Do remember before buying that LG g4 has launched so prices should be going down for g3..

  • every week dropping $5-$10 now, hope will see it goes below $350 delivered soon … need a bigger screen phone

  • +1

I ordered mine last weekend. Received yesterday. But box had been opened, with fingerprints on screen. Don't understand why the box was opened. Maybe some one might know why?

    • +3

Flashed away from chinese languge? Carrier bloatware removed? Power brick replaced?

    • i bought mine from eGlobal, box was unopened as it should be. Bad luck for you or maybe customs check?

    • The screen still had the cover from lg?

    • It's standard practice for grey imports. See here for a recent discussion

    • +5

Just contacted chat support regarding this:

CS: depending on our warehouse, they will open the box to do a quick quality check before dispatching the order

Me: Can you request the box not to be opened?

CS: this is no problem. Once you are in the check out area, there is a customer notes box in the last section. Just mention "sealed box" and our warehouse will follow this.

"Usual G3 spec sheet for Grey import (but I'm sure everyone knows it by heart now)"

Proceeds to type the specs - by heart.

  • +4

Come on G4 - get released already. My impulse G3 purchasing can't be contained for much longer

    • +1

What? How many G3's have you bought already?

  • The only thing I don't like is the soft buttons. The usable screen is only like a 5".

Is this code also work with something else?

    • +1

Soft buttons don't come into play when viewing full screen content. Not too much of an issue for me when the screen size is so large anyway.

I thought I would hate having primarily soft buttons, but I'm finding them fine to use, and the back buttons are really nice.

      • That will depends on the app some app will not hide the soft button when playing full screen video.

  • Just checked the price of LG G3 dual sim which is coming to $452, shipping is alos high from 19 to 27 which is unfair.

Yeah, I am using D858 with Telstra, and have tried iiNet SIM card (Optus) on it too which worked

    • +1

I am waiting for a good deal on a dual too.

  • +1

got mine last week, very happy with the phone it self…fast, beautiful screen, latest android version, battery last quite a while( I play clash of clans on mine).. and for 430.. it's a great price.

    mine was sealed though…

    • +2

      how long did shipping take?

      • +1

        2 days to perth

    • mine was sealed though…

Have others reported theirs was not?

      • it's for scaryface that said his was unsealed

    • How did you get Lollipop installed? I have the dual sim version d858 and its on kitkat with no update available when i check on the phone

  • I can't decide between this or S5. I have been an S series user for years but tempted to try something else due to: (1) Samsung TouchWiz lags despite using a QAD core processor (2) Samsung dropped FM radio from their S series and Note series (3) Samsung's look and feel cheap for a flagship phone (except for latest S6)
On the plus side for S5 is water resistance, more compact size, maybe slightly better camera, heart rate monitor (which I won't use)…..good to have solid choices in the $400 price range.

    • Go for LG G3, take my words you won't regret. I'm using one now and I love this. Fast, never lags, so much more.

      • How do you find the size of G3? I am worried it might be too big and awkward to use…

        • My worry is the soft button take up too much space. The actual screen is like a 5".

        • +2

G3 is very compact in size because of very thin bezels. You won't feel that big in hand.

        • @superforever:

          Yeah I prefer capacitive buttons.

    • +1

Yep, I played with both and decided on G3 and never looked back, really top phone, fully sick mate!!!

    • +2

LG has the FM radio, IR blaster and the thin bezels make it seem like 5.2" phone. I mentioned this before on OzB, people don't pay attention to this phone until you tell them its the same size as an iPhone 6+. It's way smaller than the 6+

There are youtube videos showing the LG submerged in water for at least 30 minutes. I'm not willing to test and prove, but having seen videos, it takes the worry away though.

    ……

  • Oof they're making this really attractive to buy. Have people had good experiences with eglobal?

    • +1

Bought two large items from them just last week, really happy with them. They seems willing to communicate as well.

      • Thanks dude.

  • ok ok i get it.. AUD climb means things from OS get a bit cheaper than they were 3 days ago.

  • $46.80 to country Vic sucks…hope DWI have another special on it too.

  • +3

A word of warning guys - the warranty terms from eGlobal don't cover items that arrive physically damaged in any way.

I recently bought a Galaxy S5 off them. Although the item was well packaged, the box had been opened. As others have said, this isn't incredibly unusual. However, the lens on the phone was smashed to bits.

I raised an RMA request, only to be told that the warranty doesn't cover physical damage. Full stop. It doesn't matter whether they busted it when they opened the box, it was mishandled during packaging, or the shipper screwed something up. It being DOA due to it being physically damaged doesn't appear to count as a DOA.

Their RMA department only responds to emails, and seem to have a policy of only writing once a day. You can forget about a quick resolution to anything. The live chat guys seem supportive, but it won't help you with relying on any warranty. Don't be fooled.

Accordingly, I strongly recommend at least insuring the item during transit. It doesn't mean you'll necessarily be covered, but it might help.

If I had my time again, I'm not sure I'd buy from these guys. It's probably all good if you are lucky. But otherwise, you are on your own.

