      • also you can pool within a group. $450 per kid I remember? so for family of 2A2C, you can bring back 2x900 + 2x450, total of $2700 worth of depreciated goods.

  • Thanks OP. Mine has just been delivered already. Estimated delivery was for early next week.
Had been eyeing off the SJCAMs previously because of the price and comparison reviews. Obviously they're still cheaper but at $319 for this model it was too hard to pass up.
Now to wait for the $50 voucher….

  • +2

Does anyone have a cached image of the original deal ? Pretty sure it said GoPro + $50 voucher in the listing with no mention of terms or conditions ??

  • Item title had the wording: "PLUS $50 eBay VOUCHER"
AND the deal description was this was stated as:

"LIMITED OFFER: Receive a $50 eBay Voucher with your purchase! Simply Buy Now and checkout as normal. eBay will send a $50 eBay Voucher to your MyeBay account on 1st July 2015 to spend on anything on eBay during the month of July. Limit one per customer."

No other terms or conditions mentioned. Should be good to argue for the $50 voucher based on that.

    • So eBay will send us who bought this cam a $50 voucher next month to spend on anything (on eBay), right?

      • Yeh that's should be right if you didn't use the 20% code. I did both and hope we somehow get both but I chatted with an eBay rep and he said only the 20% would go through due to terms and conditions. It still an excellent deal either way.

  • As posted in the original 20% off thread

Not to be used in conjunction with any other eBay coupon/voucher.

  • So… Given that my invoice says $399, I could just return this and make $80 profit?

    • Does DS still accept returned goods for change of mind?

      • Ah, they don't. Just had a look.

        • +1

I returned a note 4 a few weeks ago. No question asked.

        • +1

@aldoduco: Took my GoPro back yesterday… It had a faulty battery door hinge.

I'll just say this, if you have the option, always click and collect! Makes it far, far easier to get replacements etc. I had to liaise between DS online and the dick smith store to organise my replacement and they couldn't just give me a replacement, it has to get mailed out to me…

          Ridiculous.

        • @astrodude:

ah, the note 4 was c&c

        • @aldoduco:

Did you just say you want a refund?

        • @ma12k:

          no

    • you can always resell it for about 350 and make an 80$ profit (i got my 50$ ebay voucher so i will say that the net price is 270)

  • Has anyone received their eBay order for delivery?

    • Yup, got mine last week.

    • Mine is not even posted yet according to Ebay…

    • Yeah, got it, and returned it for a fault, and received the replacement since then.

You can try calling dick smith online and asking them to change it to instore collection, they might help you do that. Depends who you get.

1300 366 644. Also as soon as the dude starts talking just press 2. Have your e1xxxxxxxx number handy, it's on your invoice.

    • Mine has not been delivered yet. i had to call them up just to get my order number :/

  • i missed out on this deal due to rushing in and using my code on a phone so im trying to hunt down the next best price for the GoPro.
at the moment Kogan has theirs for $443- which would give me the $50- voucher for next month. seems the cheapest
but im also wondering about the (unconfirmed) 20% off ebay but since most of the GoPros are back to over $500- brings price down to around $400-440ish
or maybe just wait for a 2nd hand one to pop up, any 1 selling…

  • So, my GoPro has been a paperweight.

I turn it on and it works for about 10 seconds and then freezes.

When it works, and I go to turn it off, it'll freeze completely. Haven't even had a chance to put an SD card in it yet :(

    Anyone else having similar experience?

    • mine has been working fine so far, though had some trouble to hook it up with GoPro app on my Samsung phone initially.
have used it with a 8GB sandisk extreme pro, recorded over 30 minutes video and some pix. Yet to do any video with the 64GB extreme card, however the camera shows can do over 4 hours video, might try it this weekend.

Confirmed I got my $50 voucher today :)

    • +1

      Got mine too
time to spend on some wasabi now

    • Yeh, got mine as well.

    • Can confirm. I got mine today too. I wonder if it's the same code for everyone.

      • i believe its the same code. it's just linked to your username.

