    Where are the savings.

    • +2

There are too many models to list them all, I thought would be easier to call out a generic savings, but one example is:

Sony KD70X8500B 70 Inch 4K Ultra HD LCD LED Smart 3D TV - RRP $4699 Price $2199 (Savings 53% off RRP)

      • You need to add at least one saving into the comment section
        Been grilled for this myself

      • +10

WOW STOP THE PRESS 53% OFF RRP!
I bet you any money it was never ever sold for anywhere near RPP

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/176498

Looks its selling for 700 cheaper, from 5 months ago plus its a refurb.

        NO DEAL NO BARGAIN

          @b.hunter:

          Whats the recommended refurbished price

        • +9

          @b.hunter:

Not a fan of RRP, and "saving" off RRP is not really a saving, and for a NEW item. Saving should be based on what the product could reasonable be sold for.

Might be of good value for some.

Discountinued model and refurb, it could only be considered as fair price.

This TV has been replaced by X8500C in 65 or 75".

        • I seriously can't understand how your negative vote is justified. There are/were a few good deals/bargains.

        • +1

          relax man!

        • @dosada: You can't use RRP as a reason to neg -
Look under "Inappropriate uses of negative vote"
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:voting_guidelines
Edit, neg has now been withdrawn.

        • @luke73:
it went due to too many negs on my below comment.

Is there any Greys AuctiAuction fee here (was 17%)?

        ever heard of currency hedging?
exchange rate changes is what the "media" use to explain price increases.

      • +1

No we don't. AUD against the JPY has not dipped much since Dec.

      • I don't think this lovely person gets that one is new and the other is not.

I was at the last screen of the purchase and all I had to do was press the Place Order button but I bailed on it (I slightly regret that decision now haha) so you or some other lucky duck ended up with it :)

        • +1

Check out gumtree/ebay. Sometimes they go for similar prices even though they are used for a few months.

Haters gonna hate! I just picked up KDL42W800B for $429 plus $49.95 and I'm stoked. Thanks for spotting the deal!

      • +23

        Thanks!

      • +19

So what? Not everyone needs the newest model to show what a man he is.

      • +4

somebody's gotta offload discontinued products. Heck "some" discontinued products are much better quality than their replacement models. "some"! Not saying in this case though.

saying that, graysonline ain't my fav place to find bargains. I hate them with a passion due to a warranty issue that was never resolved a few years back regarding a server.

      • I bought a Panasonic THP50ST50a plasma just before it was discontinued for $1k. Happy to get my hands on a popular model for a good price. So what's your point?

  • +1

At least they didn't sneak in the old buyers premium I guess

  • +2

Just pulled the trigger on the Sony 60" 850 series, it was one of the best full hd led's of 2014, the way the 2015 TV's prices are going 1100 delivered with 12 months warranty is hard to beat at the moment..

Refurbished or otherwise as long as I have a 12 month warranty (bought on platinum credit card so an extra 1 year also) should be ok for a few years.

If it dies after that, then 4K TV's should be more a more mature market with more content available..

    • +1

KDL60W850B is a great TV — I was very happy with mine at $1690 or whatever I paid.

Biggest problem? Sony Australia don't have any replacement 60" panels for repairs! Mine's developed a fault, so Sony are giving me a KDL65W850C…bonus!

  • Hey OP, got any deals on home audio systems?

  • If anyone wants to resell the W800B 50" TV please let me know. I was after a TV under $650 for Dad's 50th and seems I missed out. I am in Sydney. Thanks.

    Great TVs!

  • +2

Have had the worst experience with graysonline with a Sony TV. First one they sent didn't work at all second one had a faulty panel. They also charge a sellers premium

  • unable to locate Sony KDL55W800B 55 inch Full HD LED LCD Smart 3D TV RRP 1399 Price 549 Savings 61% OFF.

  • 40" and up :(
Why's it so hard to find a 32" FULLHD 1080P TV these days? :(

    • because 1440p is the new 1080p at 32"

  • Sony KDL55W800B 55 inch Full HD LED LCD Smart 3D TV RRP 1399 Price 549 Savings 61% OFF

Dammit! All gone. This would have been perfect for my BigW XBOX ONE!!

  • Just got the KDL50W700B, awesome!

  • Is the KD49X8500B any good as a computer monitor?

  • +1

Anyone have any knowledge or a link to how consumer law applies to "refurbished" devices? Eg. A new $5,000 TV should last longer than a $500 one and as such normally manufacturers repair/replace after warranty expires.

