I chuckled to myself way more than I should have to this.

Also, since last month, the BCA is available for free, published online by the ABCB as the National Construction Code (NCC)
    http://services.abcb.gov.au/NCCOnline/Publications/Publicati…
Volume 2 is for class 1 and 10 residential buildings. Volume 3 is the plumbing code.

    • oh, that is sweet! it always annoyed me that an average person couldn't look at these things without paying $$$

    • Awesome, thanks for that.

    • Great. Thanks for that. Now if only Standards were free as well…

    check your local library?

  • sweet deal but i need the electrician one too so i can wire it when i'm finished

  • Just wanted to chime in to say how good these books are.

For easy to read, up-to-date and Australian information on construction, Allan Staines books are the best by far. Bought all of these when studying construction at TAFE, and these beat all the other text books hands down.

While they're not as detailed as some textbooks, the accessibility and relevance of the information more than makes up for it, and after reading through these you'll understand the concepts and terminology well enough to go onto heavier reads (like the BCA for instance).
