Lots of councils offer this, but be warned; what you are getting is simply the green-waste that other residents have brought to the council tip, that the council has then mulched up. It's not heat-treated or anything (at least not at my council tip), it's just mulched up. So it can and does contain just about anything and everything. Not a problem if you were using it to feed to your worms or sommat I suppose, but if you were to put it straight onto your garden, you would potentially be introducing a myriad of new weeds (etc.), via seed.

  Very valid point, and sadly just the tip of the iceburge. New herbicides like aminopyralid can destroy a garden and render in uninhabitable for any plants other than grass for years. Always good practice to test unknown substances on a small patch of garden before spreading it around.