      • Haven't received mine… If it is a generic code, does anyone mind sharing so those that didn't receive the email can try? Happy to be PM'd! Thanks.

    • I haven't received mine :(
Does it appear in your eBay page or did they email you the voucher?

      • email

        • Cheers. Obviously I haven't got it.
This buy hasn't been smooth-sailing for me at all. I had to call and chase up DS about my order after one week and they still haven't sent me the GoPro. Did finally receive it last week.
Now this voucher hasn't arrived yet :/

  • already spent the credit on wasabi charger and batteries as well as couple of USB micro SD adapters.

  • What a bargain, got my code today. Thanks OP, end up paying $270 for the GoPro

  • all up, spent $410, including 2 extra batteries, charger, 2 SD cards (64G + 8G), 28-piece accessory pack as well as couple of USB adapters. unbelievable

    • which 28 piece did you get?

        • how is the quality of your accessories kit?

        • @kimba88: to be honest I have not had chance to use them yet, but I do think they are good value for that price.
I have tried the sucking cup on the inside the windscreen, found it holds very well. Have not had the gut to try it on the outside in suburban traffic though, thinking of one day take a drive in national park to test it out.

        • @gotcha: thanks. I'll look into it. I'm thinking I might need a couple of accessories such as the selfie stick for my Europe holiday.

        • @kimba88: selfie stick does not have any control on it so you will have to use your mobile phone app

        • @gotcha: ah so I'm probably best off finding one with a control on it so im not holding two devices making myself a target for thieves. Thanks for the heads up

    • The total cost of the GoPro system still starting to add up:
      - GoPro 4 silver $319
      - 2 Wasabi batteries + charger $40
      - 64Gb Sandisk Extreme card $57
      - 34-piece accessory pack $10 (after eBay $50 discount)
      Total cost = $426.

Next going to look for a steadicam. Cheaper than a gimbal and I can also use with my digital camera.

      • Or you could do this youtube vid instead of steadicam.

and which 34 piece did you get? struggling to decide which one to get so many of them. I guess the more I pay for the more pieces I get?

        • +1

Nice simple technique for stabilisation, only that you look a bit funny tugging it against your face :)

          I ordered this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Accessories-Pack-Case-Chest-Head-…

        • I guess the more I pay for the more pieces I get?

Just make sure they don't include the number of cable ties in that count. :)

        • @eug: Seems like my package doesn't include any cable ties :(
          Oh wait… I don't care about cable ties :P

        • @edfoo: how is the quality of you accessories kit?

        • @kimba88: Only used the windscreen suction mount once so far. Quality is OK, probably not as good as GoPro OEM quality, but they seem to work as described.

        • @edfoo: Thanks for that. Still tossing up whether i should get one for my europe travels. Gota spend this voucher on something!

        • @kimba88: Have you bought some spare batteries +/- charger such as the Wasabi? If I have to choose between spending the voucher on the Wasabi batteries or the accessory pack, I would choose the batteries first.

        • @edfoo: Ahh, yeah I was thinking about getting those too. But the Damn price went up by $5 :-(

  • Planning to use my $50 voucher tonight. Most likely gonna buy a microSD card with it for my GOPRO. Thoughts on this particular SD card for $82.50? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Lexar-633x-95MB-s-16GB-32GB-64GB-…

    (64GB version)

  • incredible (i didn't think we'll get the 50$ based on condition 16 but … woah!)

  • So, so happy this voucher came! Can anyone link what accessories they are buying with the $50 voucher? I really have no idea with gopros :-)

      • How come a lot of people are buying extra batteries? Do the batteries drain that quickly?

        • from what i heard, stock battery lasts just over an hour. so 2 extra batteries and a charger would pretty much guarantee i am covered in that department.

        • @gotcha: Wow, thats not very long at all. I'm pretty sure a normal waterproof camera lasts longer than that

        • @kimba88: It's up to you individual how you are planning to record your video, may be you can live with just one battery.

