  • Need a smart charger on sale now :(

    • Can't help you today but your in luck tomorrow -
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/194234

      • Oh nice! Are they as good as the Smart and Quick Eneloop charger? And prevents overcharge?

        • No one has seen this model yet but going by Mcfly's comment it looks good - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/194234#comment-2751138

        • +1

I bought a previous model Aldi charger and it seemingly works quite well. I would expect this one to be the same. Worst case you could return it.

        • @atlas: Yeah they will have their 60 days return condition..so should be good according to that price. And it does D, so my Maglite is taken care of :)
Now need to find AAA packs of Eneloops made in Japan. :)

        • If you are going to Aldi to get the charger then just grab a 4 pack Aldi lsd aaa $6.99, they work great.

        • @luke73: Do they last as long as the Eneloops? Hold similar amount of power?

        • Yes, I have had a pack for 1yr, only recharged a few times & they hold their charge nicely. For $6.99 it's a no brainer.

        • @shadowarrior: Another cheaper alternative is the IKEA LADDA battery ($5.99 pack of 4). I have LSD batteries from Eneloop, ALDI and IKEA they are very similar in terms of performance.

        • @nbn:
WA markup on the IKEA LADDA:
          - "AA" $19.95/4 pack … new special price of $9.95/4 pack
          - "AAA" $25/4 pack … new special price of $19.95/4 pack

Based on your feedback I was planning on grabbing a few next visit, but not at those prices.

Unfortunately no ALDI in WA … not until 2016

        • @hellrazorone: Ouch. What makes IKEA WA thinks their battery worth 3x more?

        • @nbn:

Shipping? It must cost them a fortune.

      • Found a good question in that thread, looks like it can only charge one AA at any given time?

        • Not true, it can charge 1 to 6 at once. I just did a review - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/194234?page=1#comment-2770…

        • @luke73:
Oh nice! Thanks for the review. It doesn't details like amount charged or capacity etc, does it? Am thinking of picking one up now, and place an order for a XTAR VC4. Return the ALDI once the VC4 arrives… I know am being a bit dodgey here :|

        • Yep, 2nd line in my review. It shows the individual percentages of the 6 charging compartments plus the two 9V on the lcd screen.

        • @luke73: Just picked up the charger and Aldi AAA pack. There's no mention of LSD in the battery packaging, and the staff said that's the only rechargeable AAA they sell. Says Active Energy NIMH 850mAh.

        • It might not say lsd, but the give away is on the packet it says something like "retains a certain % after 6 months"

        • @luke73: Yep correct :) Unpacking the charger now. Also picked up my click and collect Rogues. Now need to find a reliable source to purchase the XTAR VC4. Bangood I guess?

  • If these are made in Japan then a plus from me.

  • They bumped the price to 20 bucks now… :|

    good find OP

OP would probably appreciate a vote even more.

  • Great price for made in japan Eneloop

  • $17.76! Yaaah. In true OzBargain style I somehow saved one cent that I can put towards my Eneloop purchasing obsession.

(Stop me before I buy again…)

  • different colour…must buy…

  • Picked up my set today.

I've never really been into pink, but these look great. Can't complain for $17 and Japanese made.

  • On a slightly related note:

How do you guys store your eneloops? Just lumped in a draw? A Tupperware container? Some sort of special battery holder?

  • Dickies rang me yesterday to inform that they had no 'pink' eneloops in stock, and only had 'black' or 'purple'.
I asked: "Are either of these made in Japan, not China?". "Dunno mate…" was the response.

So, I wandered in there this morning to ask the same question, and the assistant handed me a 8pk of the 'Limited Edition 4 colours' (Made in Japan!!!) purple, black, grey, and silver. Winnah!

  • Thanks ordered

  • I picked up mine earlier in the week too.

  • I'm still waiting for mine…:P

  • Need to check OZB more often for Eneloop deals.
