This normally retails for $139.90 but I saw in store for $50 and the deal is also available online.

It says save $30 but the actual price is 139.90. As a comparison, Target sells them for $150.

We borrowed one from friends and have been using it for a while and compared to other products (including microwave ones) we found this to be quicker and very easy to use.

The Closer To Nature Electric Steam Steriliser is perfect for when you need to use feeding equipment or accessories as soon as possible, or to prepare them for later use (for example you could sterilise your baby feeding equipment in the evening, ready to be used the next morning). The electric steriliser has a large interior space and can hold up to six bottles at a time, along with smaller accessories. The sleek design means it will not take up as much space on your worktop as other sterilisers. This Closer to Nature steriliser includes a Closer to Nature's bottle, a Closer to Nature soother and a pair of teat tongs to lift bottle teats out of the steriliser and prevent contamination.

Similar deals include bottle warmer (http://www.bigw.com.au/product/closer-to-nature-electric-bot…) and Formula Preparation Machine (in-store only, $80 down from $239).

  • could you use this as a humidifier? :P

    • probably not.. all there is in the bottom is a heat pad which steams the water.

i mean you could probably do it but i would look at a dedicated humidifier

  • Anyone know if these would be suitable for a CPAP mask? Apparently the silicone on the masks is very delicate which makes it unsuitable for harsh soaps etc.

    • no. there is no way of hooking up a mask to these..

      These are designed for bottles

LOL. I don't want to use it as a CPAP machine (I think that was made clear by the machine being a steriliser and the mention of soaps etc). I want to know if I can clean the mask in it since the mask is made out of similar materials to baby bottles and teats.

EDIT: It just occurred to me you may have meant a mask would not fit inside one. It may pay to just go and look at one.

Nothing says 'closer to nature' like killing everything down to the bacterial level.

  • out of stock in Victoria.

    no stock across WA.

    • Bought one from Riverton last night. They still had 2 left on the shelf after I got mine.

  • Protip: many major hospitals do not sterilise their bottles…..

    • They sterilize the patients?

      • Leave that to the vaccines and chemtrails

Sorry but I really want to know why there are many people who are against vaccination. In my home country, the 6-in-1 vaccine is encouraged (but not required) to give to babies in order to prevent the most common diseases. I was also vaccinated when I was very young and grew up very healthy.

Back then, the death rate of unvaccinated children was very high.

@721411: I don't think mackaxx is against vaccination, i think he/she is just saying to leave the vaccinations to kill the germs that are present before sterilisation.
Chemtrails refer to a therory that secret goverments "spray" the unsuspecting public with chemicals from the burn off of aircraft propellants..
A therory mind you which is total BS in my view because if the governments were going to kill people from engine burn off, they'd use cars..
Stupid conspiracy theory people come from first world countries where people get bord to often when lifes are served on a silver plate.

          Rant aside, good deal OP!
I want one but i asked my mum and she washed my bottles in the sink!.. I think i turned out ok (but so does every twit I know..)

          @721411:
Just to clarify, taking the piss here.

        • @mackaxx: Ha ha! Sorry, I'm not used to Aussie slangs/jokes. May do some more research on it!

Got neg from someone else. ;(

    • Yes it would be a bigger bargain not to buy it. No need at all.

    • True - in fact we had twins recently and I saw this first hand. What they did instead was simply dispose of a brand new bottle after use - yes, they just throw in the bin a brand new bottle that you would otherwise keep forever at home. This was in a private hospital in Sydney.

That's not a good practice though. What they should've done is to collect, wash, sterilize and reuse those bottles. Always remember to REDUCE - REUSE - RECYCLE!

      • I collected about 40 - 50 bottles from when my wife & daughter stayed in Melbourne public hospital.
We collected all the little glass formula jars too.

One day we might use them.

        • Even public hospitals don't reuse the bottles? Now I know why national budget is too tight.

Because the bottles are made of glass, send some to the yellow bin for recycling (remember to remove caps or any non-recyclable parts). Then you can store herbs and spices in those that are left. Or you can make your own yogurt or pickles and store in the fridge.

Glass is much better and safer than plastic to be used for storage!

        • @721411:
Many do re use, maybe not in the nicu but elsewhere definitely.

As soon as you I'll the bottle out of the steriliser its dirty unless your decanting in a fume hood. Consider also the breast feeding mother, she's not swabbing her nipples with alcohol every time is she? That manky formula tin too, yeck… Baby kisses on your checks? Greasy bacteria city.

Just wash em, you do that anyway and hot soapy water will do the job.

Bought one of these 3 years ago when they were at half price for about $70 from MyBabyWarehouse. Greatest freakin time saving thing ever, especially when having to sterilise multiple bottles for a 6-12 month old who will go through 6 a day easily.

  • Bought one tonight at BabyBunting, asked them to price match it. I bet Toysrus would do the same.
