become inaccessible) and features like motion detection/alerts can be too poorly implemented to be usable.

they are about $125 on staticice so it's a good saving

my advice is to download the manual and READ… I personally would never buy 4 and start wiring up stuff like it's gonna work out of the box in a proper environment…

buy one, play with it, see if it works for you… it does have analog out so it might work in a traditional closed circuit environment

it also is only digital zoom which will limit you and they are also not rated for outside use

still, a proper camera is from $500 to $1,000 and up

For those considering purchasing this, I have installed one of these (and several NT-IPC units) in a shop security environment and the image quality is only average, with a fairly shallow depth of field. Overall I give this product a performance rating of around 5/10, though it does present fairly good value for a basic IP security system. The supplied recording software allows up to 4 channels to be monitored and controlled.

  • All good comments - thanks.

  • Thanks for the bargain. We're considering using these at work, just to establish presence of surveillance. What's the night mode like? It's the cheapest tilt+pan+night mode I've seen, we use some TP-LINK IP camera now which is nice but terrible at night. Thanks!

Night mode is average. The built-in IR LED's don't throw a lot of light if you have a large space you're recording, but may be acceptable for an average 3x3m room.

      • You could put another IR LED array in with it to help out at night

  • Thanks for the post. The website mentions Vista, but does anyone know if this IP cam is Linux compatible? Thanks.
