it's gray..and it's refurbished…so no deal for me! You don't even know how much refurbishment is done to the TV..

not gonna down vote cuz some people might still find it bargain buy

  • damn i was willing to sell my Soniq 48" + TCL 50" to get that Sony 55" lol

  • What is the picture quality on the w850 panel vs the w600. I don't need 3D.

  • I can remember when we used to get an RA (return authorisation) approved by Sony for faulty goods that instead of it getting sent back to Sony, it all went direct to Grays online from our store with pre printed con notes from Sony. Perhaps they refurbish there; perhaps they just send to the next customer.
Anyway, this was a several years ago so i don't know how they do things these days. As always Caveat Emptor.

  • Any more Sony KD79X9000Bs ???

  • Grays description of refurbished…."Products listed as 'Reconditioned' have typically been used by a consumer for a limited period but then have been tested and repaired where necessary (unless otherwise specified) so that they function according to the manufacturer's specifications. Some items that may vary from this standard and any variances are specified in the product description. Please note some individual items may show signs of wear, such as scratches and marks common with used items. In some instances accessories may vary from the standard (for example, software or manuals may be missing or different, no original packaging)."….. Too much of a gamble for me, doesn't sound like a deal.

    • Sounds more like 'used' to me.

  • Hope you guys remembered the 5.5% cashrewards cash back too

  • I've had the instant email alerts set up for the past year to buy a new Bravia, and the one day I don't read my emails…. kick self

    • This ain't new probably a good miss in the end.

  • Sony 2015 TV's are coming very soon, probably trying to clean out all remaining stock.

  • As good as some of these prices may sound buying refurbed goods from Grays is hit and miss..

    Price in title

  • Just got mine delivered now - unboxing it. Accessories (remote etc) all seem brand new, have plastic etc still on them. Getting to the TV now… soon find out :)

EDIT: Either I am a terrible engineer (most likely) or the TV stand doesn't fit. And not in the manual for some reason !!

EDIT2: I am a terrible engineer. Figured out the stand (go me…). Only thing is it seems to be missing an antenna cable, so have to go pick one up. Screen looks clear and crisp and no visible scratches etc. Pretty happy with it, despite the fact I can't watch anything on it yet :P

    • My TV stand didn't fit - it was far too small. Was yours too big by any chance?

  • +1

Had my TV KDL55W800B delivered this morning can confirm it's all good - accessories are included glasses, remote, stand etc.(Vesa spacers included but no screws(4 x M6 12mm required)) all sealed and brand new. Old stock perhaps as the box was showing some damage - great buy for around $500

  • Really dumb question… is this the right cable to go from wall to tv? http://www.dicksmith.com.au/tv-rf-cables/tv-coaxial-cable-wi…

    • Yep that'll do the job

      • +1

No, don't buy this one as it has the wrong connectors.
It does come with adaptors but you want to keep additional connections to a minimum.
You want one of the two at the top of the list - http://search.dicksmith.com.au/search#?p=Q&lbc=dse-au&uid=23…
Usually it's the 2nd one (plug to plug)

        • I have an old cable (4+ years old) that I use to connect the TV to the wall. Should I invest in a newer one or will the old one be fine? Haven't noticed any dropouts on any of the channels but sometimes it gets a bit stuttery when there has been rain/thunderstorms.

        • The age of the cable shouldn't matter, it's best to keep lengths to a minimum and reduce connections.

  • Great it's official after half an hour of figuring out they have sent me the wrong feet for my TV to stand on. They are for a smaller TV!

Update it turns out the feet are for the 55X9000B

    • Are they sending you another one?

      How did you contact them?

I'm not using the TV til September and just checked that it worked and there were no marks… I didn't check the stand as it would came out of the box..

      • Contacted them by their contact form. Yet to hear back from them yet as I only unboxed my after work when their customer service was closed.

        • Hi turna,
I have been made aware of the issue and member of our customer service team will be in touch shortly.

        • @b.hunter:

Thanks b.hunter appreciate the prompt response :-)

        • @b.hunter: do you know which tvs sold have a problem?

