1630

Follow these instructions carefully…

  • Click here then scroll down and install the 'Paid Version' (32 or 64 bit)
  • Install the program, then enter key ABLAD-A2XEL-DUIGR-AIMDV-TAKLW-3WIDO
  • If there's already a key there from a previous install, overwrite with the new one
  • You should now have a 375 license (yes, more than 1 year)

As quoted in SlickDeals… The Huawei giveaway version of Antivirus 2014 is still active and AVG has released AVG Antivirus Pro 2015 Final Version. Since all AVG 2014 license keys can be used to activate a corresponding AVG 2015 edition, you can use the Huawei giveaway license to activate the “Paid” version of AVG Antivirus Pro 2015 and run it for more than a full year (375 days).

  • Do you know how long the key is valid till? We need to reinstall windows but it might not be for another month.

    • It's in the post and title. 375 days.

      • I mean for how long will they be accepting the key.

        • No idea, sorry. I'm guessing a while, as it's the same key you've been able to use with 2104 version for a year now.

        • @tightarse:

Ok thanks. If it has been working that long hopefully they won't take it away anytime soon.

        • @Lenneth:
          Good luck!

    • We need to reinstall windows but it might not be for another month.

Just use MSE, it's always free…

Read the instructions please. A lot of people reported the same issue on SlickDeals.

      • Doesn't seem to work for those using AVG Free and who have earlier installed a "Free" paid version which has expired….

this or the Microsoft free Windows Defender?

    • Yes, what's wrong with the free ones?

I've been using free ones all my life. No issues.

      • wonder if it is ok to use both at the same time without softare-confilct?

wonder if it is ok to use both at the same time without softare-confilct?

Nope… Only one anti-virus should be installed and active at any one time…

Software is like sex, it's better when it's free.

        • +2

lol, free sex is everywhere but always good to be cautious ;)

        • @webtherapist: Agreed; but somehow it doesn't have the same ring to it, if I add a qualifying statement of the type 'enjoy responsibly' :P

@theStinge: lol, AVG = Anti Virus (like HIV) Guard ;)

The protection tests measured two categories of malware interception: brand new (zero-day) threats and widespread threats. A few of the top 10 products achieved 100 percent detection of the 208 brand new samples. The industry average was 97 percent detection. Windows Defender, however, averaged 73 percent detection. To test against widespread and prevalent malware, 12,207 malware samples tried to sneak past each product. The industry-average detection rate was 99 percent, compared to 74 percent for Windows Defender.

Also note that AVG isn't even in the top 10.

Bitdefender (the number 1 AV) deals are quite common on OB.

  • Can I use the license for commercial small office environment? Or is it limited to personal use only?

Not a fan of AVG. super annoying. Every time I log on it seems to want to validate if my browsers can go online again, even though it did it the previous round. Also make sure you disable their link scanner which causes havoc for certificates and encryption. Just last week it auto updated and installed something that set up the AVG search as my default search engine! That was the last straw and I got rid of it.

TLDR - too much customization required to get it running in the background without being annoying.

Agree, but still a good deal.

Still struggling to find an AV which doesn't annoy me in some way. Running Kaspersky now is probably the closest I've ever gotten.

      • I'd prefer annoying anti-virus software than a virus

        • The problems I were having made me worried though. For example with Bitdefender my protection would turn off unexpectedly.
Even if not puttingyou at risk it can be very bothersome. Avira (years ago) would not remember when I would say to not worry about a file (e.g. a keygen) and would keep asking me constantly about it.
AVG free installs toolbars and other crapware without asking you (when it updates the software) including changing homepage and search provider - that to me is almost as bad as a virus.

Luckily these days we are spoilt with choice for good Antiviruses.

        • +1

clicking "next next next finish" will get you all that extra tool bars.
          the exclusions work for me

Do you have experience using AV like Norton in good old days? You'd prefer to get a virus in your computer than having Norton which takes most of the CPU and you that it's the virus which doesn't allow you to do anything on the computer. That's very heavy on the machine and super safe too as there is no way for you to use your computer for anything else. I've heard Nortan has come a long way from those days but I still have that trauma and never looked at it again.

        • @jasonc: Yes I have no problem with ticking it off when manually installing the problem is it did that (installed crap) on an auto update!

This key won't update your current license. Tried it, AVG stuffed about for a minute, reboot & still have same amount of days left as I did before.

    • Uninstalling & reinstalling with new key isn't making a difference either. Still have 190 days left.

  • Installed but update virus definitions failed multiple times.

  • I tried AVG but did not like it mainly because it comes with a firewall that sucks! I could probably disconnect the firewall but it was easier to uninstall AVG and put on AVAST free.

Avast has a good engine but the annoying prompts promoting the full version put me off. I ended up installing ESET Smart Security with a 1 year key they were giving away.

  • Thanks again champ :)

they would have to pay me to use it, annoying software and somtimes laggy

  • This or bitdefender?

  • Does not work if you have AVG Free, and you have installed a "free" paid version previously….. :(

    • yeah, I AVG free already installed
went to options and activate, replaced the code and it worked for me

      • didnt work for me. did you do anything special?

  • Yeah these days I think AVG is short for Average Antivirus to be honest

  • It says license expired, yes i did follow the instructions

  • Worked for me.

    My install situation:
    OS Windows 8
Have never had AVG installed previously.
Made sure to scroll down and d/l the 'paid' version, not trial. Nearly clicked on trial by accident, though…

  • Didn't work for me, had the free AVG already installed. Will try a full removal and try again.

    • keep us posted, dont want to put all the effort in and find out it doesnt work

      • +1

If you have already used an AVG "free" code, this will never work on the same computer, unless you clean install windows!

  • Cheers TA, worked fine for me. Expires late June next year.

  • slows down the PC- Avoid!

  • +1

Just to confirm, the code is still working fine.

    • Won't work if you have already had a full free version, as above. I did an uninstall, dowloaded the 215Mb file, and ended up with 3 days left of my old free full version. Wasted half an hour.

  • Code is still working as of today. Thanks OP

    • How did you get it to work? Mine is saying invalid key :-(
edit: Oh wait, i think i have previously installed a full version :-(
