  • Celeron® 900 (2.2GHz) - Powerful processor … yeah very right
    1GB RAM ??

I think the Acer one for $599 is a much better "Powerful" one :)

    • Maybe he meant powerful as in "uses far more Watt hours" :P

      • that has to be the only logical definition. Celeron 900 has not and never will be considered powerful in any other way. Maybe against a PIII?

        • agreed.

If celeron is powerful, I wonder what my c2d is:|

          Godlike?

          • +2

@massari: Powerful, as in it is more powerful than a budget laptop of 2-3 yeards ago for which this laptop will make a great upgrade for, at a very affordable price. Much better than buying one of those crappy Atom Notebooks with a single 1.6GHz CPU and small drives. It is a cheap budget notebook IMO.

  • Discontinued model, old school power sucking CPU, don't expect more than 1.5hrs from the battery, mediocre screen, small HDD, no draft-N support and you'd probably want to upgrade the RAM for either Vista or 7.

On the other hand it has everything a basic user needs, even a build in webcam, and a backup drive worth ~$70 thrown in.

MSY's closest is a Lenovo G550 with similar specs for $529 (better screen, but no external drive bonus of course), same at Umart, the closest is again the G550 for $539. OLC has the Compaq CQ61-217TU for $539 with 2GB of RAM, a 250GB HDD and the better screen, though. And you could get Officeworks to pricematch that down to $512.

    So overall a good deal.

    this deal is much better
    Toshiba PSLB8A-0WT05U
    Pentium Dual Core 2.16ghz

    Vista Business/XP-Pro downgrade/windows 7 upgrade

    • redtiger again?!
don't be fool with the Dual Core @ MLN when you can pay the same price for Core 2 Duo.

      • mate take it easy,
im not the one selling computers, I dont work for any of these companies.
you do your thing, if your going to post deals, at least make sure they are good deals.

        • as long as it's a good deal, the ozbargainer will post it here.

spamming around your "favorite" store is not a way to advertise here.

  • If you are in Sydney. Then this one would be better
    Toshiba L510/015
    T4300, Pentium Dual Core
    4G ram
    320G hdd
    ATI HD4530
    wifi 802b/G/N,
    HDMI
    ESATA
    Bluetooth
    for $599
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/19104
I suppose there is hard to find a laptop under $600 will have esata+hdmi+wifi N

    • It's really funny after a MLNer now it's Lapykinger :)

I know, it's really a pressure to have Pentium Dual Core Laptop in stock now. can you guys talk to mod about this, instead of spamming around?

      • Lappy King Rules!
Get the Core 2 Duo there
or go to OW and get a price match,
Centrecom has the same Toshiba Celeron notebook for $449.
they are doing it in store with 2GB ram as well.
So the shoppngsquare deal is just below average.

Agree! Shopingsquare deal is just below the average.
I am looking around my new notebook with LED backlight+esata+hdmi+Bluetooth+under $600. Lapyking one very very close my dream but just short of LED. Possibly I have to wait another year for new cheaper deal comes up :-(

  • celeron sux.*

*(no hard evidence to support this statement.)

What many of you seem to forget is that for someone who has under $500 to spend, it's fair to say 'this is better for ($5..) but for someone who wants to spend under $500 this IS a good bargain!
