Pink - New Cashback Site - Free 1yr Membership (Save $39.95)

1132

New cashback website - looks a duplicate of cashrewards but some difference. The cashbacks appear to be bigger but they hit you with a $39.95 annual fee. However they donate 40% of all Pink subscription fees directly to the National Breast Cancer Foundation – so you’re helping fund life-saving research just by being a member. If you join for a free trial by the end of June, you get 12 months for free. No credit card details are taken - you are just offered to sign up again for $39.95 after your 12 month trial has expired - no catches.

A comparison with the cashback from cashrewards:

Masters - Pink 2.5% (cashrewards 2%)
iTunes - Pink 7% (cashrewards 5.5%)
Asos - Pink 9% (cashrewards 8%)

Worth a go for the first 12 months I guess.

Wow. They suppose us to paid for membership fees after 12 months on a cashback site????? or no?

    • Hey friend sent me this, you can get a free 12 month membership - but you gotta sign up before end of June: http://bit.ly/1KbOgDq - I just did my first deal, you can get $13 cash back from Audible

  • +11

Paid membership? Even though on footer area it says:

Pink is Australia's leading cashback and coupon site with no membership fees and the highest cashback rates.

    • +15

probably copied and paste from some other site and ctrl-F replace then name with Pink lol.

      • +24

Actually that's exactly what happened it seems https://encrypted.google.com/#q=%22cashback+and+coupon+site+…

        • +1

Yikes, they could've modified their wording a little!

      • +5

they had 3% ebay cashback and they just reduced it to 2% today as soon as they got their customers. So conclusion is they are doing a business nothing more. nothing related to pink!

        • Yep, was 3% yesterday and now 2% today.
Only reason i signed up was for the 3% ebay.

        • -5

@skill1414: I feel so pitty for those who paid $40 for this site membership and now they have only 2% cashback on eBay! hahaha

        • @shamid202: How would anyone pay $40? They are not accepting payments now.

    • +4

I think the owner is an OzBargainer! They just removed the comment in the footer!

    • +22

Umm, why? Because I posted the deal? Website has nothing to do with me….

      • I can't see any reason why you've been negged…. Unless you've somehow subtly indicated you're associated and I've miss it..?

  • +1

The whole website layout and content is the same as cashrewards

    • +4

Yeah possibly same company. I guess they figured if they have mainly male customers with cashrewards, they could partner with the breast cancer foundation, make everything PINK, get a bunch of fashion stores on board and grab the other half of the market.

      • +3

So basically they're the Priceline of coupon sites ;)

        • CW has Priceline cashback. I wonder if you can cashback this mob's fees haha

  • Yea the layout looks identical to CashRewards…
    Oh well. Signed up anyway!

  • My Available Rewards
Rewards that have been confirmed by the store and are available for payment. This usually takes between 4-12 weeks from your date of purchase however travel bookings may not be confirmed until 4 - 8 weeks after the completion of travel.

    How does this stack up?

    • if you purchase something in June, you dont get cashback for 4-12 weeks.

If you purchase a travel booking in June, and it is for travel in October, you need to wait 4-8 weeks after you complete your travel in October (and not the 4-12 weeks after you purchase it in June)

      • +1

Except some sites (like Groupon and Avis) take months. I completed a car rental with Avis in January and am still waiting for payment from Cashrewards. Qwibble shows average payout times of companies and says Avis's average is 4 months. If you still have payments pending on Pink at the end of your free year, would you need to pay the membership to still have a chance to get them?

  • +17

worth switching if you spend $4000 on ebay each year.

  • +1

Cashrewards in pink :-). Might as well give it a try for free. Cheers, OP! :-)

  • +5

I pay a web site up front in the hopes that I will:

    A) Spend enough to eventually recoup the membership fee
    B) Hopefully see it last long enough to get my membership fee back

    Umm, nope. Not buying it.

ING doesn't ask you for money up front before offering a 2% cash back on paywave purchases.

    • Paywave eBay….

    • +3

Well they do actually. A $1000 transfer into ING per month.

      • +3

No fees though. That $1000 is still legally yours and you can withdraw or spend it whenever you like.

        • +1

True, but I guess saying "ING doesn't ask you for money up front" is not technically incorrect.

  • +14

CashRewards is run by ShopGo, and they provide customised solutions for organisations, i.e. white-labelled cashback sites. Pink has been listed under Who it's working for. So yes National Breast Cancer Foundation owns the domain, but ShopGo/CashRewards provide the backend technology.

  • +8

I see the cashout rate is $5.01. I guess if you have $5 or less by the time your membership runs out then it will be forfeited. A bit of a risk.

  • I am assuming that you don't get to deduct the value of the donation to breast cancer?

    • +2

Not when they want to ;)

Maybe the site owner is a WWC fan and happy to see matilda progress then offer us this???

cashback rate is better than cashreward but member fees

    • +2

      ?

  • Wow the discounts are so great, bigger and better bargains, you save so much more with this site compared to cash rewards, every % is alot of money when added at the end.

  • +1

Why are people complaining about fees 12 months ahead of time? Just take advantage now, they're not even taking your credit card details, so you won't get stung, if you forget.

  • +2

Ebay appears to have 2% cashback at my end.. maybe it was a typo!

    • +2

      eBay Australia

      Bonus 2.00% Cashback

yeah only 2% for ebay aswell

    • +3

Yeah. They are reporting different discounts in different places.
I'll not waste my time with another cashrewards like account.

