Will there be a queue there?
I want to go to P'matta but by the time I get there they might already be gone.

    • -3

Because this super deal has been posted in OzBargain, definitely there will be a queue :)

If shopping centre permits, people may camp in front of the store from the night before opening.

    • There is a queue of about 50 to 70 people as at 8am. Just FYI. Saw it on my way to work

  • It's going DOWN , I'm YELLING ~~

      TIMBERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

  • +8

Awesome! Just in time for the Ozbargain winter uniform!

    • Loading up on the heattech! I prefer the tshirt one underneath my work shirt to a singlet.

      • +1

Haha i thought it was just me!!!

  • It's opening during business hours so I reckon it's not going to be that busy. Plus it's not the first stores in NSW so I reckon you've got a good chance.

    • +1

yeah but if its advertised that the first 100 people to buy a 2.95 sock will get a 79.95 down jacket, i', pretty sure people will line up outside!

i would consider it! for miranda which is sat monring

      • +1

I am sure people will queue up.

      • Oh yes forgot Miranda is on different day which is Sat. Which OZB is going to line up at BOTH stores to get two jackets? You know you want to!

        • lol OzB meet at miranda! first 100 ppl will be OzB'ers

      • Correction: 99.90 jacket

        • +1

          aahhh the zipper one
          even better!

Miranda (Westfield) opens Saturday 30 May at 10:00am
Parramatta (Westfield) opens Thursday 28 May at 10:00am

you underestimate the willingness of Asians to sacrifice their time to get a bargain. NSW. They will probably be queuing 1 hr before the shop is opened. I myself queued 30 mins just to get BOGOF GongCha, essentially saving me $5 hahaha

      • +1

Is Parramatta or Miranda a heavily Asian area?

        • yep

        • Lol i would not say miranda is a heavily asian area, asians are actually rare to be seen. I dont know if it will there'll be less of a queue there though since i didnt go to the parra lineup to see how many asians there were.

  • -4

    Free yeah, but fugly

    • -2

Hardly. I have one and it looks pretty good

    • +2

Agree. Would not wear one casually, but very practical for the right environment..

  • Shame the Australian Uniqlo sizes are so big.
For example, the smallest Australian pants size is a 29 which is still 78cm around the waist. In Japan, they had 70cm around the waist as their smallest.
Means all these new Australian stores are useless to me :(

    • +5

      Are you calling Australians fat?

      • Hahaha you should be asking that question to Uniqlo management… :P

I just wish they sold smaller sizes as well as they clearly make them.

Wouldn't make sense for example to open a Gold Coast store (high Japanese population) but not have sizes which fit them.

        • Compare the price Japanese will buy it from Japan anyway …..

BTW, I am thin but I still find their size is OK for me.

        • @superforever: The price shouldn't matter because an item costs the same, regardless of it's L or S. The markup here is across the board.

      • Not sure about 'fat,' but there's definitely vanity sizing going on. I'm 75kg/180cm, not big, but nor would I say I'm small. I bought a couple of Uniqlo tops in Japan and I'm a M there but the same size here is too billowy.

        • OK, so just buy S here.

    • This is the same as Zara.
Basically the Euro/Asian Medium = Aus Small

Makes no sense as per usual you always see smalls fly off the shelves first.

  • better than an upjacket.

Just got back from Japan, it will be a long time before I go in an Australian uniqlo again!

    • +1

      Y dawg?

    • Do you really think the prices were that much better? I found them roughly comparable, except for the weekend sale items.

      • +1

Down jacket in Japan cost $35AUD. Aussie tax!

        • Damn, I missed it - The ones I saw were 10000 yen or roughly $100. :( Was it one of the weekend sale items?

        • +1, around that price in Hong Kong too. One bought one during X'Mas two years ago.

      • This is a good example, these chino pants are on special in Aus, $30 down from $50 which is a pretty good price by Australian standards - good quality pants too. Japan's everyday price is about $20 (plus tax).

Oh well, I'll just have to wait for another Jetstar 2 for 1 sale to Tokyo!

Interesting link on how they're made- http://youtu.be/kZNV7n8bMAU

    Still no Uniqlo in Perth?

    • +6

I like your thinking but definitely not the 'OzBargain way'.

      • +3

        His username is definitely fitting.

  • -1

    are there any more left?

    • +1

No, I was informed by staff that I was the lucky last. Thanks OP!

      • -1

No more, I managed to grab one too, paid the first person in the line $100 for their spot, as you do…

      • What time were u there to get the free jacket?

        • We're joking. Store opening tomorrow.

  • The deal hasn't even started yet and it's all gone?

  • -3

Bet ya the queue will be 90% asians

  • In the line now - count is at around 60-70 people.

  • +1

Its useless now, the queue is purely for uniqlo fans only, not getting the free jacket as already nearly 200 people lining up.

    • Confirmed, wife went there and said line up is crazy.

  • Got here at 8:30. I'd say I'm at about the 150 mark. Got nothing going on though so I'll stay and pick up some new socks while I'm here…

Reminds me when Samsung were giving out 10 Galaxy S II (or was it III) everyday a few years ago :-)

    Someone should take a pic

I got there after 9am and I missed out on the free ultra downs. The queue was very long and I was at the back (maybe after 150 people) and I saw many notorious queue jumpers, notably friends and families that were jumping out and in the queue for some reason at the back of the line. So I went to the checkout register and was told the first hundred free ultra downs ran out. Then I went to Vinnies and picked up a polyester down for seven bucks instead. I tell you that it's crazy, and If you would go to the Miranda one. I'd tell you to line up at 6 or 7am because that's what I think, maybe I'm wrong. Here's some photos http://i.imgur.com/ANyNHcW.jpg

    • Nice of you to blur the faces. :)

I was there and spend almost 2.5 hrs in queue, 99% were asian and 1%other. I got the jacket, quality of jacket is just ok but it is free so can not complain. They were giving $20 westfield voucher to the next 30 customers.
There were lot of queue jumpers and people were pushing each others, which was disappointment for the people who were there since 7 am. By looking at today's situation at Parramatta I would not even bother to go to Miranda it will be totally riots at Miranda.

When I got out of store, a girl offered me $40 for my jacket!

  • Waited at Miranda for 2.5hrs. Got the jacket

  • I had to post this new comment as I've just realized something cringe worthy. Well I got my jacket too but I remembered that I saw the 4th person in line queue jumped her kid/child into the queue. And the 6th person that was actually the 5th had to wait for our turn to go into the store (5 people at a time the security guy said). I was the 8th person in line from 5:30am, I waited at 4:30am outside for the doors at level 3 to open. Sorry for the rant but the first 100 people got a coupon to redeem their free down jacket, and so I think the 5th kid/person that jumped the queue got a free coupon for the jacket. One guy in the line (the 6th person shouted at the suit/security guy that that's not allowed). And now that I've realized this. OMG wtf did I recall from that day. (two coupons!) End rant. But the best thing that happened while I was trying on the jacket in the fitting rooms real quick, I accidentally dropped my coupon but the staff saw it and gave it back. So top props for the staff, they saved my life like literally (thanks person from the fitting room! I hope you see this post).

    • Also the Uniqlo down jacket fits great and it's super light. The downsides of this Uniqlo down jacket is that I think my old polyester filling jacket is better, thicker and keeps heat. This new one is made well but I don't think it will last the longest if I'm always holding/carrying my bunny around the house. My old jacket is more durable than this, but it's well worth waiting outside at 4am for. But I don't think it's worth $80 aussie dollars. I saw the other posts here that in Japan you could get this down jacket for much less.

    • It's amazing how low people will go for a quick buck.
