  • Wonder if they will PM Bing Lee for the Animal V6 who are selling it for $529 with the bonus kit

  • How about the product care? Worth it?

    • Purchased 4 yr product care. In addition to 2 year warranty from Dyson, I'm expecting to use the vacuum for at least 6 years.

      • +1

Also with your product care, IF your dyson breaks between that time period, and theres a new Dyson out at that time you can swap it for the new one and just pay the difference if there is any!

      • nevermind i found the answer

    • +1

      $399 in cart :)

      • must be a typo on the main link then

  • Thanks - went for DC45.

Added 5 pack of pencils for $1.68 to get the Amex offer

    • +1

I went with a Bosch cordless drill screwdriver for $15, to replace my existing unit, absolute bargain!

did you realise it's a toy? Lol

        • Yet ironically it looks less like a toy than the Dyson handvac.

        • Lol thick n slow indeed :P jk

How's suction like for v6 vs 45 vs no name? Online reviews tend to be hyped. I prefer the down-to-earth, "yeh it's good", type feedback.

    • +3

same questions here, is it worth spending more money on Dyson V6?

      • +4

The Dyson V6 Animal Has 100AW Suction Boost The DC45 Has 65AW
The Dyson V6 Has 0.4L Bin The DC45 Has 0.31L Bin
Looks like the cyclone technology is also different in both
        Hope that helps.

        • +1

Yes but without the suction boost both have a Suction power of 28AW.

        • @dy4me: That's a good point… so in normal mode they seem basically the same. I have one of the very early models of these and it's really good.

        • @domcc1: They are not the same, that air watt on the website is a typo. V6 has a V6 motor hence the name where as the DC45 has V2 (meaning older generation). It's like comparing the power of an iPhone 4 (dc45) vs iPhone 6 (v6).

Please do not use Air watts as a form of measurement in vacuums, its not a official form of measurement and it's just used as an extra form of information.

Reason why it's not used officially as different companies measure air watts from different parts of the vacuum. As some measure it from head (so end point of the vacuum) and some measure it from the motor/cylinder (where you definitely wont have the same strength when measuring the same machine at the head).

    • Don't ignore other brands. I bought a Dyson animal vac (not handheld) and it was much better than my previous vacuum but I didn't think it was worth the near $800 I paid for it. Traded it in for a Bosch and have been extremely happy. It can quite literally rip up my carpet it has that much suction (and did I mention it was cheaper?). Not entirely sure about hand vacs but Dyson are really great at one thing, marketing.

Hmmm…noticed - TRENT86 back to my familiar profile picture of him!

    • Yes, the bear has come out of hibernation

  • Dyson actually had the DC37 for $299 on their website the other day. Just had a look, but appears to be gone altogether now.

  • How about DC45 VS DC59, should I wait DC59 deal ?

    • DC59 is more effective at cleaning as it also has a V6 motor. Dc59 has been repackaged to V6, so same vacuum just different name and colour.

      • Thanks for reply. Is it worth spending $200 more to buy a V6? Just hard to make a decision now. Thanks.

        • If you are considering a DC59 (and can still find one) and V6, its essentially the same thing just repackaged. So honestly not worth the extra $200 for a new paint job and box art but each to their own. You get the same stuff in the box on either of them.

        • DC45 verses the V6 there is a big difference in sucking power and owners think it is worth the $200.
DC59 verses the V6 there is minimal difference so just go for the best deal.

I purchased the V6 Animal as it is pretty cheap at the moment at $529-$549 (RRP $699).
and if you purchase a V6 by the 17th of May, you can claim a $99 Tool kit from Dyson.
plus the $50 off from Amex.

i don't think you will do much better with the old DC59 even if you find one.

    Sweet.

I just grabbed the Dyson V6 Animal Handstick from Hardly Normal.
They only had the RRP price of $699 shown in store, though it was $549 on their website.
Good Guys had the Dyson V6 Animal Handstick for $529, so I got HN to do it for $520.
(Just FYI, I saw the info on the screen and the HN computer shows buy price of $508 and minimum sell price of $549)

So V6 Animal Handstick for $520
Plus $50 cash back from Amex = $470.
Plus free $99 "Bonus Cordless Tool Kit" (http://discoverdyson.com.au/promotion/) Ends 17th May

Great deal, and I get the new V6 model.

FYI, Amex emailed me an acknowledgement of the $50 statement credit with in 30 minutes of the purchase.

  • Cool

    • I am assuming you got your answer. I used a Westpac Altitude Amex, so i would assume other bank Amex card swould also work.
Just follow the link in the post to Amex and put in your card details and register for the Harvey Norman deal.

      • I'm thinking of using my dad's Amex card (and paying him back of course). Not sure what is involved in "registering" for the HN deal. Do I just pay with the card or is there a further step?

  • sad, got the DC35 @299 :'(

  • What is the battery life on the DC45 ?

    • only up to 20 mins

  • Hmm just bought DC45 plus $6 delivery fee, thats $305, so I assume its eligible for the $50 pay back?

    • If more than $300 was charged at once to your Amex, then is should qualify.

  • +1

i bought the v6 animal and it has replaced by corded dyson altogether. Due to the convenience of the unit, I now vacuum a couple of times a week (instead of once a week). It has no issue picking up pet hair on hardwood floors or on carpet. Great piece of kit!

  • good guys are now selling their DC45 for $299

  • I was going to get the DC45 but after comparing the DC59 and DC45 (Dyson V6) at HN, ended up getting the DC59 as the power difference is significant.

Got the price of the DC59 down to $480 and added a flexi crevice tool for $19.
So turned out pretty good with the $50 cash back from Amex.

    • I'm going to get V6 tomorrow if there is big difference between DC45 and V6. Did you get the animal handstick one ?

      • No I didn't, there was no difference in terms of the suction power for the animal.
The only difference was the small motorised accessory, so I guess if you have a need for that then go for it.

        • So you reckon there is no need to pay extra money to get V6 ?

        • @anzdeals:

sorry I should have my post clearer.
          DC59 = v6

Between the DC45 (v2 motor) and the DC59 (v6 motor), to me it was worth paying the extra 200 for the v6 (as you get the extra accessories as well)

But between v6 and v6 animal, the difference is about $40-50 and v6 animal just has an extra tool (both have the same motor)

Actually I just checked and the Dyson v6 is $499 on the HN website:
          http://www.harveynorman.com.au/dyson-v6-cordless-vacuum-clea…

        • fair enough, thanks a lot. Seems they dropped the V6 price. TGG is selling $529 for V6 Animal(http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/dyson-v6-animal-handstick-2106…). So I probably will go for V6 animal one since only $30 difference. No quite sure it's worth or not, however I haven't seen the V6 before. Thank you very much.

  • Picked up a V6 animal from HN today, was advertised at $527 in store, paid $520, happy considering its the newest model + the redemption offer. Performance is fantastic!

  • Forgive me if this is a known fact: but with the Amex offers, after you register, can you only use it once or is it unlimited within the specified period?

    • You can only use it once (per card anyway).
