    Great prices!

Any good deals for SSDs? Need a 120gb or 240gb.

  • +1

Great deal on the G8 SE! Also nice price on the G8 and 8tb combo!

    • +2

Yes mate :). We are going mental at the moment, got to clear some storage space at the warehouses and the best way is to give ozbargain a crazy offer. Limited time and stock - Microserver lovers ALERT :).

  • I've read a lot about upgrading the processor on the G8 has anyone here had any personal experience doing this ?

    • +1

Yes a while back. Hard to find the CPUs. Got mine on eBay US. Using the g8 micro as a cheap backup vm failover system for a client. Works well with the upgraded CPU for well over a year now. Trying to remember the CPU was a Xeon E3-1265LV2. Had to use a different heatsink and some other minor mods. offcourse U void your microserver warranty when U go this path. Pretty worth it with the significant performance gain.

      • Wish I could have gotten my hands on that CPU! Couldn't find them anywhere at a reasonable price when I was looking recently

      • +1

Thanks for that reply ! There was a shop in Perth that said they had a few upgraded to that Xeon server for sale. I couldn't remember the name for the life of me. Wasn't cheap they quoted me 800 to 900.

With this deal DIY would be way cheaper. Thought about this for a Plex Media Box.

    • +2

Hard to find cheap Xeon's suitable for the G8's LGA1155 socket as these CPU's are no longer manufactured, but you'll find one if you look hard enough.

I settled on a quad core Xeon E3-1230v2 after I bought my second microserver (G8) from the last SE sale, but I need to tone down some settings as it's power rating is a little higher than whats recommended for the G8 heatsink. Not for the fainthearted but others have done it successfully and with a reasonable selection of CPU's… if you google you shall find…

Good info in the comments on this page too ^

Is the Samsung Pro 16GB MicroSD $9.95 a good deal??

    • +3

Short answer: yes, if 16Gb is enough for you.

Common deals are for the EVO 16Gb (40mb/s read, ~10mb/s write) at ~$8-10. Since this is the Pro (70mb/s read, 20mb/s write) for a similar price, I'd say it is good. There's a new set of Pro MicroSD's out with like 70mb/s write to go with the 70mb/s read, but I think they'd cost a fair bit more than this and I don't think there is a 16Gb model of those.

  • looking to upgrade my RAM for my HP GEn8. anything you can offer? :)

  • any deal on G8 RAM ?

  • Any deals on the gtx 960? been looking for something since I missed the mwave deal.

Still haven't received mouse and no tracking details available from this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/194314
ShoppingExpress have had very poor customer service so far, really disappointed as they seem to offer decent local prices. Very let down by their customer service.
Not just ranting, I want Ozbargainers to be aware that orders can be quite delayed, and not to expect a response from support.

    • Can you please PM me your order ID?
We don't have backorder for this mouse and it should be dispatched long ago.
Also can you provide me the ticket id that you sent?

      cheers
      SE

        Hi SE,

        Sent through the details.
        Order placed/paid 16 May
        Ticket submitted 21st May

Your website states 2-5 day delivery to VIC, it hasn't even been shipped yet
Your website states a 24-48hr response time for support tickets, I never received a response.

I've finally been able to get onto SE on the phone and get a response that my order is now shipping today. Frustrating that I won't get it by when I needed it. It's a little bit ironic that you won't post it express, considering your name :)

Apologies that I sound rude, but I'm just trying to get my order, advise SE that this wasn't up to par with many other retailers on Ozbargain, and advise the Ozbargain public of the issue.

        • Hi Adamiam,

          Have replied your PM.
Main issue caused by incorrect flagging from paypal for your order. We are aiming to dispatch your order by today.

          Cheers
          SE

          @ShoppingExpress:

          It's always someone else's fault…

I guess Paypal are to blame for you not replying to this customers support ticket as well.

Just so people know, the 16GB MicroSD here isn't the newer faster deal PCByte ran yesterday.

But it's still pretty fast and better than the EVO card.

    • You're right, 70MB/s versus 90MB/s. Does anyone know the random read/write speeds of this one? I'm looking for a card for Raspberry Pi & Cubox-i4.

      • +2

Read up to 70mb/s write up to 20mb/s.

        • Thanks, but that's sequential read/write. I'm looking for 4K random read/write speeds.

        • @Orionn:

Yeah decent 4K reads will make a huge difference for the intended use in Raspberry Pi. I tried finding out from Amazon for you but it seems they've gotten rid of the sale of these older cards. The feedback probably lives in (merged into one of the other cards) but it'll be a nightmare to find.

        • @Click_It:
Thanks. I took a punt and ordered one. It probably wouldn't be noticeably slower than the other 90MB/s one, but would be noticeably faster than the Class 4 ones I currently have.

Just so people know, the 16GB MicroSD here isn't the newer faster Samsung PRO deal PCByte ran yesterday.

But it's still pretty fast and better than the EVO card.

  • Up!

Bad timing on that ECC RAM, just bought a few days ago :(

  • Hi guys, can someone explain to me what's the advantage of using a microserver? is it advisable for personal use? thanks

      cheers

Still havent received my $50 voucher. Would be very nice to use that in conjuction with the GTX970…

    • This deal ends the bay before the voucher becomes usable I believe.

  • Hey guys, is it worthwhile me researching if the HP G8 going to be decent to use as a HTPC/Plex server?
Or would it be cheaper/less problems to just build one from scratch on a budget.

    • +1

I would build from scratch as if you are resourceful enough you could build a Media Server with an i3 CPU and alot more flexibility/ upgradability for a comparable price.

      • Thanks man that's what I was thinking.

  • Did SE already sent any code from last deal?

    • Code will start sending tomorrow.

      Cheers
      SE

        Thanks!

I got my package from last deal very well packed, thanks for that! (We all know what AUS Post can do with your packages)

        Cheers

      • Just to state that I hate your deals :( Just brought GTX 980 and then 980 Ti will be announced next week. I'm feeling so frustrated. =/

surley no one should be runing these drives in RAID!?!

  • Any avid ozbargainers know if that gigabyte gtx 970 is worth the money?
I had my sights set on the Msi gaming version
Is this a suitable alternative for the price?

  • Does the MicroSD come with an adapter to SD?

    • no this pro microsd do not come with SD adapter.

      Cheers

  • Any chance of a good 32GB or preferably 64GB SD Card deal?

    • yes - arranging

      • Rep, if you can include the 128GB micro sd as well, I'll be very thankful :)

      • +1

Was that the Kingston deal? There doesn't seem to be much love for that brand's reliability? Any chance of Samsung or Sandisk please :-)?

  • don't you guys & PLE have that 8TB $309 WITH free shipping?

    any n54L deal?

  • looks like the 8TB Seagates are out of stock - cursed by the Procrastination Demons again :)

  • Do you have any of the floppy to sata power connectors the HP micro needs in stock?

  • Out of stock on the 8tb drives. Please get more (..at the same price) (..or cheaper) (..lol)

  • +1

  • You guys going to be stocking the new series of graphics cards? Wouldn't mind ordering from you guys as you have the best price on the SSD I want.

    • yes, we will be listing & stocking the new graphics cards once they available.

  • Rep, Any chance of a deal on a 32GB MicroSD? Just a standard Class 10 would be fine.

    • +1