  • Thanks, signed up.

  • +1 from me.

  • thanks OP signed up

    No Dan murphy *sad *

    • haha that would be awesome!

    • +1

I got that as well, I wonder if we all got the "invitation" to give them $100. This seems like a better deal than the above but I'm still not biting.

  • So, how is this than cash rewards? I signedup because of eBay 3%, but upon logging in, it's 2%…

  • +7

The cashbacks appear to be bigger but they hit you with a $39.95 annual fee. However they donate 40% of all Pink subscription fees directly to the National Breast Cancer Foundation

$39.95 upfront is a great business sense for Pink. Like Costco they bank in fees upfront. For most people it is not going to be worth it given their cashback is only marginally higher than other sites.

5% cashback on every featured retailer and I would be interested in paying the fee.

Might as well avoid and donate to National Breast Cancer Foundation yourself. This way its tax deductible for you.

By giving money to Pink all you are doing is offsetting their tax liability. Smart business by them - disadvantage for you!

    • -1

use the site for a year and then go else where. hardly a reason to neg.

      • +1

As Neil said earlier it's not worth the risk.

        • +1

          it's not worth the risk.

No one is forcing you to use this.

        • +6

The "risk" he was referring to was that if you earn only $5 or less, you'll lose out on it.

IMHO, if you're only earning $5 from Pink or CashRewards, you're not doing it right. ;)

  • ebay was 3% but now 2% since posting to ozbargain? I smell a scam

    • What is the scam?

  • +5

How can we sure this business donate xx% of fees raised too charity?

Maybe it's xx% net income after 200k directors fees.

Without audited financial reports, words from these business really doubt.

If you want to donate money, please donate to pink breast cancer group directly.

Also, don't risk lose the money back you earned in the first year. If it's less than the theeshold, it may be eaten by Pink.

Personally no bargain here given free access fee cashback sites around.

    • +1

Exactly. Companies like to have these "donate to charity" promos as a feel good thing for their customers.

Unless they are a public company this isn't transparent. A pledge doesn't necessarily result in an action.

The Ozbargain hype effect sometimes results in much effort for little gain :)

  • Hmmm David Jones is 7% cashback… nice deal if your buying something big!
    I signed up!

    • +2

Its 7% at Cash Rewards and has been 14% previously.

      • +2

Waaa??? it was 14% cashback for anything purchased online from DJ's? I'm suprised this wasn't wide spread, we could have been scoring 14% off mac (whether it was RRP or on sale prices)…. I'm kicking myself that I didn't know earlier!

  • +1

I can't believe this post has 100 upvotes.
What does it offer that others don't already offer for free ?
Are people just really bad at arithmetic ? For the 1 to 1.5% extra they're offering (that can be withdrawn at any time without notice), you would have to spend up to $4000 at just the limited stores with better rates, to just break even.
There is no way I'll be spending that much at that limited range of stores in the next 12 months.

    Makes no sense to me

    • to just break even.

Evidently you didn't realize that the first year is free.
Get the extra cashback, then go back to cashrewards after the year is up.

      Makes no sense to me

Well, not all services are catered to your own personal wants and needs. It doesn't have to make sense to you, but it might make sense to other people.

    • +2

OzBargain hype bro. Anything "free" is a bargain even if it ends up costing your time/effort and may not eventually come to fruition.

      • -1

You obviously were late to the party. When it was first posted, it was just like cashrewards but a bit better. For people who spend a lot on ebay, it's worth something. Just because it wasn't relevant to you doesn't mean it's not relevant to others.

Later on the deal changed, but people have already voted. Relax, no need to be so uptight about it.

  • eBay cashback now completely gone.

    http://www.pink.org.au/ebay-australia

Sorry, unfortunately this page is no longer available.
However, we do have thousands of other stores to choose from.

  • Just tried my first cashback with Pink for Groupon tonight. We'll see if it goes through.

On another note, I'm struggling to understand why the last few comments on this are so negative. Yes, CashRewards is always free. Yes, eBay was 3%. If you want to accuse them of baiting and switching I can accept that too, but the fact is the other cashbacks for other sites are still higher than CashRewards (such as 5% vs CashRewards 4.25%, or HotelClub 7% vs CashRewards 6%).

I would probably agree that this isn't "worth" 100+ positive votes though.

    • Then your positive vote is part of the problem :P

I would say most people on this site just +ve without thinking. Yes i'm guilty of it myself. I use +ve's as "bookmarks" for deals I want to refer back to later. When I realise they are not a good deal I fail to waste time in revoking.

      Caveat Emptor!

  • Anyone know when will pink end their Free TRIAL 12 month membership special offer? the expiry date on their sign up page is change as each day goes on???

    • It now says 30-day free trial now. $3.95/monthly after that with no contract.

If you're booking hotels with it, it's probably worth it even with that monthly fee.
I booked a hotel through pink.org.au for booking.com ($67 for one night). pink.org.au said it would pay $16 cashback per transaction. Got an email for it from pink shortly afterwards confirming it. Awesome deal.

      For reference, CashRewards was $12.
Interestingly I am now checking both CashRewards and pink.org.au to double check the cashback value and it seems to no longer be there on both sites..

      • Yeh. I joined on 30/6 so it is one yr free. had funny feeling about pink business plan… I don't smell good about them in someway whats happen later in our free membership…

I really like cashreward, happy to stay with them as long as possible. lets hope pink is not going convince others cashback site to charges fees for their business.
