Seems like a very cheap price so I bought one. From memory it was dearer a day or two ago.

Not many reviews or info on the device itself but found this "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_pzJINgKN4"

Hope someone will find it useful.

  • Any chance you know if it would work for at s6?? I tried looking up about it but couldn't find anything but not sure how this wireless chargers work

    • I'm after one for a G3, also wondering if this one would work. Have read not so good things about the cheapies off ebay so I'm after something at least halfway decent.

      • I've bought one for my lgg3, its so cheap its worth a try. The g3 is a bit more picky about qi chargers because it sucks on them much harder than my s4 ever did. So a lot of the eBay cheapies I had for my old s3 and s4 dont work very well with the g3, because it causes them to brown-out they can't supply enough grunt.

      • +2

As long as the charger itself says qi and the coils that connect to your phone says qi then they're compatible. There really is no other choice since the main standard for lg/samsung is qi.

The ebay one's work just as good as oem chargers, both utilise just a little under 1a. Buy the DIY kits instead of charger stands, they're only about $5 and you can place them anywhere. My room is basically full of these, my mousepad, side tables, coffee table and main desk all basically charge my phone.

Buy you will need to find a compatible back for the G3 that has the receiver coils on it, the pads on ebay are often too bulky and might not work or will need some modifications on your original back plate.

        • My phone appears to have whatever is needed already in the backplate. From the research I've done, NFC has 2 pads, NFC and wireless charging has 4 and mine appears to have the 4 so I'm hoping it's already there ready to go.

        • @foobar:
Yes the lgg3 already comes with the qi charging loop embedded in the back cover.

        • @stumo:
Well yes and no, some regions/models do and others apparently don't. Mine is a HK 2GB/16GB model and appears to have it, have heard many conflicting stories but mostly US models that don't seem to come with them, not sure about Asia sourced ones.

Here is a pic of the inside of my back cover, this is a pic showing both the 2 pad and 4 pad versions. I believe that mine has it but the guy I bought it from said it didn't so I'm not 100% sure. The fact there's 4 pads indicates it does … I think :)

        • @foobar:
Yeah theres 2 connectors for NFC, 2 for qi. So yours has it. Mines the 3gb version Taiwan stock I think, and has 4 connectors

        • I have a G3 and a cheap ebay qi charger didn't work. I went and bought a Nokia qi charger and it works fine.

The G3 is notorious for working with only better quality chargers. It seems as if cheapies don't have much of an inductive charging range.

    • +1

Yes. This charger is using qi standard. S6 is compatible with qi AND pma. So the S6 is basically compatible with any wireless charger.

  • Wouldn't know sorry I just bought it a moment ago. It says for S4 doesn't it so maybe it will only work for S4.

  • it will work only on s4 if you have the additional wireless kit.

  • It says its a qi charger, so it should work with any qi charging loop. Also some of the scant info I've found online says this has an internal 400mAh battery in it.

  • Does anyone know if note edge has built in capability to charge wirelessly or I need to buy a special back cover for the phone to enable this function?

    thank you.

  • is this dangerous to use inside of the phone so wireless charging would be possible ?

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Qi-Wireless-Charger-Charging-Rece…

    • Using one on my note edge. No it's not dangerous, that's no different to whats inside the oem egde wireless covers. All wireless chargers basically consist of a coil and voltage regulators.

And no, that wont fit well with the original back cover. The soldering joints on the regulator will bulge out on the back and will press on the pins/battery pretty hard. Get the leather flip cover and grind the insides a bit for a perfect fit.

    • Been using this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/281358603665?_trksid=p2057872.m27…
for about 2 weeks. had a small issue with the black flippy add on not sitting tightly with the connectors so had to use a 5 cent coin blu-tacked to the inside back case to push the addon against the connectors (perhaps because of the curvy design of the back cover. This "band-aid" fixes it and have it like this since.

Didn't burn down my house…haha… I'm willing to bet it is about as safe as normal cable charging infact the battery has failsafe measures to stop overcharging.

I've left my phone on all night even thought I know it is nearly full. Knowing that the S4 phones have shitty battery life, I practually need to recharge it every night.

  • +1

Hopefully it will work OK on the Nexus 5.

    • Should do. I'm using a qi charger on my Nexus 5 and it works fine.

  • wireless charging is great for overnight charging, but the all wireless chargers charge at 500mah whilst the S4 and most new phones charge at 4x that speed when using the usb port now.
So keep that in mind when buying kits like this

    • +2

Depends on the model, some qi chargers can push out a whole 1A.

