  • is the battery 4000 or 5000mah?.
Also how much of the 32gb is available for the user?

    It a nice price. $133.20 AUD roughly…

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LDFI-H6dEc

Comparison with the Vi8 version. Hardware identical except for screen (and looking like battery)

    • Battery is 4000mAh, and the processor is more powerful than the Chuwi Vi8. I can't remember exactly how much storage is free on each partition as I don't have my Chuwi Vi8 nearby, but I believe it's about ~12GB on the Windows partition left over.

      • Ahh ok thanks for that. I might go ahead & grab the Vi8 version myself :)

        • Good idea. We stock the Chuwi Vi8 too ;)

        • @Clear:
          Link please…

        • @mazuko: You can grab it here and as a bonus use the sitewide 5% off coupon GKBfan ;)

  • +2

    nice price

  • any reviews? this could actually be pretty dec.

    • This is a decent review. Definitely worth it for the price.

    Win 8.1 + Android 4.4

When is the new model that includes iOS coming out ?

    • +7

      When Steve returns

    • +1

Poor JV… downvoted every time. You might want a Teclast or an Onda. They have an iOS-like skin :P

    • Meanwhile, back in the real world, when are these things going to start coming out with Lollipop? (Or have they already?)

  • +6

Just letting people know you can get the same price on gear best using chi8 as the discount code. you can also bundle a case for $8.

    • which case? whats the price ?

      • +5

you can also bundle a case for $8.

        ..the $8 one

      • +1

you need to load the desktop version of the website then under the item you can add a case and screen protector also discounted. Then use the 'chi8' code at checkout. I don't know the exact price because I had other things in the cart.

        • It's about $1 cheaper on gear best. That's not including shipping.

About how fast gear best ships it out or how reliable they are, I don't know.

Then again, I could say the same for geek buying :P

        • +1

@plasmoske: Plus you get 8% cash back from cashrewards and use code GBNEW to get $USD8 off the price (form Gearbest i.e)

        • +1

One thing I noticed, even though with the coupon chi8 making the tablet cheaper on gearbest, there are charges for shipping that could make it more expensive.

At least on geek buying, DHL is $0 and only 3-5 business days. So that's a plus for me.

        • @plasmoske: didnt notice that, DHL shipping to australia Costs USD 5.82

        • @doctorwatson:

Oh right. It seems like I assumed something.

I got 2 tablets. And shipping was $0 for DHL.

For 1 tablet, it was 5.82 shipping DHL.

It seems like there's free shipping over a certain order amount $.

        • @doctorwatson:

The CHI8 code mentioned above is slightly cheaper ($91.45 vs $91.99) but also keeps the discounted price on bundled accessories. GBNEW bumps them up to full price.

    • +1

      And much slower shipping…

      • +2

        People like options…

        • +1

That's purely based on my own experience and the loads of comments in all of their deals.

    • mine is on it's way apparently, but I'm buggered if I can work out how to track the package.

      • +1

From GearBest? Is this the CA number?
I would also like to know how to track this…

        • Yes and yes.
Still have no idea, so am just hoping it turns up soon.

        • @linnaen:

How long did it take to actually ship from order?

        • +1

@bamzero: 6 days. Ordered 19th, email saying it had been shipped on 25th

        • +1

@bamzero: Ordered mine on the 24th - shipped out on the 27th. Apparently it has landed in Sydney today.

  • +1

Do this has any mircoSD slot for extending the storage?

    • +1

Yeah it takes a microSD card with support up to 64GB.

    • +2

      Supports 64GB TF

  • So the price include DHL shipping?

    • +1

DHL is separate, but usually becomes free if you have more stuff.

  • HDMI?

    • Unfortunately not, but the Chuwi Vi8 does.

  • google play store?

    • Yes.

  • Does it have GPS? Would make a great candidate for a car install if so.

    • Nope :(

      • Ok, thanks for the reply.

Still a great buy from the sounds of things.

        • Yep. I got the Chuwi Vi8 on release and the quality is really impressive for the price.

        • @Clear:

          Which Vi8 ?.

  • Anything bigger with roughly that resolution that you can suggest?

    • +3

The Teclast X98 Air II has a higher resolution and is 9.7".

Most of the other Dual OS tablets have the slower Z3735 processor, but you can look here and sort by screen sizes.

      • +2

I'm tempted to buy simply due to your attentiveness to all our comments and questions. Thank you!

        • Unlike a lot of other store reps, I have a genuine interest in this stuff and have quite the collection ;)

      • When does the discount expire?

        • Probably not for another week, but if it does expire soon I can always get another one created for you. Infact anyone can ask me for a coupon on anything.

        • @Clear:

Will take you up on that, can you do anything on this - http://www.geekbuying.com/item/Teclast-X98-Air-3G-Dual-OS-In…

        • @Clear: When trying to purchase two tablets the discount remains the same. Of 9.99AUD do i have to do two separate orders?

        • @rakkihizoku: Looks like a site glitch. I'll see if it can be fixed, otherwise it will probably have to be two separate.

        • @rakkihizoku: Alright just spoke with Geekbuying staff and they said that you'll have to make 2 separate orders.