So in terms of this, if one dies in 18 months are you downstream without a paddle?

    • Even with brand new, out of warranty with Sony and you're out of luck, consumer law be damned unless you're prepared to take them to court to uphold your rights.

      • Court? Wouldn't it be fair trading.

  • +4

    Brand new - not refurbished - KDL50W700B was $699 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/176110.

A saving of $50 for refurbished and discontinued item doesn't seems to be a deal for me.

    • +1

you're missing the fact that it is not available………..

      • -2

The fact that the $699 deal is no longer available does not alter my opinion that this deal is not a very good deal especially when what you are getting is used / refurbished item.

      • +1

… that only matters if this is the only TV you want. Most consumers consider a range of products.

  • Any bargains? :^)

  • with the 3D tv's do I get the glasses as well?

  • Refurb = half the prices again

  • +3

From previous experience with Grays Online refurbished products (Desktop Computers) I won't buy their refurbished products again.

    • Care to elaborate?

  • +1

Weird. This one looks to be back in stock again. Got it this time.

Can I get someone else to check?

    • Yep, Just bought it too, I don't even know why, I missed out on the ebay deal.

    • +2

I nabbed one as well if you are in Vic this model is eligible for a VEET rebate iirc $50
http://www.easyrebates.com.au/GetRebateForTelevision other models may also be eligible

Just completed application $60 back via a gift card

      • Wow, thanks

    • Swooped and gathered! thanks for the heads up!

  • How long for delivery in Melbourne metro

    • Haha considering how badly the op got roasted, I doubt he has the confidence to respond anymore :)

      • Uncalled for.

        • :)

  • People who purchased it at that price would probably be protected under ACL after your warranty run out in 12 months.

  • +1

Thanks for the deal b.hunter. I ordered the KDL60W850B.

I couldn't justify the 2015TVs being $2k+ at the moment.

  • Sony KDL55W800B 55 inch Full HD LED LCD Smart 3D TV - back in stock @ $549. Click through ozbargain link.

EDIT: Purchased one. Now lists as SOLD OUT.

    • Gone again

    • where? says sold out

    • Got to press the add to cart button the first time but disappeared from my cart after logging in and then got out of stock. And now I see thanks to dstambou that it's back again but gone only few seconds after I tried (taken by ryangoal I guess). Not my day! Well done for those who ve got a KDL55W800B!

      • I just checked this randomly a min or two before posting, was in stock so bought it. Literally just moved into a new place today. Everything is in boxes - and I needed a new TV. I think I might have been the one who bought it out of your cart - sorry!

        • +1

haha. I ll get you next time ;)

  • +1

Thanks op ordered the 55 inch one.

A warning to ppl with no experience dealing with Grays though, they are pain to deal with if the refurb unit has defects.

Last time I ordered a vaio refurb from them only to find it full of scratches, went through many hoopsto get my partial refund.

At this price though I have to bite the bullet…

    • Won't a refurb have the potential for scratches? Aren't refurbs sold on the premise that they are fixing it up to make it operational while skipping the minor cosmetic side of things?

      • Yes and no to your question.

I've had refurb replacements from Apple and Google for phones/tablets before, and never saw any scratches. So I must be spoiled by them to have high expectations on refurbs.

Also one or two minor scratches I can take, not when there are 10 visible scratches. On top of that some original accessories were missing in the box.

      • Pretty sure any defects like scratches need to be listed at point of sale otherwise you have grounds for reimbursement.

    But its in my cart!

  • The 79" is tempting me. What do you guys think?

    • Me too. I've been looking around for the price of a new one but can't seem to find it.

      It's long discontinued.

    • do it.

      • Slept on it. Decided I was going to get one. Damn thing's sold out!

        • LOL, good. I actually don't need it. I was just lured by the price though already decided not to get it as it's refurbished and poor seller's feedback. Now, I can't change my mind :-). Already got three sets at home, 42", 55" and 70".

        • +1

same, got up thinking…yeah F**K it gonna buy this sucka… had the page saved and bang…sold out…WTF!!! gotta increase me ozb force… buy now - sleep/think/regret later…

        • @docpol:

Why the need for a 4th TV?

        • @serpserpserp:

Everyone wants the 4th to be with them. Surely?

        • @serpserpserp:

Size and 4k upgrade :-). Started with 42" (now in lounge tom), then 55" (now in bedroom), and then 70" (in family room). So this would have been the next step but not in a rush, just seemed like a good price that's why I was tempted.
