Not really a good one tho - All it really has going for it it GPS, sd card slot and the name. The processor, RAM, screen resolution and storage all should now place it in the cheapest of the cheap basket. It doesn't even have HDMI to save it. It is, however that cheapest for a while if you really want it to be Samsung.

Is this a better tablet (screen, gaming etc) than say a 2013 Nexus 7?

  Nope, not even close. Even if you discount the fact that Nexus less bloatware, this tablet is worse than 2013 Nexus 7 in terms of even the hardware. Something like Tab Pro 8.4 or Tab S 8.4 from Samsung are better than 2013 Nexus 7, though it's hard to say which one, Nexus or the Samsung tablets I've mentioned, has better user experience since Tab Pro and Tab S both has QHD screen (which can be both positive or negative).
