Anyone have bought those in the past?

Wondering if they are really the retail version or they are just MFI cables.

    • -1

It is Said Original Apple and compared the price with Apple store.

      • it also says "Official Apple Product", if true this is a good deal

        • Lets screw them if it is not genuine.

  • +2

Are these Genuine?, as Groupon has screwed people in the past

    • I think so since they have specially mentioned it is Original Apple. Good to pay with Paypal, then you can get money back if it is not genuine.

  • +1

    probably not original genuine ones.
probably the chinese clones using orginal cable, lighting connector and usb port, but made in different factorys

  • +4

    Original like their Durex products?

  • These cables are terrible. I am hoping this is an indication of a better design being released.

The discount code is not working for me.

Only works with QTY 1, and you once it has rejected the code you need to refresh the page.

Doubt these are Genuine - they've lied in the past and provided counterfeit items.
Just look at the latest recall they had to do - counterfeit condoms!

last time I got some, didn't feel like the original…

  • "Lovebargin" ? Thought they wouldn't of steered away from anything that connected them to the thousands of fake lovebargains they released into the world (in the form of fake Durex's!)

  • -3

Does anyone really care if a cable is "genuine" Apple or not? I'm using a high quality short one that cost around $6.50 at Officeworks (thought that was dear enough!)

    • +2

It matters when you're paying $15 for it. $15 for original is bargain.$15 for aftermarket, expensive.

    • If it is advertised as original or genuine, that's what it should be, regardless of quality or price

If it is not the real thing, it should be advertised as such. If is it sold as a compatible cable, the most important thing is that it is of a reasonable quality for what you pay for and it works.

Non-genuine cables sometimes don't work properly, ie charge too slowly, won't charge and sometimes made of such poor quality that it's worthless.

Before buying a cable, it's sometimes hard to determine the quality, hence people buy original/genuine to provide that piece of mind.

LOVEBARGAIN didnt work but LOVEGROUPON works.

  • how can you tell if it is genuine or not ?

Seems like they are not sure either

    [Ramantha A] Hi, halfaznpersuasion!
[Ramantha A] Thank you for contacting Groupon. My name is Ramantha.
[halfaznpersuasion] hi ramantha nice to meet u
[Ramantha A] Thanks for the interest in one of our deals.
[Ramantha A] However, we do not have visibility on where will it be coming from.
[Ramantha A] But I can guarantee that verything that we sell on Groupon goes through extensive quality checks before being featured.
[Ramantha A] Often, we source products direct from the producer, but even when we don't, we make sure to check out the origin of the item so we can be sure we're not selling anything inauthentic.
[halfaznpersuasion] ah so is the cable directly from apple? just a little skeptical like probably a lot of other people
    [Ramantha A] I understand.
[Ramantha A] It says on the deal page that it is an original Apple cable, but I'm not really sure if the items are coming from Apple directly.

  • paypal protection is good enough for me if it turns out to be fake.

I have one of these from groupon. It didn't come with original packaging. Just yellow envelope that you usually receives when buying from HK.
Despite the disappointing packaging, it passed all the fake/genuine tests such as 'https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204566', 'https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ym0dvoyBFiw' etc, but again, you never know how it will fare in the long term. Fake ones work great for a couple of months then start to fail from my experience. I started use it a week ago so not sure it's fake or not yet.

    • Do you think the one you bought from Groupon is any better than the cheaper knock-offs on ebay? How does it compare to your original one? At this price it looks tempting but if it is not official Apple then it might be better to just buy one from ebay.

      • I can say yes. It definitely feels different from $2 ones off from Ebay, and more or less the same as the original one. As someone mentioned above, it might have been made by using original part. But please buy at your own discretion :)

  • Hi there. I enter the code and it doesn't work. It say 12.50 plus 3.95 delivery.

    • +1

      need to be log-in first.

  • I don't believe them

  • Has anyone received theirs yet? I got mine, no packaging. Mine is not working, not recognised, just nothing. Just want to know if it is a dud or a fake before I contact Groupon.

    • Got mine yesterday. Cable coiled in apple-like clear plastic sleeve in small bubble-wrap envelope.
I can't see any visual difference between it and my genuine cable after reviewing the counterfeit guide. Works fine so far.

      • Thanks. Must be just mine then. Damn have to try to get refund lol.
