    It's official, Trent doesn't sleep.

Trent is not human. Trent is an Ozbargain posting machine.

Trent posted this from his dreams. It was Inception!

    Thanks, bought a Nexus6.

  • How are the bands for the S6?

    • Missing 700mhz and 2300mhz

      • In specifications it says 700Mhz under 4G?

        • Should have been more specific. They need band 28 700 for Australia, not band 17 700.

        • +3

@DJ: Its disappointing retailers are not really informing customers of the 4G bands. Saying 700Mhz doesn't mean squat. Telling customers Band 28 700Mhz means much more.

        • @DJ: Thanks for clarifying for me

        • +1

@crazycs: Hi crazycs and DJ, thank you for your suggestion. We have updated the specification for the S6 G920f. Hope it will help to clarify your concern.

          @DWI-Admin:

Well you went half way but made it worse by listing the incorrect bands.

          G920F: B1(2100), B2(1900), B3(1800), B4(AWS), B5(850), B7(2600), B8(900), B12(700), B17(700), B18(800), B19(800), B26(800), B20(800)

Note to all the G920F is not compatible with Band 28 700mhz which is Telstra 4GX and Optus 4G Plus.

      Thank you

  • Grey imports, right?

Is the S6 worth the extra cost over the nexus 6?
    I'm on the nexus 5.

    • I also would like to know the answer to this question.

    • would go for S6

      • What is your reasoning for this choice?
        Thanks

        • All the reviews online slamming the nexus 6..

    • +1

I will go for nexus 6. Bigger screen with cheaper price. Samsung's product is always overpriced…

      • Yeah, I am thinking of the same…
Unless the S6 is 50% faster and hence more future proof.

      • The screen sizes are pretty similar once you factor in onscreen buttons on the nexus 6 vs capacitive buttons. Samsung screen is better than the nexus 6. The note 4 camera is better too. Then there's the stylus pen on top. Also offers a fingerprint scanner.

I had a tough time deciding on the nexus 6 or note 4, however the note 4 was significantly cheaper at the time. The thing I like about the nexus 6 is front facing speakers and vanilla Android. However I've been following the whirlpool thread and there's been a lot of qc issues with the Nexus 6, and I personally wouldn't risk buying a grey import.

    • +2

have you ever used any samsung devices yourself? i owned gs2 and have used parents gnote3 but the user experience is so sh1t compared to vanilla android that nexus range sports
was very happy with my nexus5, now nexus6 on the way thanks to OP

      • +1

Yes I had the S2. Yes the stock UI of Nexus 4 is much better than Samsung bloat ware…

      • +1

Well Touchwiz has been substantially revised on the S6 to provide better performance and appearance. Is a far stretch from my old S3.

        • +1

Yeah Touchwiz is way better on Lollipop than it was on kitkat. A vast improvement on my note 4, it still has the occasional stutter and lag. On the S6 however I didn't notice any lag.

    • +2

Don't listen to the other people shooting down Touchwiz in this thread; apart from (maybe) the G4, the S6 is undoubtedly the best android phone on the market right now. Samsung's own Exynos chip is a class above the Snapdragon 805. The camera produces excellent pictures in auto-mode, and that's before delving into the manual mode. Also, the 6" screen of the Nexus might be a tad larger than what you're used to, coming from a nexus 5. I used to own an S3, but after trying a friends S6, it really is on another level.

    Wow. Horrible experience.

So I thought to myself, yeah why not. Let's get one.

    1. Placed item in cart.
    2. Added Coupon code.
    3. Goto Payment. Don't see CC option via payment gateway. Only PAY WITH PAYPAL for CREDIT CARDS.
    4. Thought, yeah why not. Same same.
    5. See paypal total = another $12.5 on top of my paypal for paying via paypal. WTF. (Not my fault you can't setup your own payment gateway).
    6. So I click: Return back to the store to pay via another method. (I saw they had Direct Deposit)
    7. My order had been cancelled. I had to re instate the order, and apparently I have a $12.5 fee already due, even though I didn't put the order through.
    8. So I click "Re instate order". See total was without the coupon code. So Ok, I'll put in the code again.
    9. Code not valid. wow. I've locked myself out of the sale because their e-commerce system is horrible.
    10. Sigh. complain on OzB.
    • I met the "Code not valid" error too. So I use a different email to login to use the code.

