Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark I Camera (Body Only) $332 JB Hi-Fi Canberra - Save $200

660

I spotted this while visiting Canberra yesterday. Not sure if available nationally. It's no longer listed on the JB-Hifi website as it's presumably clearance stock given the Mark II version is now available (for $1200 or so…)

Cheapest I could find on Static Ice was $550 so I reckon this constitutes a solid bargain. I don't have an OM-D E-M5 myself (I've got the Canon EOS M3) but have friends who do and they love it. It's got built-in image stabilisation, viewfinder, flash, and weather-sealing.

This is for body only, ie you'll need to buy a lens too, but these can be had very cheaply on ebay (particularly the non-weather sealed lenses)

  • How many were there?

    • not sure - there was one on display

  • +1

how much petrol to drive there from Sydney?

    • +7

      290km each way = 580km.

My Ford Falcon would do that using about $80 worth of fuel if that helps

      So still a bargain! :-)

(Not a bargain for me anymore - I'm back home in Hobart.)

      • Maybe $35 for me :)

  • +2

I'm running to my local store right now!!

  • Bargains abound for the discerning photographers who aren't caught up in the crave for the latest and greatest gears.

  • Good price on the body but big fail on the 12-40mm lens in photo which is $98 more than online price?

    • The 12-40 is $818 at Teds at the moment

      • Cheaper still at Gerry Gibbs for past few weeks at $799. If my picture snapping abilities mached my ambition I'd definitiley be owning one instead of drooling about em :)

Should this been listed when you know of only one at this price?

    • So why the down vote? The rules state there should be sufficient quantity, usually 10 or more.

      • There is more than one JB Hifi you know

        • Of course there is, but the OP gave no evidence that there was more than one available.
Fortunately others have made the effort to check. Nice camera deal if you can score one.

        • @theguru1: Guess what I mean is I have found in the past even if one store has only one or two products on sale you can post it as a deal cause there will be others in other stores.

        • +1

@theguru1: You expect him to drive to another JB just to check if they have stock of an item he already bought? Phone call is not reliable as they often won't bother taking the time to check and this item is not available online. Either upvote or move on, no need to nitpick.

        • @Agret: Well it seems many people called stores to find stock. I never said to drive to stores. I have found JB very helpful and have held stock with a phone call.

  • That price is really good! Had this camera before and thinking of getting one again if there are some in my area.

  • I bought the last one in Brisbane city store

    • +7

It was you! I was just there and they said they had 1 in stock but he couldn't find it :( you were probably buying it at the time

      • yeah, sorry bud. I think I got there just before you

  • Bought the last one from Merrylands store. Ahaha.

  • +3

I believe it's nation wide. Called a few stores around Victoria for stock at $322. :)

    • do you know who have stock? :P

      • I checked around the western suburbs, most of them had 1 left on display and some said they MIGHT have 1 brand new. It's just a matter of calling the store. I just picked up a brand new one for 322 with extra 2 years warranty for $64. :)

  • Still a very good mirrorless camera. Love mine :)

  • this or the Sony a6000?

    • Sony a6000, much better camera in every aspect.

      • thanks mate. I can't find a good deal on the Sony, any idea when the a7000 (possibly) is coming out?

        • rumour is that the replacement will be more expensive than the current A6000 (positioned more like the old NEX7) so I'm going to assume that there wont be a huge price drop on clearance.

If I could find the A6000 at this price I'd snap it up to use alongside my A7 :)

Very helpful chap at Bourke St found me one at another store (Hoppers Crossing). Good service.

Oh man I have an E-M1, i'd love this as a second/backup body. Calling!

  • Any in Sydney city?

    • Sold out - they only had display models which sold in the morning

  • Couldn't find any in 2 of the Perth stores (Enex and Piccadilly Arcade).
Didn't look n the underground one

  • None in sydney

  • Picked up last new in box at castle hill JB Home store, it was a misplaced box they found after I enquired.. They had already sold ex-display (",) Thanks OP!!!!

  • One has just been returned to Blacktown. Unopened.

    • I just picked up that one. As far as I know batteries should hold a bit of charge but the camera wouldn't switch on. Will see when I get home.

lmao.. funny post of the day..

Clearly states body only in the title.

      • Yeah and when you were buying it…

How disappointed are you that the iPhone didn't include an eye?

Picked up an ex-display from Melbourne Bourke Street today, staff were great about it. Perfect timing before my holiday tomorrow - hello TRS! They also matched Ted's on the 45mm f1.8 lens.

  • Almost bought the display model at Macquarie Centre though it's the kit one. $480 including the 12-50mm. Staff said the body was showing as 1 left in stock but couldnt find it. Oh well, $332 saved.

    • how much did they charged you for the 12-50mm?

      • It was part of the kit. $480 for the body + 12-50mm lens. Apparently this was the old first model. The one on clearance the OP posted is the Elite version.

Called Camberwell Vic and was advised of stock there.

  • Holmesglen also have 2 in stock, one display, one BNIB

  • Olympus is a nice camera.. This one is a great one to start off with.

Some of the photos I shot are on an Olympus DSLR.
    The ones in the album.

  • Went into Thomastown store(VIC) a few minutes away from my house and picked up a BNIB for $332 :)

  • No stock at Garden City in WA but found that Digidirect have this Olympus OM-D E-M5 Elite with 14-42mm II R kit for $499 + $15.90 postage

    • Do you know if it's gray?

      • The Sony I bought from them previously was Aussie stock, and this from the website FAQ:

"12 month back-to-base official Australian warranty. We are among the few online suppliers with direct accounts with the Australian distributors of leading digital brands, including Canon, Nikon, Sony, Panasonic, Olympus, Pentax just to name a few!"

  • For those in the Newcastle region, just went to Kotara JB and there was no stock there.
The bloke there checked stock for me, Tuggerah had two, and he was happy to transfer one in for me.
So - possibly one left at Tuggerah!
    Big thanks to OP!

Why not just return it so someone can get it for $332. So much for ozbargain spirit..

      • I gave him an extra $18 for his troubles :P

  • Anyone having buyers remorse ? Looking to get one.

    • I just returned the body back to Bourke st Store at 1pm today so should be available for your to pick up.

      • +1

        Why!?

        • it was an impulse purchase and I didn't do the research. It didn't have wifi or full swivel screen lcd (only a tilt one) so not as useful for me as I have another camera that meets my needs without these additional features. Need to wait for the Mark 2 (which has these features) to go down in price before I take my plunge with Olympus.

  • Got the last one at Tweed Heads for $299! :)

  • Picked up a BNIb with receipt for $350 from user above who had no lenses. Happy days. Should go well as a second body with my E-M1. Changing lenses between macro / zoom / prime was getting a bit annoying

  • Gerry Gibbs Camera House has the HLD-6 + battery(Hahnel brand) bundle for $149 for anyone interested. Thay have 5 left in stock as of today. I bought one and recommend it if you have big hands.

  • I know this deal was posted a couple of weeks ago now but! I just picked one up boxed from JB Strathpine (Brisbane North). I was there looking to pick up a different camera but couldn't pass up this deal.

  • I was at joondalup lakeside mall (Perth) yesterday and they still have stock at the jbhifi there.
