scanned at $5 at the registers, it was by the entertainment desk (or was it layby?) and the lady there scanned it there for me.
yeah i had the same issue, they said it was scanning up at $5 AUD at Kmart in East Burwood, VIC. IS this all stores?

It's a mix up with the stores.
This store had it for Series 12 minifigures.
The one you posted, although it does state Simpsons series 2, is store specific.
I asked my local one, and they said they can't honour it.
Just checked at my local, scans at $5. Pretty sure store specific. Also, this is a new release so not sure why they are clearing it out so quickly. Thanks for heads up though.

Kmart in Belconnen A.C.T. do not have these. They said that they haven't come in yet.
This must have been a price error that has since been removed, Kmart Frankston said they were $5 too !!