    • Got the UV lens protector to use in my frame mount:
      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/121386575534?_trksid=p2057872.m27…

Rubber covers for the waterproof housing lens and camera lens:
      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/331430541686?_trksid=p2057872.m27…

And of course everyone's favorite Wasabi batts, as a pair with charger:
      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/251714361525?_trksid=p2057872.m27…

Total damage $2.19 after using the voucher. Really pleased we got it, wasn't expecting it at all after reading through the T&Cs a couple days ago!

      • Will your lens protector and waterproof housing lens fit the go pro hero 4 silver? It says its for the hero 3 and 3+

        • +1

Yes I have a 3+ and they are the same as a 4. All my 3+ accessories bar batts are compatible with the 4.

        • FWIW I have a hero 3 waterproof case cover and it doesn't fit the hero 4 waterproof case. Not even close. The lens cap is fine.

        • @astrodude: The Hero 3 and 4 underwater housings are the same. You probably bought the same Hero 3 housing lens cover as me - it doesn't fit my Hero 3 or 4. No idea where they got their measurements from. The lens cap is fine.

        • @eug: the 3 is different from the 3+ and 4 which are the same.

        • @highon2str: Whoops I missed that. You mentioned the 3+ which was what I had in mind when I read the reply.

      • Wasabi batteries ozbargained -.-

        • lol, ordered first thing 1st July morning with ebay credit, delivered lunch time today

        • Haha and it is not even a bargain, just usual price too.

        • @edfoo: what he meant was related to ebay credit i suppose? :)

  • Could someone PM me the code because I haven't got it yet.

    • I think it needs to appear in your eBay page before you can use the code.

      • I wonder why some people are getting the code from eBay and others are not…? We would all have purchased within a short period of time.

        • Not sure. Others received theirs yesterday. I didn't get mine so I had to email eBay and I received mine this morning.

        • @edfoo: Thanks for the reply! Did you only buy the GoPro during the promo or did you buy something else as well?

Would you mind divulging what you said to them to get the voucher? It seems a couple of others were told they weren't eligible

          Thanks!

        • +1

@moola: I told eBay I bought this GoPro on 15/6/2015 with the item number shown, and that I still haven't received my $50 voucher. I received a reply back earlier this morning. I only purchased this GoPro with that CTWENTY code, may be the others also used some other vouchers along with this CTWENTY code and thus they are not qualified for the $50 voucher? I am not sure, you can clarify with them.

        • @edfoo: check the comment by @Kupo below, I thought I didn't have it either but then I found it.

        • +1

@astrodude: Thanks astrodude, actually I already received my voucher this morning and spent it on an accessory pack :)

        • @edfoo: which pack? :-)

        • @kimba88: Cheap knock-off from eBay. I posted the link above for wjb.

        • @edfoo: Ahhh.. thanks. Just saw it. This might sound like a silly question.. but i thought the go pro was already waterproof.. why do you need the extra waterproof housing?

        • @kimba88: Err not sure if you have mistaken, but that pack doesn't include any housing.

        • @edfoo: Sorry, you are correct. But do we need to buy waterproof housing anyway?

        • @kimba88: The underwater housing that's included with the GoPro is what makes it waterproof. The actual gopro itself without the housing is not waterproof.

        • @eug: Oh, that makes a bit mroe sense. Glad i didn't test it out without housing then! I've never owned a Go Pro, so i've got no idea how these things work. Hehe

        • @kimba88: Sounds like it's a good idea for you to view a couple of YouTube videos explaining the basic of GoPro. There are many videos available.

        • @edfoo: Just watched this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbyyRvqPCqA Found this one to be helpful.. Man, Go Pro's are confusing!

    • +4

Check your "My eBay" page to see if you've got it. I didn't get any emails about it but it's there under "Vouchers".

      1. Go to: http://www.ebay.com.au/myb/Summary
      2. Scroll to bottom of page, it should appear under "Vouchers*" (or ctrl+f and search for 'vouchers' in your browser)
      • They must have activated it recently for my account; the voucher is there now and I'm confident it wasn't there before. Thanks @edfoo: for your assistance!

  • No more wasabi…!!??

    • I think it's back up now, but at $54.90. Grrr
