  • Do these use generic chains?

Is the price not on that link? (I'm guessing it's a generic $15 chain)

edit: I think it's a bloody great price, even if only a single use chainsaw (by the time the chain needs replacing, the chainsaw should be replaced). I've had enough dramas with my Stihl to consider buying this.

        • I left some feedback below on the ROK chainsaw I purchased. The chain on these matches the quality of the rest of the chainsaw….cheap and nasty. They really are a single use disposable item.

After attempting to cut down 1 small tree in our front yard (it wasn't able too) the chain was blunt and had several broken/missing teeth. The tree in question was about 2m tall and the widest part of the trunk about 20-25cm

Chainsaws are dangerous tools. Made more danderous when you have brands such as ROK producing them. If you want to keep all your body parts, purchase a quality chainsaw. You'll immediately notice the difference and live to tell the story with all your bits still attached

        • Its $31.90 if u set your location u see price . If u use more than a few times a year get a cheap sharpener . I got an ozito for about $50 I think but saved me heaps over the years.

        • @tight-ass:

That's odd. It has an Oregon Bar and Chain on it. I use Oregon chains all the time.

I use Shindawa. The three "quality" brands are Stihl, Husky and Shindawa IMO. My Shindawa is in it's 6th year and going strong and I use it all the time (50 acres and rural) and it runs Oregon bars and chains. I have a electric sharpener.

I was thinking of this one for my parter, little easier to start wield.

Thanks for this. I just added it to the description

    • So this won't cut through Rock or concrete ??

    • +1

Also this has a 45CC motor

      • A simple thing NOT mentioned, SIZE OF THE BAR?? Pitch/gauge of the chain??

        Thanks

        • +1

Size of the bar is in the description 40cm which is 16 inches.
The pitch on the compatible chain I posted is 3/8" so I would think the one included is the same and the gauge on this chain is .050
          Hope that helps

          @HunterOfBargains20:

          Me blind :-)

Thanks, going to grab one to keep for a windy day, cheap as a few hand saws

  • you can also get a set of 3 chains off ebay for $45 …. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/181144458345?_trksid=p2057872.m27…

I bought one of these recently, along with one of their petrol hedge trimmers …..I took them both back to get a refund.

They are absolute rubbish. I knew I shouldn't expect too much given how cheap they are, however the chain tensioner on the chainsaw was stuffed after minimal use. The rip cord/starter on the trimmer is poorly designed and broke on the first use also.

Save your money and avoid ROK tools. They're too cheap and nasty

Today at 6pm is the first time this chainsaw has ever been sold at Masters

I purchased from BigW a couple of months ago. ROK brand has been around for a while.

    • I've had really good success with the Aldi chainsaws. The last one I bought about 5 years ago is still going strong cutting firewood for 5 seasons worth of heating. Bought another a few weeks back when they started discounting them to $150 (down from $180). Only to keep as spare when a don't want downtime for sharpening.

The latest model also has tool free chain tensioning which means less down time again.

Starting them is always a pain but once running they run like a champ. I replace the factory supplied chain for a sthil chain and cut for ever.

    • MADE IN CHINA,,,,,,,,What did you expect

      • +1

Wouldnt suprise me if a fair few if not most of the brand name saws were also made in China these days

      • At the lowest bottom price, one day maybe soon the fuel/oil will cost more than the chainsaw…

  • Thanks. I needed a new steak knife.

    • +4

Sounds like you need new steak

this one looks better than the bunnings one, a little more expensive but better specs.
looks like masters wins this time.

    • +4

Yes…seems like a win for Masters this time

      • +1

Based on above feedbacks I probably get the bunnings deal.

They are both crap, but you chop down one tree with them and you have your moneys worth….

Do they still have those outdoor storage boxes that were on special last week or the week before?

    • Whats your nearest store. I can check. It looks like a few stores have sold out

      • Hoxton Park, Gregory Hills or Chullora

        • All of these stores are showing stock of the 492L box still available so I'd say try them this weekend, they are available at $170 until sold out

  • Any available in Box Hill or Knoxfield in VIC HunterOfBargains20?

    • The Chainsaw looks to have sold out at almost all stores. The 492L storage box is still available at Box Hill and Knoxfield.

      • I m thinking of returning Masters chainsaw and pick up Bunnings 406mm for $78

  • For those that got one. Here's a youtube video I found about assembly, given the instructions it comes with are very sparse. Turns out the little plastic bit inside is there as packing only.