    • +1

i feel sorry for you, but unfortunately almost all of these sellers even the one in australia will not cover physical damage..

i consider my self the lucky one.. since I have read few comments on few people that have the same issues as you or warranties.

hopefully there will be no problem with mine.

another way is probably check with your credit card, because some times there is a complimentary insurance that covers the purchase(I purchase this with amex and it comes with 6 month insurance, although I have not read the whole term and conditions). May be they can do something with it.

      • Thanks for the sympathy, mate.

I suppose the difference with some shops is that they will be more responsive. Certainly, if you buy a phone from a bricks and mortar Australian store (eg Dick Smith), and you open the box and the screen is cracked, they are more likely to take it back.

As a point of contrast, I had an issue with a tablet I bought from Unique Mobiles (online) - but the RMA process was pain free.

Good idea about the credit card. Unfortunately, it only covers damage that occurs after I take possession of the phone, not damage that is the fault of the seller or shipper.

I thought I should at least warn those on this thread, as I would have appreciated the warning myself. And I would at least have paid for insured shipping!

        • regarding the credit card ppurchase cover, is that what the policy wording says, or is that what the contact center person has told you?

        • @ankor:

I wouldn't take the word of the contact centre person. I'm with ANZ, and the policy is underwritten by Zurich (which probably underwrites the insurance of many other cards).

The policy booklet is here. The paragraph spanning pages 72 and 73 states:

The personal goods are insured anywhere in the world for 3 months from the date of purchase in the event of loss, theft or accidental damage. However, there is no cover until you have taken possession of the personal goods.

If you have any other interpretation of the last statement, I'd love to hear it!

Could the existing owners please answer these questions:

-Does the battery last whole day, say 7am-7pm with moderate to heavy usage?
    - Can you wake the phone up with double tapping instead of reaching to be power button on the back? Does it work every single time?
-Is the phone significantly larger than S5?

    Thanks.

    • +1

      Coming from Galaxy S2

-I'd say the battery lasts whole day with mixed light and heavy usage.
-Double tapping works like a charm.
-Can't compare to S5 but phone feels comfortable inhands (not too big, not too small. Compared to S2, this is way bigger.)

    • I used to use S4, but have not played with S5,overall it feels lots bigger than s4..

with my current new phone (a week old), it lasts more than 12 hours. I use the phone to play games, and it takes lots of battery. the save battery option is quite handy. ( part of the new android update)

Personally I don't like the tapping so I don't use it, but it works when I tried.

I am used to sleep button at the site or at the top, so it takes quite some time to adjust with the sleep button at the back, and some times you tend to touch your camera lens.

      1. Depends what you define as moderate to heavy usage, but I would say yes. I rarely have any issue until 10pm or so if I don't charge it during the day. The phone charges very quickly with the right charger, and a spare battery would help a lot if you don't have charging available to you. Battery life is on par with most modern phones, I would say.
      2. Yes, it's fantastic. I try to do it on other phones now. Even better, you can make the taps your lock code.
      3. The first day I tried it, it was admittedly a bit awkward. Since then, I haven't had an issue. It feels very natural, the buttons in the middle on the back is perfect for this screen size (if they were on the sides or the top, I think I'd have more issues). The bezel is very thin - the screen size is the same as the iPhone 6 Plus, but the actual phone is nowhere near that size.
    • Thanks guys.

    • +1

The double tap to wake was pioneered by LG with their G2. The rest (namely HTC) followed

      • Don't you mean Nokia?

Nokia had double tap to wake on their phones a long time before the G2. :)

        • Oh really?

Well, in that case, I meant that LG made it popular with their g2 :D

  • +1

I purchased the LG G3 a few months ago (from a different company).

    Pros:
    Great display size/pixel density
    Excellent camera
    Back buttons feel very natural
    Great specs for the price
SD Card slot and removable battery
    Minimal bloatware Android

    Cons:
Slight lag on the app screen
    Battery life is average
    Screen could be slightly brighter

I've been really happy with this phone so far. I was concerned about the screen size, but that took literally one day for me to adjust (and I don't have large hands). It has a bunch of great little features that really add to the experience of using it. Battery life is better than my old phone (HTC One M7) and it charges very fast anyway which has made that not an issue. Also love that I could easily add storage.

I highly recommend the phone to anyone looking for a phone at this price range.

    • are you on stock lollipop?

      • +2

KitKat 4.4.2. I'm rooted (still stock though) and running xposed, there are some issues with xposed on Lollipop

        • what sot of SOT are you getting?

        • @smerm07: I haven't checked it since the first couple of days so I'm not sure of the SoT for my particular phone, there are plenty of places online to check out other's reports though (www.reddit.com/r/LGG3/ for example)

My typical day has about 2 hours travelling where I use it constantly, plus intermittent use throughout the day. Phone battery gets very low at about 10pm if I don't charge it in the day, but typically I give it a boost while at work too and never have any issues.

I charge overnight but if I forget for whatever reason, I've still got plenty of battery in the morning.

  • Great price considering the G4 will probably debut at $800 or more.

    • +1

Ordered Sunday, still not shipped. Status is "Processing". I requested a sealed box though, will let you know.

  • I caved in to upgrade my old Samsung S3 to this. Hopefully the soft button doesnt bother the hell out of me!

    • Out of interest - I asked for a sealed box, but it definitely wasnt sealed.

  • Does anyone know if the prepaid 4G Dodo sim works in the LG G3 32gb?
