20kg of fresh picked juicing oranges delivered direct from the orchard.

  • Hi Rep,

Which one is sweeter? Help me choose one as I cant stand sour.

    • +1

The mandarins are very sweet at the moment as too are the Navel Oranges.

  • Hi Rep,
I was looking for honey do you have 100% pure honey without adding anything, is it possible to get it.

    • I could be wrong but I don't think many honey products claiming to be honey consist of adulterated honey … if any at all. There's just no reason to add anything for sweetness or preservation.

Although if someone wants to correct me go ahead.

      • I beleive you can get raw and pasteurised. You want raw.

        • I'm glad you're not referring to milk!

        • yes it should be like raw, i am searching but cant find out how to get it pure honey.

        • @shmahoo: did you ever try raw milk, you cant find in australia unless you work in farm house, the taste of milk is like WOW you will love it.

        • @sajju:

Not so. Cleopatra's bath milk is (or at least was) available from certain place. Have never tried it myself.

        • @tonester: which one is pure honey thats what i am looking and confuse,

        • @sajju: did you check out the link? most of the honeys are pure and also raw or cold-pressed/extracted :)

        • @tonester: yes i did check, raw honey is $18 and pure honey is $10 per kg, i still dont understand which one is better :} and which one is really pure…

        • @sajju: besides glass vs plastic jar, they're probably pretty similar :)

  • I'm not sure sorry. I'm mearly one producer who lists my products on Farmhouse Direct and I grow citrus. You would have to ask one of the honey producers directly.

  • You don't deliver to WA?

  • Which variety is best to get some juice out of ?
The "juice orange box" I guess ?

    • Yep, they'll be your best option for juicing.

  • where is the $33 box? cant find it

  • Thanks .. Is it free shipping nation wide?

    • +1

We can ship to SA Vic Nsw Act and Qld

  • +5

    Thanks. Just ordered.

I'd like to support farmers whenever I can. As long as the price is not far off, I will keep buying from the farmer directly.

    Good on you, OP.

    • +1. Keep that scumbag duopoly Wesfarmers/WoolworthsLtd out of the equation…

      • So you buy all your groceries from the corner milk bar then ?

  • Ordered 1 box too, hopefully it is sweet and juicy.

  • Do the mandarins have seeds?

    • Yes they do have a few seeds are 2-4 per fruit. They are imperial mandarins.

      • Thanks for that. I'll order a mix then

  • Just ordered one box mandarins to VIC, hope they are sweet as the sales said.

  • OP, interstate postage alone on a 20kg box costs way more than this. Can you please explain how you can possibly be making a profit here?

    • +11

Farmhouse Direct is run by Australia Post. This special is possible because they do not charge us postage for the special period. What you are paying for is the fruit, labour to pack it and the box it comes in.

      • Great work, thanks.

      • +4

Australia post is about to learn what is OZBargain

        • +4

Well, all those packages from China have been sending them broke..

  • +1

Spud Shed in WA has locally grown oranges for 99c/kg

    • +3

How much is delivery to Vic?

  • -1

The posting rules say title should clearly indicate if a deal is limited to certain locations.

So if deal is not available in WA, then we shouldn't have to click through before finding that out.

    • +6

Sorry mate, very new to this and didn't expect such an overwhelming response. Also on my phone which makes catching all the details a bit tricky.

      • Thanks for fixing it up, and good luck.

  • Aren't all oranges from the orchard?

    • +4

Not directly, most go to a packing shed, then a wholesale market then a retail market then to customer. These come from our orchard through the post to the customer and saves a great deal of off tree time by doing so. The sooner you can eat them after picking the better they taste.

      • So when woolies say they are fresh, they mean fresh from the storage shed?

        • +1

I'm not sure what they mean by fresh on many things. The term is used very loosely by many advertisers.

        • @tlarnold: Thanks.

        • +1

          Apparently

"Coles considers apples can remain fresh, even if placed in cold storage. 'Freshness' is determined with regard to the quality of the produce, not whether it has been stored or not."

