You will probaly need baggage to take to a place like Fiji, dont forget credit card charges. So we are talking about $350 all up.

I would pay the extra $50 and fly Vaustralia, 32kgs of bags, fully catered and lots of legroom, velocity etc…plus their availability for their $199 fares are for most of the year. Forgot to mention getting decent service!

Just tried to book in April and the cheapest I can get is $500 return (including taxes)

Quntas also has a sale on to Fihi at the moment, but like this the prices depend which day you book — you have to try every day in the calendar to find the one with the cheapest tickets, and by then the available seats might be gone already.

also, check whether you can get insurance for Fiji — it's been a bit politically unstable lately.
