I had a previous generation of this. And it had all the characteristics the commenter mentions. But I kept using it, because It Worked. I liked that it was loud. I liked that I could read the clock from across the room in the middle of the night as soon as I woke up rather than after my eyes adjusted. I didn't use "wake to music" so the wake-to-music volume wasn't an issue for me. I never had a problem at all with the controls — and I'm That Person who always requests wake-up calls in hotels because I don't trust myself to properly set most alarm clocks. I don't remember the blinking colon, but do remember that my clock would blink if there had been a power cut, to remind me to make sure the time was still accurate, or if the battery got low. I'm buying this one.

What the? A digital clock that ONLY displays 24 hour format? Really? Now, that's bizarre.
Its a good price but I bought one of these and returned it. It worked well but the screen on the lowest brightness level is much too bright for the bedroom
That screen looks like I could read using it. And it's yellow like sunlight, just the thing when you're trying to sleep :|
