Was searching for a dryer and came across this price. Next cheapest I could find was $839 here: http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/bosch-7kg-sensor-dryer-wta7420…

Didn't end up buying as it turns out I don't have the money but thought someone may be in the market.

    Bosch makes great appliances.

  • Never used a dryer before, how long is the normal cycle and are they dry to wear after it's done?

    • depends on the dryer, a half load in a 4kg? (I'll have to check, might be 6kg) - takes ~71mins on high or 150mins on low. Depends on the drying instructions on your tags.

      Yes.

    • Depends how much you put in them, I have a sensor dryer like this one so you just hit go and wait for it to tell you it's done, there's no countdown on the time though like newer washers, it senses the moisture in the output AFAIK

    • Wow, yet you own a device that connects to the internet!

've owned clothes driers since the 1980's. Would never consider not having one available.

      • Only about 55% of aussie households have a clothes dryer, so it's not as prevalent as you would think.

And its a condenser dryer no vent needed

    • In terms of energy use, condenser dryers typically require slightly more power than conventional dryers, typically on the order of ~15% (source)

    • condenser dryer is a joke, expensive but doesn't save you anything, with that amount of money and a bit more, better invest in the heat pump one.

      • I live in a inner-city apartment with a non-vented bathroom , Washer-Dryer ( Condenser Dryer ) is my best option.

I just looked at heat pump dryers their prices start at $1500+ for the cheapest one !. My mid-range Washer+Dryer costs less than the cheapest Heat-Pump Dryer Only !

Although,I agree Washer-Dryer is less efficient.

But My unit is inside my on-suite bathroom where i sleep and it is pretty quiet, i can start the cycle before bedtime and wake up to a finished load "cupboard-Dry" or "extra-Dry"

Every Persons Value Proposition is different !

We've been using a $150 Hoover dryer for about twenty years that vents through a rotating filter screen in the door. Works fine if you leave a window or door ajar to disperse the condensation. $749 seems like a lot of money for a dryer, the clothes don't know its a prestige marque… :-( .. !! But of course if you have the money to throw around…..

    • Its also sensor which helps, and probably a lot more power efficient from both being sensor and being newer.

    • I have one of those, still using it, with a broken latch (I have to wedge something against it for it to work). Don't suppose you know where I can get parts for it? I prefer the Hoover style with the front vent. Cannot count the number of times I burnt my arm when trying to clean the filter located in the rear of the drum on my much older dryer.

google the model, or part number. I got a door for a dryer for under $50 (can't remember exact $).

        • Thanks, will do

  • Why isn't it wall mountable?

edit: and how do you vent it when it's sitting on the ground?

    • and how do you vent it when it's sitting on the ground?

      Look up

      • This one isn't a condenser.

I see. Should've spent a bit more time reading before making a smart arse comment…apologies

    • how do you vent it when it's sitting on the ground?

The same way that you vent it when it's on a wall. You make a hole in the wall.

Or run the vent up at the back, or out the side.

It's in the Installation instructions, which can be downloaded from the Bosch website

Ok, so in an ideal world where I'm rich.. what are the dryer technologies and what is best? eg: 1) Heat pump, 2) condensor, 3) retro whatever

    • +1

      They all dry clothes.

Heat pump will cost the most, use the least power.

Condensor will collect the water that it extracts,

Sensor is the most important, so that it switches off when desired level of dryness is achieved. Otherwise how can you possibly guess how long to set the Timer for?

Retro is a old Hoover dryer. Just cheap crap.