        • @pilotg2: Best I could get was $5 off with ZPJYTPDR.

    • Maybe a Pipo W3F? I'm sure I saw it for ~US$148 last week on one of these sites, but might have been a special price as can't seem to find it now.

    • +1

      Nice ones

    • Don't think that's Dual OS though.

      • Yeah i know but the specs and the price…. :D

  • Any other discounts for ordering two?

    • Just the free DHL I believe.

  • When will this get Android Lollipop? Also, what accessories do you guys have, such as cases? How do you root this? Also, any custom rom support for this?

    • I have not heard anything about Lollipop for this yet. Official cases for the tablet are on the way. As the tablet is fairly new, I haven't seen anything on root or custom roms, but they will come along soon.

  • +2

I just wish Chinese manufacture would start to make a model with dedicated DC charging port and Full size USB3.

    • Surprisingly the cheap ~$40 generic tablets have full sized DC charging ports. Unfortunately not many have jumped on the Intel Atoms that support USB 3.0.

    • we had one of those units with a special charger port. acer. the charger plug started to leak glue a few months and stopped charging. it was binned when the batt dropped to 0% and replaced by a nexus 7.

  • sorry my stupid questions, but with just 32Gb storage, how are you going to use the remaining storage for other progams/apps? Am i missing something?

    • You get about ~10GB free in the Windows side and ~7GB in the Android side. Microsoft has compressed Windows 8.1 so it can be installed on devices with 16GB of storage.

      • Thanks Clear, purchased. Personally I will probably delete Android to make more space for Windows.

  • so with that 10Gb storage, i can install ANY programs just like Desktop version?

    • Yes that's correct. It runs Windows 8.1 with Bing, which is exactly the same as Windows 8.1 Standard except for the name.

  • Any recommended keyboard cases?

  • For gearbest, does anyone know if we can still get cashrewards cashback if we use the coupon code? It's not listed on the cashrewards site (http://www.cashrewards.com.au/gearbest), where it says "If you use a coupon code that is not listed on this site, rewards may not be payable". Has anyone tried using a coupon code not listed but still received cashback?

  • +1

So mine turned up from the last deal (a little cheaper) and so did the 128gb sdcard from TA's big post.
Despite it saying it will only support 64gb ones, here are the results…..

Warning: Only 121908 of 121909 MByte tested.
    Test finished without errors.
You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again.
    Writing speed: 12.0 MByte/s
    Reading speed: 18.1 MByte/s
    H2testw v1.4

Good right? …well at-least not too bad.

    • I couldn't find an earlier, cheaper deal for this tablet. Good to see 128GB microSD works in tab. Not sure why someone negg'd your comment. Helped me.

  • Also I think the 80ish gram weight diff from an ASUS Note 8 is due to the lack of glass over the screen. It has plastic and it will push against the display if pressed too hard (and by too hard, I don't mean that hard at all), and can even stick to it. It looks terrifying when it comes apart, the area goes all white for a second. Mine came with it sticking to it but after a few minutes of being on it popped apart.

  • can this unit powerful enough to be used to admin ps back-office?
or should i get something like https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/200526?
    thanks.

    • Would be powerful enough as they both have the same Intel processor and RAM. As long as you're not running too many resource intensive applications at once it should be fine. I'd recommend the Teclast X98 if you intend on having it connected to a monitor as it has HDMI out.

  • What's the actual processing time on this item for dispatch? and is it in stock?

Your site says 2 to 7 days? is that right? and is that business days?

    • Processing time is typically up to a week in business days.

  • what case can you recommend for children 8 and younger?

    • As it's quite a new tablet the only case that is out is a leather cover case. I've yet to see a tough case that you'd typically find with an iPad or Samsung.

  • clear, i just put in an order, but forgot to add shipping insurance. can you please help?
    cheers.

    • The best I can do is point you in the right direction. Email [email protected] with your order number and let them know.

      • thanks for that.

Did u pay for express shipping? 2 days and its already in Sydney?

        • @rakkihizoku: Tracking can sometimes be a little confusing. I think that just means the destination has been confirmed. Normally says it has arrived in destination country.

        • @rakkihizoku:

like @plasmoske said. geek buying upgrades the shipping from registered post to dhl for "free" when you spend usd$xxx. very good service, price and fast shipping.

now lets see how this unit performs.

        • @whooah1979: Damn i should've opt in for DHL shipping, who knows how long til mine comes

  • Hi rep if I order one today do you think I will get it by 30th of July? Shipping address is in Sydney Australia

    • If it's with express shipping then you will (DHL, TNT, EMS).

  • How much extra will express shipping cost please? And how much faster is it?

    • Actual price is determined at checkout, but it should be <$10 USD. After processing which can typically take up to a week you're looking at ~3 days shipping DHL and TNT, while with EMS it's about a week.

      • Hi,

I just placed an order for the Chuwi Hi8 tablet on order #3400417

However, I forgot to add the below case in the same order:

        http://www.geekbuying.com/item/Special-Leather-Cover-Case-fo…

Is there any chance you can please help me add on the case below to the order so I don't have to pay additional shipping fee and also can get the tablet with the case?

        Thanks
