Hmm looking for either Samsung Pro 64Gb or Sandisk Extreme 64Gb for my new GoPro 4 silver. No deal available :/

    • For $16.98 I just took a punt on the Evo 32GB for the GoPro 4 Silver, while I wait on a Lexar to be delivered. I know the Evo isn't on the official GoPro list, but hoping it works ok.

      • I'm using a Evo 32 GB atm for my GoPro 4 Silver and its fine for me at least.

        • Thanks for the info, good to know.

I have read a number of users' experience past 2 days and it appears if you are planning to record video with ProTune, or at higher than 1080P resolution at faster than 30fps, the EVO will struggle and gives error or fragmented video files.

        • Thanks edfoo, I'll keep that in mind when using the Evo.

        • +1

not sure about the 32GB version but the 64GB version says write speed of 15 MB/s. That's 120 Mbps data rate.
So should easily be enough for 1080p60 fps at ~40 Mbps.

If it fails then there's something wrong with the specs.

        • @Phoebus: Well yeah that's what you thought. Apparently if we just go by the spec, then even some class 4 cards should be able to handle 1080p60 video, but no, GoPro is fussy. That's why GoPro website recommends Sandisk Extreme, Lexar 633x (and now Samsung Pro) for Hero 4 Black and Silver. Bear in mind that EVO write speed is Maximum write speed, so often you don't achieve that speed at all time. If there is other computing process going on, or writing a new video file, then the speed may drop even further. So if it drops down to 5MB/s write speed, that's 40Mb/s, then you are hitting the limit of the video file.

        • @Phoebus:

If it fails then there's something wrong with the specs.

are they same type of "specs" as USB2.0 which promises 480Mbit/s or 802.11n which promises 600Mbit/s?

        • +1

          @AlexF:
No, they are not theoretical bandwidth like those two, for SD card ratings they are (or at least they are supposed to be) measured real world attainable speeds.

        • -2

          @pinchies:

not theoretical bandwidth like those two

USB and WiFi speeds aren't theoretical, they are practical, but are only achievable under specific conditions, configurations and environments.

… measured real world attainable speeds.

on a new card, or one that has seen many write/erase cycles? Burst or sustainable? Which FS? Using what sized sectors?

UHS-I Class 1 cards are only spec'ed to 10Mb/s, sustainable.

    • Hey bro same here. Pls Let me know if any deals cheers

Regret not buying the 128GB MicroSD for under $80 delivered from the ebay special.. sigh.. :(

  • Noticed on the free shipping you can select insured for free (for what it's worth)

Shopping Express > Shopping Square for those that don't understand the description.

  • Thanks, got myself a 128gb for my note 4 :)

  • I might give these guys a go. I bought a 64gb card off Shopping square, after 8 weeks of wait/emails etc, got my money back.

    • +2

Have bought a couple of 64 gb microsd from here before. Got fairly quick delivery. Hope this helps.

  • Thanks got the 32GB to use with my chromebook :) Going to be loading some roms on there!

  • Has anyone bought and tested Samsung EVOs from Shopping Express before?

Curious because I recently bought a 64GB Evo from eBay for $35 and it turned out to be a fake/faulty product. I think more likely fake as the seller very quickly refunded rather than offering to send a replacement.

By fake I mean H2testw found 16GB of usable space, the other 48GB was totally corrupt.

It's a fairly common scam where high capacity flash is sold with 2-16GB of actual flash but the firmware has been programmed to lie about capacity. User doesn't figure it out until months/years later (who fills a 64GB from the get go?)

Not saying that is the case here but I highly recommend people check all their flash memory before using it, particularly when bought at a significant discount.

These guys are fully legit - just search through ozbargain, they're extremely popular.

    • +2

Same, have bought a few items from them in the past. Fast delivery with local purchase reassurance. In fact I just bought another 32Gb from this deal (for my rear car dash cam). In the mean time, I will wait for a deal on the faster Samsung Pro (or Sandisk Extreme) card hopefully in near future.

