Breville BCG820BSS Smart Coffee Grinder $199 Delivered @ Myer Online

One of the best Domestic Grinders on the market….has been at this price before, but rarely. Might be able to price beat at the Good Guys for an even better deal.

Best thing I ever did was upgrade to this grinder……. It makes a huge difference to the quality of your coffee, better taste, more crema.

but costs 3 times more than my coffee machine…

      • Don't supermarkets still have grinders in the coffee aisle?

        • +1

          That was so 1990!!!

        • @bargdebarg: I remember it from the '80s. Ahhh, the mess of ground coffee all over the floor and that intoxicating aroma…

        • @Thrift: I think that smell and grinding it at Coles as a kid for mum and dad is what got me addicted!

        • Do you peel your bananas in the supermarket too?

        • @tanabe88gg: Don't be preposterous. I use my faithful and dependable Qingdao Shengqiyuan SQY-XB-1.

Many coffee snobs will tell you it's not about the machine, but the grinder.

Fantastic grinder. I bought at this price last time. Couldn't be happier with it.

    • Do you grind directly into your group handle or into the container?

      • +1

You can do both, but I do it into the group handle.

Can you please update the model number. It is actually BCG820BSS. I was a bit worried when I couldn't find BCG820SS on coffeesnobs.com.au. But people on there like it and $199 is a good price.

Edited! Thanks for your attention to detail. Sorry for the confusion.

Easily the best entry level non-manual grinder on the market. At this price it's a no-brainer if you are after such a thing, whether you're using an Aeropress, French Press, Stove Top or even a decent espresso maker (Breville are confident enough in this grinder to bundle it with their top-of-the-line BES900/920 for what that is worth), this grinder won't be the weak link. Great price, too!

    Best electric grinder I've owned.

  • Note they also have the Breville BCG600SIL for $149 and the Sunbeam EM0700 Cafe Series for $271.15 (though I'd pick the one posted here over this).

I have it, i love it, i got it for $179 at DJ's a while back.
Well worth it at this price also!

  • Is the grinder on the BES870 Barista Express machine just as good?

Got it to replace a Sunbeam 440 (not sure of the full model number) to use with a Sunbeam 6910 machine and it does grind better. Apart from being able to grind a measured dose, the quality of what comes out is much better - finer and much more uniform. Seems even better than the grinder in my BES980, which I would find hard to believe as you'd think they would be the same. Could just be the settings, or that you get to see it fall into the basket in this grinder.

Can't help thinking that Breville will eventually add the BES980's auto tamping to this grinder.

  • Expired, price back to $299 already

  • Merged from Breville BCG800 Smart Grinder Myer $50

Picked up this grinder at Myer Colonades SA, likely to be the last one in Myers in SA. THe store rep said there is stock in Mackay & Tawoomba. Product has been discontinued to make way for BCG820 $299.

Orginally posted here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/191182 for $199. I'd upload my receipt but can't see how to.

http://imgur.com/Dgus5QX receipt here. Doesnt beat a porchse at $400, but I do need caffiene hit to go fast!

Take a picture of the receipt via your phone…upload to imgur…post the link. Without any proof of purchase/catalogue listing this isn't anything more than the Porsche I bought for $399.99 last week.

why? what would OP gain from lying about this?

        • There is a difference between accusing him of a lie and giving him instructions (like having some proof of purchase which OZB can produce to price match). Even if OP swore by the Old Gods and the New, and this was just a one off sale at a specific store, you think your store clerk in WoopWoop Ave middle of Right-Here-No-Where would actually price match it if it was not cataloged/scanned in their store for $50?

I don't know if I could even price match some fuel docket to fill up my $399.99 Porsche to get to that store let alone price match and buy it. :(

I've got two porsches at my house. A front porsche and a back porsche.

        • I am thinking of painting one of my porsches with epoxy, what about you?

      • I love how my instructions on how to improve the post was downvoted even though the OP did follow the instructions and actually understood my sense of humor. OZB! Love you guys! :)

    • $299 in the Hobart store for the 820 which has been out for a long while. No 800's.

    • I just called Toowoomba and Mackay, no stock.

  • None left anywhere in Australia, just called around and a couple of staff checked all their stores. :(
