      • just 1?

        • Don't know, only got 1. Didn't try for more but I wouldn't think they are that strict.

What does a tasting glass set you back as a commoner (no Citibank)? Went a couple of years ago but can't remember the price.. or the rest of the day.

      $5 from memory

  • Can i bring my own glass along with lanyard? i bought one last year at bendigo show !

Any tips for freebies :) ?

    • yes, accept them with thanks :)

  • I have a general question about the Melbourne FAW show. I have free tickets for my spouse and I, does that mean we'd be able to go and enjoy it without spending cash, or once inside does it still cost money to see/do anything? Also, would it be a nightmare taking a small child, or would it be OK?

Some samples are free, love cheese and wine and beer sections — again samples :) more than enough .

Oh but you do need a wine glass . They normally sell them at venue. not sure if you can BYO.

From memory the food trucks are all cash .

You probably need to pay for a wine glass but from comments above that's pretty cheap. You could bring your own, but I reckon having the event glass makes it easier to get samples. It's a small investment anyway for an abundance of tastings. I tried dozens of wines last I went, and you don't really need to show an interest in actually buying any. Just turn up and say you like wine and most stalls will happily talk you through a tasting of their entire range. It can get messy.

To summarise: I didn't believe the hype first time I went, but you can get more free (no strings) wine samples here than you know what to do with. Food-wise you probably need to line up a hearty paid lunch, only because the free nibbles won't stop you getting completely liquored - if you choose to attack the day as such.

  • Is Sydney gonna get anything? Feel so lonely

  • If you get in early, you'll be able ti try some bite size portions before the crowd comes. Anything after noon is going to be a struggle inside.

  • I have Sunday double pass but would prefer Saturday, anyone want to swap with me?

  • So is it free entry for citibank car holder or just free glass?

    • just free glass :)

      • Thanks Mate.

  • Top tip from today's show (Saturday)….get to the aisle of cheese tastings AS SOON AS YOU GET IN THE DOOR.

I didn't even know about this area until 2pm, COULD NOT MOVE AN INCH, but was patient and only managed to get an abundance of tastings because my tiny and fiesty 5ft Italian Mum was able to sneak her way underneath peoples armpits to get to the front and pass my some samples.

Had to leave the area after 15 minutes for fear of passing out due to no air.

At 4pm was packed out busy still, but could at least breathe and get good samples!!

    Consider yourself warned!!

  • Hi, If anyone has some tickets for the Good Food and Wine Show to spare, please PM me. Thanks!

I have 2 tickets to sunday's show but as a newbie, how do i get someone to PM me or send the tickets.

    • i've pm'd you :)

  • If anyone has some tickets for the Good Food and Wine Show to spare, please PM me. Thanks!

  • imo show wasn't as good as previously - quality/range/variety :(

1000 free citibank glasses ran out by the time i arrived at 3pm :(

omg! stand sold out twice by 2pm and 4pm

highlights: Woombye Cheese Company, La Sirene Brewing

mkr fans: rocco was at the nic+rocco stand and i think that fellow series 3 contestant carly was in the cbd

  • I thought this was for free entry. I just got here and lucky I had an unused ticket I booked for yesterday :) now excuse me while I make good use of my free wine glass

  • Just came back from the festival and it was good. For those who were observant enough, I actually wore the Orange Ozbargain shirt on the floor. :)

Got a blue eco-bag and a fair few of the costco chocolate pieces, along with boxes of coconut pro-biotic milk. 'OMG' yogurt packs were gone and same with the Bertocchi salami (only good-valued stuff on the floor).

Supprisingly, there were a lot of cheese and random cakes/cookies/other sweet foods to try out. Some stalls also had 'last hour' specials, such as the 5 blocks of cheese for $10, as opposed to 4 for $10.

Overall, pretty good - but in terms of no. of freebies to be had, you'd be disappointed.
