How much to price cold drinks in convenience store?

Hi

For a convenience store in the city, what prices should I set for drinks? I'm on the expensive part if town where prices are on the top end.

Do these sound reasonable?

600ml coke/pepsi $4.40
600ml Gatorade $3.95
600ml Mt Franklin/cool ridge water $3.00
375ml Cans drink $2.50
600ml Peach drink $3.95
250ml Red bull $4.40

I'm not sure on red bull. Is $4.40 too cheap?

What about Gatorade? I'm thinking $3.95 is too cheap.

Are you trying to give OzBargainers aneurysms?
I mean, I know in theory there are shops that sell individual drinks at inflated prices, but posting them here without a trigger warning is pretty upsetting!
As for real advice, just go round the corner to the nearest competition and see what they are charging and decide if what they are charging is fair (don't tell the ACCC!)

  • What city are you talking about?

    • Sydney

I definitely don't think the Red Bull is too cheap for just a 250ml can, probably a bit on the expensive side?

Yeah, I thought so to! 4pack at coles servo for $8

What does this mean, "too cheap"? I have not heard this phrase before.

    • As an Ozbargainer, the only thing that's too cheap is me.

I'm too cheap to afford $4 dollar gatorade…

Way too cheap, should double prices at least, maybe even triple.

Have different prices depending on day, on a Saturday night, charge 20 bucks for a drink, also offer beer etc, maybe kebabs too

take a dollar of all the prices.

You'll obviously be offering a discount to card-carrying OzBargain members? ^_^

if you want our opinion then put an Ozbargain sticker next to the register. any time someone comes in and buys a drink and recognizes the sticker then you have to sell them the drink at cost + 10%.

if you agree to those conditions then we'll give you our opinion on pricing.

Hmm, your'e on a bargain website and you're asking if $7.33 a litre is a reasonable price for Coke?

Any proper Ozbargainer would be carrying around a 13c can which they got from Woolworths a couple of months ago

    • Hi check how much 600mk coke is at woolies in the fridge section. You'll see its near the $4 mark

        That's why we don't buy 600ml bottles :)
Keep in mind that our price expectations may be a bit distorted from the general public…

  • $4 for the 600ml coke, gatorade, peach drink, $3.50 for red bull, $3 for water and $2.50 for cans.

Better to have easy pricing, most people round up to the nearest dollar anyway.

  • go have a look at few cafe's pricing of those drinks.

add 20-50 cents on top of those prices.

I think you can guarantee none of us will be shopping at your store

    • When you're in the city, you can get cheap bottled drinks from the Asian grocery stores, like Miracle or whatnot.

E.g a bottle of Aloe vera or ice green tea is like $1.80 to $2.50 depending on the place.

  • A convenience store should make it convenient for customers, so just round each up to $5.

I promise to buy one of each the next time I visit your store, and will expect you to round that up to $50.

    Simple, really :-)

Is it just me that thinks it's ironic that this person is trying to exploit the consumer on a site that attempts to achieve cost effective purchases. Totally wrong to give this guy any oxygen on this subject.

    • counter intuitive.

  • Do you buy these drinks from Woolworths or Cole?

  • I suggest you sit outside with an esky, selling drinks for $1. …That's a huge markup for you btw, don't expect us to buy :)

    • nva mind - I thought we were winging about prices - didn't actually realise OP was intending setting up shop.

  • Way too cheap, you'll go broke. I'd suggest not having prices at all and making them up for each different sale. I.e. Paying with a $50? No change needed. Please tell me where this place is so I can re draw on my mortgage, fly over and do my weekly shop.

  • How about charging enough to make enough margin to cover rent and wages. No offense but u dont sound like you have enough business acumen to open a business
