The HORI Battle Pad for Wii U (also compatible with original Wii). Usually around full retail of US$24.99.

It's a Classic Controller Pro (plugs into a Wii remote) that looks like a GameCube controller.
The benefit is you don't need the GameCube adapter and it works with most games.
The only drawback is you require a Wii remote to plug it into.

Officially licensed by Nintendo, this control pad is similar to shape and function of the original Nintendo GameCube controller.
Simply plug into your Wii U Remote and enjoy! Features short stroke L and R buttons, 3 Turbo settings, and a large D-pad.
This controller can be used for Classic Controller, Classic Controller Pro supported games and most Nintendo Virtual Console Games.
Wii U Remote not included.

  • $15US = $30AUD? Ouch. Is our aussie dollar really that bad?

    • +2

      The $33aud adds delivery.

Sorry, fixed the title to make it more clear.

      • The Luigi version is now $23.77 instead of $16 and doesn't ship to my shipping address (Sydney.) Were you able to get it?

  • Man that controller sure looks similar to something I've seen before.

      Why mess with perfection?

This is a licensed copy of the GC controller yes.

        Not exactly.

        • Kind of a good thing - it's wireless (wired to a wireless Wii Remote), and as you said can be used in any game that supports the Wii Pro/Classic Controller (a GameCube controller using the official Nintendo GameCube Wii U adapter will only work with Super Smash Bros. Wii U, although third party adapters may have more flexibility.)

Pikachu, I do NOT choose you (at more than double the price)

    • I still chose Pikachu. Well, a while back, not at US $39.50.

An alternative to this (if anyone wants the actual gamecube controller) is to get something like this
    http://www.play-asia.com/gc-controller-adapter-for-wiiwii-u-…

It lets you use a GC controller with a wiimote, so you can use it on a Wii U with games other than smash bros. It's a little expensive (the controller+adapter package is like 50-60 bucks)

  • Mario version is no longer that price… $24.44 from Amazon.com now

    • I just bought one mario version for 15.70

      • Looks like it's available again at that price!

  • Any deals on actual GameCube controllers or Wii U Pro Controllers? I'm coming up to $50-60 posted from Amazon / Play-Asia.

    • Ozgameshop has the white gamecube controller for about 40 plus delivery

  • got my order today. they sent 4 instead of 1!!! very happy customer. comes to $8.06 each :-)