  • JB says the model is BF2AR4:

    BF2AR4 (For Galaxy S4)

Wireless Qi® Charging (cannot be used simultaneously with wireless sound or hands-free conferencing)

Wireless Qi® Charging Samsung® Insert (option)

Re-chargeable Battery Included (No Batteries Required, for Wireless Sound only)

    • +1

See this site for more info:

      http://www.diytrade.com/china/pd/12505661/BF2_Mobile_Samsung…

Given the RRP (according to JB during check out) was $129, JB says it is simply "compatible with Samsung Galaxy S4", and other websites say that the package includes the charging insert, I would say that it includes the charging kit for the S4 in the box.

(I bravely assume whilst buying two)

      • I bought an adaptor just in case (7 bux). I work away so dont want to wait even longer to use it,…

  • Got one to try out, bought a Nokia Qi charger from DSE before working great, this will be a good addition if it works with my S4.

    Thanks OP.

  • anyone know if it works with the 2013 nexus 7?

    • hey i saw the video and it appears for the iphone, the guy has a case on it so assuming thats how it connects to this device?

thought you could just put your device on it?

"Seems like a very cheap price so I bought one."
    -Oz Bargain motto

  • bought one for iphone 5s, comes with rechargeable battery :)

    • But don't you need a special Qi receiver to use for iPhone? Or you plan on using it just for the speakers?

      • +1

I think the charging case is also included in that considering original price was $129, otherwise normally its mentioned what is not included. Also found a site with details about this model:

        http://www.central.co.th/en/g/%E0%B8%A5%E0%B8%B3%E0%B9%82%E0…

Qi charger for iPhone 5s. Charge your smartphone with Qi wireless charging technology, use with Qi charging case (includes in the box)
Speaker with Electromagnectic Resonance Wireless technology. Play the music with no pairing
Builtin microphone for hands free phone conferencing
        Built
in rechargeable battery. Up to 6-8 hrs.
Includes USB power cable and -5mm jack for use with other compatible devices.

        • you're right. thanks! This is a steal of a price as long as it doesn't burn my house down. Ordered.

  • does this work for s5 and if so what else is needed

    • The S5 itself does not have a wireless-charging-pad. You have to buy it cheap or you could buy the S-View cover with wireless charge capability built in

    • It will work if you place a Qi charging receiver inside the back cover.

Or if you want to maintain water proof seal get the Samsung Qi receiver back cover replacement. Note: it makes the phone as thick as the camera lense.

  • Will this work with my Nexus 4 as it has worked with those cheap ebay wireless charging pads before ????

    • Nexus 4 uses Qi wireless charging standard. This is a Qi charging pad so it will work.

  • +1

Quick search on Google turned up this page with lists of phones with compatible Qi wireless charging.

    http://www.qinside.biz/en/support/qi-enabled-phones-2015

It even notes whether it's built-in or a separate accessory is needed. Accessories can usually be found cheaply on eBay.

Source: Personally used Qi wireless charging for 2+ years with Lumia 920, Lumia 1520, Nexus 4, Samsung S5.

  • anyone know whether this works with LG G2?

    • +1

Not all G2 support wireless charging. But if it does, then this should work.

  • Bought one. Hopefully it works with my Galaxy S5 with wireless charging cover

  • Got this and the one for the iphone 5/5s. I don't need these yet, but bought it just in case I miss out on the deal.

    Good find OP

  • +1

Ordered one for my nexus 4. Thanks.

  • Can anyone point me where to get the qi card/ receiver for note edge in Sydney to pick up or Australia online? as some locals are selling it for 3 to 5 times then others :///

    • Probably find it elsewhere online like eBay if you're concerned with local prices. I haven't seen any reasonable prices for receivers locally.

      • thank you, I will.

  • thx OP. Bought 2, one for myself, one for my girlfriend.

  • Can the charger hook up to battery bank to make it completely portable?

    • +2

You're probably better off hooking up a portable charger to your phone 😬

      • You will loose about half the power of the battery bank in the wireless conversions. Much better list to plug straight into the phone.

    • The efficiency of wireless charging is very very low compared to the normal method, also it's very slow as well.
That being said, if you are willing to do that, why not grab a powerbank that has wireless charging function?
I guess us being on Ozbargain, many of us would have spare Xiaomi battery.

  • Does anyone know why you can't use the speaker and charger simultaneously? Seems a bit silly that you need to press a switch to change between modes.

    • +2

Because of the way it works.

Instead of using Bluetooth, the speaker amplifier parts of this device are using induction principal to amplify the sound (ie. Grabbing the magnetic field of the phone speaker using induction and amplify it to produce sound), and the charger parts use induction principal to wirelessly charge your phone battery.

Activate both will interfere the induction field with each other and nothing will works.

They should stick with Bluetooth for the amplifier in the first place instead of using this fancy technology (called Near FA) :)

      • +2

Thanks for the detailed explanation mate. I assumed it was bluetooth for the sound.

    • I just put a cancellation through for my order, as on closer inspection, it looks like a pos.

      • +1

Any elaboration on that? Is the sound bad or the charging too?