This came up when a Tassie Grower was incensed by Coles advertising 'fresh spring apples"and lodged a complaint to the Advertising Standards Board soon after, stating:

"This is wrong and not possible, I live in Tassie and my apple tree is dormant," he said. "These apples would have been in storage for months, they are not fresh. This ad is misleading and my wife would like a personal apology from Curtis (or cash)."

          The Advertising Standards Board said

overall the word "fresh" in relation to apples was not misleading. But the word "spring" changed the context of the word "fresh" to imply the Tasmanian pink ladies were springtime fruit freshly picked and ready for immediate sale.

More details in Coles in 'fresh' trouble again over Tasmanian pink lady apple claims

  • for sydneysiders G2U have Navels at 69c/kg

$40 is minimum order, but that would get 58kgs of oranges delivered (or order other groceries!!)

    • +1

At 69c/kg minus the cost to pack and get them there for grade 1 fruit, no grower is making money.

      • clearly a loss leader.

  • Thanks ordered 10kg of mandarins, i do love me some imperial mandarins :D

  • -1

What a great deal. It's just so rare to find good dairy free oranges these days. ;-)

  • OP, I have ordered 10 kg, but I want to change it to 20 kg, is it possible? I can pay you the difference.

    • We should be able to sort something out. Send me a msg on farmhouse direct and I'll chase it up tomorrow.

      • Thanks OP, I have. Happy to send the difference via Paypal.

  • +1

Just to clarify, the order is for juicing fruit which is a lesser grade than table fruit. As such, you can often find these blemished fruit (perfect eating quality) at your local markets for $0.99/kg which I know is available in Sydney. I guess the benefit to this is that the farmer would receive a higher $ value for their fruit vs selling to a packhouse.

    • +1

      Thats OK mate.
Happy to help a farmer when I can….
I don't usually donate during drought appeals etc, so this is the least I can do.

  • Just ordered the grower's selection box! Can't wait to taste it all.

  • is it expired? wow that was too fast!

  • How exactly does the bread get shipped all over Australia? Wouldn't it go stale before it arrives?

  • missed it! oh well - vit c next time

  • It's cheap cheap.

  • Any possibility of an extension on this deal for tomorrow too? I missed out! :(

    • +5

Sorry no extension possible. We were very fortunate to be given this deal by Australia Post for the given time. It was unlucky I only come across this site at 9pm. If it happens again I'll be sure to post earlier in the day.

      • +4

I hope our purchases have helped you - and that our snarkiness hasn't hurt too much!

  • +1

Orange you glad there weren't any bad chorus puns in this thread?

    • I suspect he was Orange-Bargained! But in a positive way.

I look forward to my mixed 20kg box.

      • +1

looking at the colour of this website, I'm not 100% sure that the OP isn't subconsciously sponsoring the entire OzBargain website!

  • Pity I missed out. The mandarins weren't cheap compared to my local fruit & veg shop (on a $ per kilo basis), but with free delivery and the promise of "fresh" fruit I was prepared to give them a go.

  • +8

Thanks to everyone who supported this special, we really enjoy dealing directly with our customers.
We will definitely have our work cut out for us to get this fruit all picked and packed on the weekend but we wont stop until its done.
We hope those who did get an order in enjoy our premium citrus as we the growers intended, properly fresh, properly ripe and unadultered (no wax or post harvest fungicide).
We look forward to a chance to bring another special or two before the season is out.
So if you enjoy your citrus it may be a good idea to subscribe or find us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram
    Cheers

    • given the popularity of this deal, next time i'll put the delivery savings in the title :)

  • +1

argh missed out. I remember ordering from you guys before, the fruit was great

  • Anybody had theirs delivered yet? Comments on quality?

  • Just got an email from Aus Post that "Your shipment from Online has been delivered"…
We didn't get any package though !
I suspect that it might have been the oranges.
What can we do OP ?

    • contact Australia Post?

    • Hi can you send me a msg via Farmhouse Direct so I can grab an order # to chase it up?

  • Reason for my question was I still haven't received mine yet (or shipping advice)

    • Hi, for some reason I'm not sure of tracking advise was not sent automatically as we'd hoped.
If you can send me a msg I'll check your order and find a tracking number for it.

  • I got mine just then and it did not weight 10kgs. Probably only half of that. Anyone else having the same problem?