    • Just confirming that the 64GB Evo I got from Shopping Express was genuine.

      Passed all tests.

  • Considering the 64GB for $36.89, but realised I got the same card on Amazon for ~$29 around 4 months ago.

Is 36.89 considered cheap right now due to weak Aus currency etc?

  • +1

Got one from ebay a few week ago (http://goo.gl/Mdd8He) and it was fake.

Seller refunded my payment via paypal but never replied to my messages asking for a return address…?

What would you do…? Leave feedback and keep the item…?

    • Keep it. Sending counterfeit items is illegal anyway. (and the seller wouldn't really want it back because the cost of that card is probably only 20c)

    • Same thing happened to me. Just chuck it in the bin. Not much more you can really do.

If you pursue it they will just say they didn't know it was fake and were defrauded by their supplier.

    • You're brave buying an item like an SD card from what is essentially a garage seller.

      • A risk worth taking…

Thanks OP. Gonna get the 32Gb for my Asus memo pad 7. Hopefully it will work fine

Note there's also a sandisk ultra 32GB for 16.95 as well… I personally prefer sandisk, been very reliable memory cards for me.
    (edit:which I just purchased!! )

    • +1

How would you compare the Samsung EVOs to the SanDisk Ultras? I know SanDisk is a more reliable brand a few years back but nowadays these SD cards feels like they're being produced someone in the same huge factory in China and just labelled differently…

      • I bought 4 32gb evo's when they were on special at MSY for $9.00 and they have been great. Used then in go pro, dashcam, phone, DSLR with no issues at all. Very good for the price

    • +1

The price must have changed.. It's showing up as $25.

      • I can't get the price shown here as 'delivered' either.

  • I purchased a SanDisk Evo Extreme Plus 16 GB SD card 80MB/s from previous deal. Now it's been 5 weeks now I still haven't got the item. I kept emailing and call them, but they said they will resolved it quickly. Dont know what to do :(

    • The Title suggest both Sandisk & Samsung model (EVO = Samsung, Extreme Plus = Sandisk). I reckon you bought something off Ebay?

Is it via our Ebay store?

      Cheers
      SE

    • What are you talking about? There is no such thing called SanDisk Evo Extreme Plus card. It's either SanDIsk Extreme Plus or Samsung EVO.

  • I recently bought a microsd from an ebay seller, and it looked like a genuine sandisk.. but the card was a fake, I lost a lot of photographs. It was only a 8gig card that had been reprogrammed to act like a 64g.
There is a free program you can run called h2testw and it tells you if the card is genuine.

I'm not saying that these aren't genuine, just letting people know that they are out there, and there's a lot of them.

    • Exactly. In China you could even buy fake eggs.

Last one I bought from this mob through OZB came from China.

shopping square is not the same as shopping express.

You should mistake us for another company, we don't have office in, nor ship items from China.

Thanks OP for the post and ozbargain for the support. Our 64Gb has sold out but luckily we still have other 64GB available at very good price:

    • Is the Sandisk Ultra 64GB a lot slower vs Evo…?
Was thinking on getting one for my cheap Gopro Hero 4S

      • Neither cards are recommended by GoPro.

Great price, store and Store Rep. From the last sale, got my SD card after 2 days. Previous order of a tablet, I ordered a from their website on Sunday night around 11 pm and it was posted next day on Monday afternoon.

Just a heads up for anyone considering buying from Shopping Express.

I have bought numerous items in the past and always been happy with the delivery and service received.

I have contacted them regarding a faulty SD card under warranty and have been advised that I would need to pay them $10 to cover shipping costs to have my 16gb card replaced (currently on sale for approx $10).

Surely $10 shipping on an $10 SD card is excessive as part of a warranty claim?

I might as well buy a new one larger capacity one for that price or a similar one from a competitor - it seems a shady practice in my mind.

    • +1

I agree that is a bit cheap from SE. It's not rysith's fault the card is faulty.