        • +2

Reason: it won't charge and play audio at the same time. I already have several qi chargers.

  • how many A output are the coils?

    • +1

I think it's 0.5A. Some wireless chargers do output 1A but I'm not sure whether this one does.

      • damn thats… low
i can barely survive on 1A USB Power adapters
i'll have to pass on this one then.

        thanks for the info though

      • +3

Qi works great as overnight charging, or placed on a desk when in the office when you're working.

  • Also will this work in a car?

    • yes, if you dont drive like takumi and your phone stays on the charging mat. you'll need an cigarette to usb adaptor

  • Is anyone else having issues with using theirs for a phone other then an s4? Im not sure if its a faulty unit or I just cant use it with my s6

    • actually never mind i just had it on the wrong colour! Can confirm it works :)

      • so did it come with an s4 qi charging case?

        • No it comes with a little tag type thing you attach to your battery, so you have to take the back of your phone off to install it.

        • @Hipmumma: thanks!

        • @dtnvong: not a problem :)

  • Who is delivering these? Toll or Australia Post?

  • AusPost courier…

includes: Wireless Charger Accept(Aka: receiver coil) for S4, spec on receiver says … input:5V, output:650mA

Bit tight fit with the standard back cover…

GSam Battery Monitor app reports S4 is charging at 1900mA even though I am using 1200mA wall charger.

    • edit: S4 NFC does not work with the receive coil installed.

  • Received mine today, still playing around with different cables to see what gives best charge rate but just a quick question.
Why do I have to use the Red light mode to charge the unit, does it have a power bank in it or something ???
Also the yellow/Green mode is what actually charges the mobile the best and fastest correct ??

    Thanks

    • red light flashing- charge internal battery of blue fox
blue n purple - play music
yellow n green - charger the phone

  • received it and happy with it for $14. Wireless charging is handy although the receiver does make a bulge in the casing of the phone. Anyway decent to have on the desk as a cradle with added bonus of wireless charging. doubt i'll ever use the music function, though that sounded quite good too when I tested it.

    • I get quite a loud interference sound with my nexus 5, anyone else? Not too bad but it's there if you're not playing anything and switch to purple mode, gets a bit drowned out when you play music though.

  • im having trouble getting above 70% for some reason on my nexus 4, should i use included cable or official nexus charging cable ??

  • +3

I got my 3 today. I have been using qi chargers for a while and here are my notes….

    1. One of the chargers is faulty, it keeps dropping out when the phone pulls more than 300mA from it. It was also opened and the qi receiver coil was missing.

    2. The included cable isn't very good. Its only good for about 800mA, then it causes the charger to dropout cycle.

    3. The charger is very good when used with a decent USB cable and source. My LGG3 can pull 1.7A on it in these conditions. My S4 only pulls about 1A max, so maybe the included cable will be ok with the S4.

So the upshot of it is, this is a great charger if you use a different cable and a genuine 2A @5V source. The cable and source are very important and are usually the cause of dropouts in my experience. Thus charger is able to supply full current to my LGG3, so it should easily work fine with the s4 which pulls half as much load.

    • I should have said, I'm using one of those inline USB power doctor thingos off ebay, to measure the voltage and current.

My best USB supply is the white UK adapter that came with my S3. It keeps voltage at around 5.1V even under 2A of load. Next best is the $15 eBay 40W 5 port thingo. Then the kogan au adapter that came with my s3. Then the stock adapter that came with my lgg3.

The rest are pretty crap for qi charging. The voltage drops way below 5V under decent load. Causing the qi to drop out. This includes both the stock UK, and newer kogan adapters that came with my S4.

Its also really hard to find decent USB charging leads. The best one I have by miles is the one that came with my lgg3.

    • my g3 will give warning that it is the original lg wireless charger and thus only allows slow charging.
      Do you that this issue?

      • Yeah mine sometimes says that, but it still actually charges at full speed regardless. It could be your supply or cable.

  • Still waiting for mine. They said was dispatched on Monday but in Melb and nothing yet. anybody in melb got theirs yet?

    • Not in melbourne but sydney. Dispatched but still are yet to receive.

    • I received at yesterday.

    • nope not yet, still waiting.

  • Got mine yesterday. Tried it with my Galaxy note 4. Working!

  • Just got mine. Ordered on Saturday. Charging seems to work fine with my S6. The Galaxy Charging Current app reports 520mA.

BTW the iPhone model is still available. It's also a Qi charger. I assume it'll just be physically a bit smaller. It might still work though, depending on where the coil is.

  • I received mine too, but the retail packaging was cut and opened. Upon further inspection, I realised that one of the rubber feet is missing, making it unstable.

  • Received mine this afternoon. Does others with LG G3 experience the phone display turning on every couple of seconds saying wireless charging…then sleeps again?