        • @b.hunter: So I got a request to send photos through from Daynia of the incorrect stand. Which I sent through straight away 4 days ago and haven't heard any kind of confirmation or update on what's happening with my TV stand?

I have just received my TV (Sony KDL50W800B) and the screen is completely smashed :( When I first saw the delivery man bringing the package it did look like the box was compressed here and there and that it was far from a new box but I still had hope. When I start to remove some item from the box there was some metallic piece of the bezel that was directly in contact with the back of the TV. It did not look right at all. Without having the screen lights on, I could notice few long but not very deep scratches but when I turned the screen on, it looked like somebody was throwing some baseball at it!

I hope that the refund process is going to go smoothly. Any advice to make it less painful?

PS:I ordered my first Australian TV from Graysonline and it worked great for 5+ years. Maybe it s just the delivery man but there was also some packing issues as it was quite loose in the box.

    • That sucks! Definitely sounds like delivery and packing issue. I can't inspect mine until Saturday afternoon, now I am worried.
Best of luck sorting it out.

Thanks! The customer service have been really fast and helpful so far. I am still unsure on what they are planning to do though (exchange or simply refund). Good luck with your TV

      • Wow appears to be a lot of problems with delivery.

I'll add to it. MY TV was suppose to arrive on Wednesday but TOLL IPEC are unable to locate it. Last scan was it leaving Grays warehouse on Monday.

        • Mine was supposed to arrive on Wed too but it didn't. Turned out i had to call them and make a booking before they delivered the next day.

TV is good, all accessories included except the stand assembly instruction leaflet. Took me a while to figure out how.

    • That's unfortunate mate! I hope they get you a replacement.
I've got a message from TOLL IPEC on Friday saying my parcel was with the driver for delivery but no luck, it apparently went back to the depot. I gave them a call this morning and they said it is supposed to be delivered today, so fingers crossed here.

      • Not sure what is happening with TOLL as I had an ETA for Wednesday but it did not come this day. Then I called them on Thursday morning and about an hour later I could see online (https://online.toll.com.au) that my TV had been loaded in a vehicle. It still took 7 hours from the loading time to get delivered to my place around 6:30pm. Who knows what happened to this poor TV during all this time to get so damaged…

        • I am a bit annoyed with them as well for the fact I made sure i had someone in my place last Friday cause I didn't wanna have to go and pick it up in their warehouse but they never showed up. I have just got another message from them saying the goods have been loaded into a Toll Vehicle for delivery today, but to be honest I am not 100% confident. Did you hear from the costumer service?

        • @dundasbr: I have called TOLL few times. The persons on the phone were always helpful. The problem seems to be with the delivery part of things. I think that they can call the driver for you for him to give you an estimated time of when it should be delivered. It did not work for me as they could not contact the driver. He was too busy playing bowling with my TV I guess!

        • @blipblip:
I have also tried to get them to give me a rough estimate of time and the person said, anytime today :)
Well, one thing we can say for sure, TOLL drivers seem to be pretty good playing bowling with TVs I'd say!

    • +1

I have also been honoured by the brilliant TOLL services!

      https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6FW8jmxV4gMbDA0YlZaY2ZHLVE…

My wife received the package and sent me the photo.
I am still not sure what's the damage inside, if I am actually really really luck and the TV might still work thou :/

    • Also received my KDL50W800B this morning and also completely smashed! Box had a crease on one side exactly where the screen cracked at the edge of the frame. That whole side of the TV seemed bent.

Got in contact with grays immediately, they requested photos and sent me details to ship back via Toll. Called Toll, they were meant to pick it up in the afternoon but never showed up.

Pretty frustrating, hopefully it goes back tomorrow and the refund process is smooth.

  • I am having delivery problems with TOLL too. Is anyone still waiting for their TV?
Mine was supposed to be delivered on Thu but it never came, so I called them up on Thu. Apparently the TV wasn't at their driver's bay. I called again this morning, they still haven't located it. Is anyone in the same situation?
What can I do if they had actually lost the TV?