    • my order went through without any problem… remembering my paypal password was the biggest problem, other than that, all good, code was accepted and i'm now waiting for an nexus 6 to replace my 1+1 which replaced nexus5 :D
try again may be? such a good price on n6

      • +1

        Really replacing 1+1 why?

        • been using 1+1 for 7mths or so, getting bored with the same phone.. i go through quite a few phones a year, costs only around $200 or so in terms of depreciation as i sell the old device via ebay or gumtree.
i am on a cheap-ish plan @ $26/mth with spintel so even going through a phone a year equates to something like $50~$55/mth postpaid contract plan (but with freedom to change network and handset whenever you want to)

        • @brucebruce:

Yeah but down from 64GB to 32GB……

        • @PLANT: the least amount of free storage I ever had on my 1+1 was around 45GB or so… dont think I will struggle with 32GB phone :)

    • Hi there,
Sorry for troubles that may caused to your order.
The coupon code was limited once per order. I think the order might had gone through our system already.
Could you please kindly message us the order number that you first purchased with PayPal?
      Thank you.

      • I ordered the blue one with premium express shipping and insurance, when should it arrive in Melbourne 3000?

  • Bit the bullet and ordered a OnePlus One to replace my Nexus 4. Hope it's a worthy replacement. Any suggestions on leather sleeves?

    • Ordered Friday and received phone yesterday (Wednesday) so 3 - 4 days shipping time. Very happy with the phone and as close to vanilla (some would say better) Android as possible.

  • +1

OT but how often does everyone replace their phones?

    • No particular frequency for me, although this year I have gone through three phones.

I had a Nexus 5 which got smashed running, went back to my Nexus 4 which also got smashed and then went back to my Galaxy Nexus which wait for it…. got smashed running… So I'm on HTC Desire X (which is also cracked and missing part of the front bezel) until the Nexus 6 arrives.

So I've gone backwards through the Nexus lineup this year :(

      • +1

        Nexus curse?

        • Don't text people while running on a muddy and rocky track?

  • Thinking of buying the S6, is the phone compatible with Aus? and any differences in their stock compared to the retail AUS S6?

  • +1

DWI have incorrectly listed the Galaxy S6 G920F as being Band 28 700mhz LTE compatible.

This is not the case, their listing is incorrect.

    G920F: B1(2100), B2(1900), B3(1800), B4(AWS), B5(850), B7(2600), B8(900), B12(700), B17(700), B18(800), B19(800), B26(800), B20(800)

The G920I is band 28 compatible.

  • To get international or Chinese version of 1+1??

    Terrible terrible terrible.
    1. Ordered via CC through PayPal Friday 15th in morning.
    2. Order cancelled in arvo due to security validation issues.
    3. Got into "chat" was told can only direct deposit now but unable to transfer back from CC to Savings…
    4. Tried anyway cause there was just enough in savings, coupon expired…
    5. Used my others email to try again through a different PayPal linked CC.
    6. Order placed with coupon (yay)
    7. We are emailed for photo ID. Sent verified and charged.
    8. Advertised as shipping usually a day after charges clear.
    9. Monday passes, Tuesday passes, Wednesday passes - order stuck in "shipment pending"
    10. Contact DWI for status update on dispatch.
    11. Immediately receive email saying they are out of stock and it may take up to 4 days to get stock.
    12. Account order status changes straight after to "Back order - Out of stock".

    What a shambles.

  • ^Based on feedback above, I would never shop at DWI
