  • Are Footscray and Richmond stores even still there?
And I miss the Dipper ads.

      • Those ads take me back, I'd be all over that starter team apparel if I could turn back the clock (not the Dimmeys one). I reckon Dippers best ad would have to be the "footy masks" one though, I can't find it online unfortunately but damn that was a catchy jingle.

    • The Footscray one closed a few years ago, there's one in Central West, not sure if that ones still there.

      • The one in Central West is still there

    • They opened a Fitzroy store after Richmond closed:

best value shoe i've ever owned, absolutely hands down best value.

    • +3

not comfortable though. very flat and not arch support…

        not arch support…

        Such trend, very wow. :)

      • +2

The same principle behind Nike free, which retail at upwards of $100 (I'm guessing).

I've worn volleys exclusively for the last ~10 years and I'm not sure why arch support is important, care to enlighten me?

        • +1

If you have flat feet or weak arches its important.

        • @sween64: why?

Primarily to stop foot from rolling inwards or outwards

        • Have had 2 pairs of Nike Frees so far, 3.0 V5 and Free OG, by far the most comfortable shoes I've owned.

          @sween64:
It can be important however as a physiotherapist, its surprisingly not as important as people think. There's such a huge percentage of people with flat fleet and not everyone has joint issues. Its probably more important in those with severely flat feet or who have lower limb joint issues :)

      • Yet Aussie athletes, tennis players, etc blew away the world using these……

        • That's assuming the design hasn't been changed to cut costs.

        • @greenpossum:
I ran a marathon in a pair of Volleys last year. The new volley internationals aren't the same as the old dunlop volleys.

The sole is thin and you really feel the ground. I've got a pair and would only use them on the beach.

      • +1

        Sandshoes?

      • Thin soled shoes can take a while of getting used to because most of us are used to very cushioned shoes now days. Have to allow your body to adapt with the way you walk with thinner soles.

A lot of use have been striking our heels pretty hard on the cushioned shoes, so it can really hurt when we go to thin soled ones.

        • +1

Our bodies did not evolve with concrete pavements.

  • Is the sale available for online?

  • According to site FAQ Dimmeys does not have a delivery service.

  • Where is your local store OP?

    • +1

It looks like the Forest Hill store in VIC but I could be wrong!?

    • Forest Hill, VIC

      • Damn. That's my local. I should've gone today rather than my next opportunity being Wednesday. Hopefully there's a black pair size 8 left.

        • Nope. Mainly 9, 10, 11 and 12s in the men's section. A couple of 6s. Ugly styles for the men.

Women had lots hanging up just to the right as you enter. Mainly black/pink, grey/pink and all white.

        • Yes I thought those women's styles were pretty good (bit more traditional in styling). They did have more smaller mens sizes when I went earlier.

Rip off, they where $6.99 in the 70's

    http://www.volley.com.au/about-us

    • +8

sure. come work for me mate. I'll pay you $150 per week which is what the average wage is in the 70's

    • Actually this would be an insane bargain by your logic.

If you inflated the $6.99 from the 70's to today you would be paying ~$45. So you save ~$35?

  • Are these the older style which are good for canyoning? The newer ones just don't last how they used to.

  • +1

Great bargain, my local store had heaps and not a single person was sniffing around them, that might have been a result of the elderly demographic shoppers in store however. Thanks for the hot tip, I've never been into Dimmeys before and also found an H&M jumper for a cool tenner and quite a few Zara branded clothes too.

  • heres a great little game you could play if you have a lot of dunlop volleys (buy some more if needed, this is an absolute steal, i had to buy them for 30$ each when me and my family started playing this), first tuck your shirt in, then stuff as many dunlop volleys as you can into your shirt haha classic. try to beat my highscore of 7 pairs :-)

  • In case anyone is wondering, the Volleys are still there at the same price.

I picked up four pairs on the weekend…