    • I am not sure what's happening with TOLL but one thing I am 100%… I'll never use them ever again if I have any other choice!

      • Yes, this is by far the worst courier service I've ever experienced. Looking at the comments above, it doesn't look like an isolated incident.
It's very frustrating, as I stayed home on Thu to wait for the shipment after calling TOLL on Wed to confirm on ETA. Now all I can do is wait for them to call me when they have located the item.

        • I have to agree with you. They have just called me to confirm the delivery will be done today. I made very clear I wasn't happy when I spoke to them over the phone, I am not sure if that helped or not. I am sure if they don't find your TV they will be able to get you a replacement.

        • @dundasbr: I hope it doesn't have to come to that, who knows how much longer it will take them and I do not like dealing with them. Maybe I didn't convey my frustration over the phone, I kept getting brushed off with we will let you know when we have updates kind of response.

        • @mlkc838:

Mine was supposed to arrive last Wednesday to Melbourne but it took them 7 days to locate the TV.

They do the depot checks in Melbourne and also Sydney. My guess was that it never got loaded onto the truck at Grays warehouse

    • Maybe you should contact Graysonline directly. They will know what to do and they were very fast to reply. As soon as I have let Graysonline know of my problem they organised most of the details with TOLL for my damaged TV to be taken back to their depot for inspection (to see if they can fix it I imagine). Then, I just had to call the TOLL with the details provided by Graysonline to organise a booking with TOLL. TOLL proposed to come as soon as the next working day (monday afternoon when called on friday afternoon). Will see if they actually come …

      • They came an hour before the time bracket I gave them during the booking :( These guys are a joke!

        • Finally got my tv!

        • @mlkc838: any good?

        • +2

@Chongy288: Finally had it setup. It looks and works like brand new. No complaint.

  • For those that received completely shattered/ faulty TVs and are awaiting for their refunds, any updates on the process?

Grays received mine last week Tuesday and is being inspected by their refunds team before they can process it I've been told.

    • +2

I received a defective TV - not smashed, but the LCD panel was crooked and the frame was deformed.

So two weeks later and still waiting for Grays to even acknowledge that they will repair or replace. Certainly don't think I would shop with Grays again after this.

      • +1

Finally got a reply that my TV has been confirmed damaged. It takes 2 weeks apparently to get that confirmed by a technician. The photos sent the same day were pretty clear imo.
When I sent them the photos of the damaged TV they still had this TV model in stock as "buy it now". So, I asked them to reserve me one but they ignored me and now 3 weeks after purchase day I am back to point zero with no TV as I will get a refund.
The good news is that I am back on the hunt for a TV bargain (50-55") unfortunately the EOFY sales are over. Any advice?

        • Hi,

Just thought I'd weigh in with my experience. Bought the 60 inch W600B. Getting it delivered was a few hurdles, no fault of Grays, but TOLL are as bad as people say Packaging was a bit cosmetically damaged, but nothing to suggest the TV would be faulty. Which unfortunately it was/is. Thin black lines running through panel regardless of input (or lack.) Getting a response from Grays was very difficult, exacerbated by the first customer service agent getting the wrong order. 2nd agent promised a call back which never materialised. I called back today, 12 days after first logging complaint. Was told that tech department had authorised return. Expecting refund, and hoping it will be prompt. I'm in the same boat as above, would like a replacement soon, but I think best to wait until end of year sales. No bargains jumping out. I guess AUD drop is not helping prices. Would be interested to hear if anyone else has had issues with their reconditioned Sonys from Grays. I'd be tempted to roll the dice with them again, I did have one a few years ago that is still working well.

        • @barnsleyh:

I finally received confirmation that the TV indeed has a cracked screen and will be getting a refund. Yeah the process is bit long and doubt very much that I'd ever consider grays again after this. Though at this point I just want to get my refund so I can go get a TV. Having just moved out I was depending on this purchase which didn't really go that well and can't exactly just go buy another though at least these weeks without one, starring at blank walls has helped me work out exactly where It should go.

Yeah really no bargains out there atm. I'm regretting not buying instore few months back when they were getting rid of the display models.
