Or just order from a site like Zenni or the many similar sites, they'll grind and fit your lenses in China and send them out to you. Get your prescription for free at any optometrist.

    • Do they send just lenses to fit into old glasses?

    • how to get free prescription? it needs a medicare card and once every two years is free prescription by medicare rebate

      • Yes use your Medicare card. I think most optometrists bulk bill.

    • What sort of saving?

  • +1

I found other sites cheaper than specsavers by close to $30 or more for 90 packs and supply invoice for PHI rebate so YMMV and do your research beforehand

    • Thanks mate, any site you recommend?

I usually just use google shopping and havent bought from specsavers for a while as ive found cheaper elsewhere always (mainly anytime contacts and bupa optical when i churn to them). But looking now, they seem like they have reduced the prices recently to be more competitive.

Whilst this is a good idea for some people, anyone with a prescription of higher than +-2.00D should get an instore dispenser to measure it up. Especially the higher u go heights and PD’s need be measured as the prescription changes in non central areas of the lens. Multifocals though are a whole different story, needs to be done by a dispenser while wearing the glasses.

      • do u work at OPSM

Nah speaking from the optometrist perspective. Most common reason px have difficulties with higher prescription and multi’s is incorrect measurements and lens corridor lengths unfit for the individuals use.

  • Is this likely stackable with the 2 pairs no gap? (You could now get 2 designer pairs from the $249 single-vision range, no gap.)

Unless you want to look like your glasses are made from glass bottles, you'll want to add multicoat (to reduce reflectiona) nd also likely a higher refractive index lens (to reduce thickness and therefore weight) . I just bought two pairs of glasses from Specsavers, I have Medibank extras, out of pocket cost was over $250 for two pairs - which is still a lot better than some other optometrists

  • Is this targeted? I am only using their extra cover, i don't see any rewards.

    • There is nothing in the offer details to suggest it is targeted to specific Medibank Live Better participants.

Have you enrolled in the Live Better program? The page for this offer on the My Medibank app indicates the eligibility of this reward (and Live Better rewards in general) is:

Must be 16 years or over and a Medibank members with extras cover, or hospital and extras cover, be up to date with premium payments and have signed up to Medibank Live Better rewards with My Medibank to redeem this reward. Excludes Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), Ambulance only cover, ahm covers and other selected covers.

I can see it now. Thank you!

    • I only have Medibank extras cover and I can see the offer.

  • I have ambulance only coverage and have the offer.

How much is that per year? Is it much less than cover through e.g. Ambulance Victoria for $110/year for families?

  • +1

maybe a silly question, how do i claim the code for individual person in a family cover of 3?

  • Anything good to use it for if I already used up my extras ordering glasses a week ago? (No regrets, they had free polarisation promo at the time so I saved like $70)

  • No click and collect for buying contracts online?

  • +1

I'm getting an error message when I'm trying to redeem the code. Anyone else getting this and know a resolution?

    • +1

      Yep.
      "Something went wrong.
      Please try again,
      If problem persists, call us"…
Not spending hours on the phone to claim $30

  • Can’t redeem despite the offer showing up in app.

    • +1

I wonder if it has something to do with the message I can see on the My Medibank app home screen:

      Degradation-LiveBetter
We’re currently experiencing issues with Live Better feature in My Medibank and apologies for the inconvenience.

      • Last year I redeemed points for a voucher in store… it went through but voucher didnt show up till next day… i had to pay with card and the points were just wasted 🤷‍♂️. Their app experience aint that good

  • Clicked redeem on the app, and got confirmation email of the order. Still waiting for the voucher itself.

  • Thanks OP.
