SGIO Insurance Buy One Policy Get One 50% off [WA only]

40

As my cars, house & content insurance are expiring, looking around to find a deal and found this.
So I ended up buying total of 4 policies, with 2 policies 50% off.
Hope someone will find it useful too.

These sort of discounts can be meaningless unless you save overall.

I used to be with SGIO. I got all kinds of fake discounts: combined policy, loyalty, no-claim, etc. It means nothing if you pay more than elsewhere.
I left SGIO because they tried to rip me off on home insurance. One year to the next, they increased my policy by about half. They said my home was suddenly a flood risk, which was completely silly (I have the expertise and data to make that assessment, and provided evidence). They then claimed my council provided them with the data saying it was a flood risk. This was a lie, because my council told me in writing they don't even have any such data. I soon found out I was not the only one SGIO was trying to rip off

Moved all my policies elsewhere, and saved on all of them.

    • well i moved around (find best bargain) every year anyway and it had saved me overall, for now :)

        for now :)

        That's all that matters :)
Revisit on a year-by-year basis, since loyalty is not really rewarded. But personally I avoid companies which I consider dishonest.

  • expensive for building cover, try Alianz

    • From experience, I find that RAC has good rates for building insurance too.
SGIO uses IAG as underwriter, which means don't bother getting quotes from any other companies using the same underwriter (CGU, NRMA Insurance, NZI, State and AMI)
