  • Thanks. Great deal. Well im in Sydney and now my aftercare store in Melbourne :)

    • +2

Just put my after care in Sydney. 50% discount still applies :)

    • seriously, please read before you comment

    • I was thinking the same thing, then I re-read. So an honest mistake

  • +7

I feel dirty, like I'm cheating on our main man Jack Hawks..

    • Why? This deal is way better.

    • +8

Just close your eyes and imagine it's Jack

      • +15

I just took my contacts out instead

  • thanks - brilliant!

  • Thanks

  • thanks, ordered some.

  • Thank you.

  • Thank you very much OP. This is so much better than the normal $50 off $99 for all of us who have the toric fortnightly's that cost $48 a box. I didn't even bother ordering last time that deal was posted even though I am short of lenses.

Also I didn't change my preferred store to a Melb one, still works with Darwin store as my aftercare provider.

    • sorry , this might sound a bit stupid question…

i assume this deal and the previous deal ($50 off $99) will end up the same if i spend $100 either on this or the previous deal. Am i correct ?

      • +2

Yeah but everything is priced in a way to make it hard to get exactly $100 and you generally get $50 off $120-$130 depending on what contacts you get. This is a much better deal.

        • +1

Exactly, for my contacts the other deal gets me 3 boxes for $94 this one gets me 4 boxes for $96. This is a great deal and I would order tons more but I haven't been using contacts that much recently.
Once again, props to the OP!!

        • thank you for your comment and advise

  • Awesome first post! Thanks OP :)

  • Great stuff I'm thankful I waited :)

  • Thanks mate

  • Thank you so much 3 pairs of 30 Toric lenses $105 (3 Months worth) I'm glad I used this instead of yesterdays deal (which code didn't work at first and I couldn't be bothered once they had fixed it) I would have paid $160 if i had used the other deal. I also didn't have to change my aftercare store. (Would be unfair if I had to change as I think they get a commission)
    Awesome deal. Thank You Ignis

  • I haven't worn contact lenses before, but I think I might start from this deal…
Can anyone recommend on which brand / type of contact lens I should try out?
My SPH is -3.25 in both eyes

    • +2

very bad idea indeed. You have go to specsavers or call and make an appointment and they will show you how to safely wear them and teach how to put them in and out, trust me it takes some people a while to do it properly. its all free of course and theyll give u free samples and the end. you dont want to damage ur eyes.

      • +2

Exactly you need a Script which is given after a trial just make a Free appointment they give you Monthly trial lenses (Which will last for a month) and all the trays and cleaning fluid or Daily Trial Lenses (5 days to a weeks worth) all Free!! it took me 3 trials to find the correct brand/size/comfort lenses for me.

    • +1

You definitely want to get another eye test and a prescription for contact lenses.

Don't order contact lenses just based on your glasses prescription.

The best prescription for contacts may be slightly different from your values for your glasses and you need to learn how to put them in, etc.

    • Your contact prescription is 'generally' about a degree less. At least mine is, as is my wifes. Would recommend going and actually checking because too strong it'll hurt and too weak it won't work = no point spending cash on something that won't work.

    • If you buy contacts without a fitting and trial and error it, you might get the wrong base curve and it will tear up your corneas.

Specsavers has free fittings. Take the trial there and tell them you'll order online.

Cheers for the heads up, shall make an appointment now!

  • LOVE THIS DEAL, BOUGHT, THANKS

  • Awesome, much better deal than the $50 off $99 for me as two boxes of mine cost $98. Thanks so much!

Great timing - thanks OP (Sorry Jack).

  • Thanks OP! Got a year's supply :)

Hey guys - reading a few comments here.

If you are keen on trying contact lenses, please please visit your nearest optometrist and get an Contact Lens Prescription (CLRX…don't ask me why it RX even I don't know lol..should be PR or something). Also materials between products will vary so depending on your criteria and requirements of your eyes you might not be suitable for certain contact lenses. Also don't forget regular eye checks (recommended every 12 months), you only have one set of eyes look after them =)

P.S - I'll tell Jack Hawks you're all cheating on him lol! Nah good spot OP!

Rx - Latin is Recipe: to take.

      • Tx

        (OzBargain shorthand for "thanks")

OzBargain for "to take" is "broden"

I've taken advantage of these offers several times now. My net out-of-pocket cash from these is -$0.10 thanks to my private health fund. The first one was 50c back, the second cost me 40c. Free contact lenses effectively (ignoring the stupidly high premiums i'm slugged with to negate tax obligations) :)

  • I've only ever used Acuvue dailies (both Moist and Trueye), which have had a base curve of 8.5 and a diameter of 14.2. I wanted to get some monthlies, but none of the monthlies have these exact measurements, with the closest being BC of 8.6 and diameter of 14.2.

Would these probably be okay, or is this something I should be trialing first? I'll be heading into Specsavers tomorrow to buy some new glasses so I can ask them too, but hoping to order ASAP, so thought I'd ask OzB first for your personal experiences. Cheers.

    • +3

Honest answer….it depends. Safest bet is to get checked and fitted by your optom because the other thing you need to take into account is that the make and design for monthlies are different from daily disposables (e.g. the water content and materials).

So play it safe see an optom and they can sort you out with a few trials to give it ago for a few days.

      • Good advice, thanks heaps!

  • +1

Scored 7 months of daily contact lenses for nothing thanks to AHM's optical limit!

All up would have been $480 without rebate and discount, but discount brought it down to $240 and AHM covers it all.

    Winning! Cheers OP!

  • Excellent deal!!!!

  • Cheers mate! Saved $63 :)

  • Cool - saved $420 on a years supply!

  • Bought 6 months worth of contacts. Awesome deal. Thanks!

  • Awesome stuff, perfect timing too, just used up my last pair today. Bought with aftercare in Perth and discount still applied.

  • Well done for a first post OP, thanks for this!
