Where would you put his chip?

      • +1

        under his skin

        • +3

I left that wide open for you….

        • +4

          @nocure:
his already got a chip on his shoulder with everyone on here, so where else?

        • @tuzii:
          There you go.

        • Could we rehome him while we're at it?

        • or at the very least neuter him?

The less you have, the more you get for free.

Assuming for a minute that you are not a troll - microchipping a pet benefits the animal, animal shelters (like Lort Smith) and the community, as well as the owner. So you missed out on a freebie by being privileged - I'm certain that most HCC holders would rather be earning an income that meant they wouldn't need one; but really, this is about their animals rather than them.

Lort Smith receives donations (from both the public and suppliers) with a mandate to help the animals of people with limited means. Reducing animal stays in shelters and reuniting lost animals with their owners is a good use of those donations, and supports their target demographic. This "promotion" isn't meant as a marketing gimmick or loss leader - it is to genuinely help those who can't afford it and reduce the number of animals in shelters.

some old indian dude once said….
“The True Measure of Any Society can be found in how it treats its most vulnerable members”

        • -6

Taking your Indian saying a bit further: I guess societies run by MUSLIM ISIS terrorists aren't very good since they are always busy killin' and beheading not to mention throwing from great heights vulnerable members of their society, i.e. homosexuals…

        • +1

@Metroplex78: you could have just said ISIS or terrorists..

        • @Metroplex78: you could also have mentioned that christians did almost the exact same thing…. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crusades

i dont know why you have to single out certain religious groups, all religions are equally as evil as the rest.

just look at religious morons in australia with there silly fake jesus and the equally moronic imaginary god… like that bigot tony abbot. he wants to take away womens rights (to abortion pill just to name one) and "marriage equality" for certain sections of the public as well as the right to kill yourself if you so desire (even if your terminally ill and in great suffering), i mean surely if there is one thing you own in this world it is your own self to do what you wish with it as long as that wish does not harm or infringe on someone elses rights.

but i guess being narrow minded and indoctrinated is just what religious people do…

Can't be more positive about the Lort Smith in North Melbourne.

I put down my dog of 18years just this morning. The staff were great and very helpful and it was a good experience for a terrible situation.

    • +1

Sorry to hear, I hope he went well and passed easy :(

    • +2

Sincere condolences on losing your friend. 18 years is a pretty good run.

    • +1

Sorry to hear that, glad you've had 18 years of pure joy

  • When can my dog get a health care card?

    • +1

it was only 1965 that indigenous australians gained the same voting rights as other australians, even up 1908 women were not given equal voting rights, surely its only a matter of time before our pets also get the same righs as people… caus after all lets face it dogs are the best people

Lort Smith is a Not-for-profit organisation (ie. charity), for animal care for people that are economically disadvantaged. (and last time I heard, they were haemorrhaging money…) If you can afford to have your dog/cat micro-chipped for $37, please let people that are in need take advantage of this deal :)

    • It's only for pensioners and health care card people, so the people who need it most should get it.
