I just wonders how stunning is the display… for $398

    • +5

      15.6" HD (1366x768), glare, 200 nits, 16:9 aspect ratio, 500:1 contrast ratio

From my brief time displaying it, I didn't notice a terrible display. For $398 nothing to complain about.

Wasn't the fastest laptop to run through the installation and start-up of windows 8. Nothing an SSD couldn't fix.

      Bit heavy @ 2.5kgs

  • Does anyone have this and can give us an idea how good it is? I need a new laptop :)

  • Is it the one that does not have DVD drive?

  • Does it have WiFi 802.11 AC?

  • Is it possible to buy online by price matching?
I don't see available any officeworks close to me.

  • Just called OW Richmond Vic, they have in stock but at original price. If price not available in Vic please change title.

    • +1

Price should be all stores. Been to a store today and saw the sign OP has posted.

Specs on screen show its AC wifi http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/39370/30001/image.jpg

      • +2

Someone tell me I wasnt the only one to clcik the X on that pic to close the screen.

      • never done that but I called the Melbourne Russell Street store as well and they don't know anything about it. So unless someone in Vic tells me that he/she bought it, I will not believe it! I am just saying it since I would really like to buy it!

        • See my post below.

  • +3

Looks ok for the money just a bit heavy.

  • +2

    phew that repair plan cost!

  • Which would be better? This or the HP currently on COTD with 20% off which is selling for $400 https://m.catchoftheday.com.au/event/46763/product/hp-15-6-i…

    • +9

Config wise looks the same.. But I prefer Lenovo than HP any day

  • +11

Officeworks will be easier to return than COTD if a problem arise.

    • +1

OW also offer a full refund for change of mind. So buy this while on special and if you find a better deal or change your mind then you will get all your money back.

  • +2

These specs are only ~$450-500 worth anyway these days. None-the-less, still a bargain!

  • +3

    Who buys a repair plan!

    • +2

      Tasmanians.

      • +1

        New Zealanders

    • +1

Dude the guy gave him $4 off, only a fool would pass on an offer like that!

  • +2

I got one yesterday and its very nice. Scanned up at $699 reduced to $398. not bad for a i3. Lenovo sells them for $615 so thanks Ozbargain once again.

  • Does this actually have a rj-45? from the images I cant see it

    • +1

yes it does. i got one here and just had a look. it has a spring loaded cover that hides half of it

  • Scanned at full price in Officeworks, Kew in Victoria
    Darn !!!!
So no go getting it cheaper

  • Team member discount….19.90

  • Just bought one at OW Moorabbin.

Gentleman said that they've had issues/recalls on the g40-30, hence the offering up of these at the reduced p4ice. A good-will gesture I'd say.

The man knew exactly what I was talking about as far as price before I even showed him the receipt/images/deal, etc.

Daryl was his name for anyone nearby. I'd happily post a photo but don't know how to via this WebApp I'm using to post.

  • Tried at OW @West Ryde..scanned at full price ..so they didn't honour this ..however they had G40-30 at $398 but that is just 14inch ..so didnt' buy ..

    • +1

      north ryde same

  • Grabbed one of these from JB Hifi two weeks back ($399)

Its an ok machine. Light work only. Found it a little laggy - not sure if its the hdd or the 4Gb of ram (probably the latter).
Lots of Lenovo bloat on it though.

It retrospect, I should have spent a couple of hundred more and got something a little higher speced. But too late now..

    • Lenovo G50-70 for 399 at JB are you sure.

      • Yep.

  • Did the ring around and found someone at an Officeworks who was aware of the internal memo.
So got one for $398! Setting up now. Screen looks good. Mouse pad and buttons significantly inferior to apple

    • which store ?

  • +4

Got one from Elizabeth Street Melbourne. Scanned at full price but showed them this thread and they reduced it.

    • Just got one from OW Highett, Vic after telling them about others. Scanned at original price but they reduced it to $398

      • someone just bought the last one at Glen Waverley (missed by 10secs)
Carnegie is all on hold or sold out
        chadstone - no stock

        • +1

Guy at OW Highett said they have a few left.

  • Anyone successful in Sydney?

  • +1

scanned full price Dandenong South, i believe they had 6 showing in stock.
showed them ozbargain thread. the guy said he wouldn't be able to do that price, he went and checked with the manager though.
10mins later, came back and said that they checked the officeworks bulletins, found the email and honored the price. previously they where unaware.

apparanty the other model was missing a windows key, hence the recall.

  • missing the one finger scrolling, chiral scroll. slide the one finger right hand side then in circles to scroll.

    • +1

After 3 hours 'testing' the machine.
Trackpad is the weakest part of the machine. Occasionally hangs and becomes unresponsive !!!, horrible trackpad buttons.
Keyboard prob second weakest - that said, it's OK. Keep missing the backspace key and hitting num-lock.
First login after account creation paralytically slow, but once running seems OK with Chrome and Google apps.
Screen fine - prob best thing on this notebook for me

  • Got 2 this morning at Nerang Qld. Thanks OP!

  • +2

Well I was going to pick one up on glynburn road in adelaide, but when the salesperson went out back to find the stock, he came back only to tell me whilst they had 5, ALL of them were labelled as faulty and to be returned! I double checked that he was talking about the replacement model, in fact I triplechecked and he was sure. He couldn't tell me what the problem was.
Could it be the problem of the original machine (a windows key I think I read above) is also a problem of at least some of the replacement model?

Just realised that the 'window key' problem is probably a 'windows licence key' sticker missing, judging by what I just googled. Is that right?

  • I have ring their sale number 1300633423 to order on the phone for $398,I have received mine today.you can mention that store one on OP receipt so they can conform the price with store.like they did when I order

    • You're lucky. I called the 1300 numbers twice and both times they declined my request to call the store. It really depends whom you talk to I guess.

      • same here, the lady spoke to Tassi store but they told they are selling it for 699$…

  • Thanks OP, scored one last night at Joondalup store last night

  • Thanks, got one.

  • +1
