  • anyone got a suggestion for a good but cheap charger only? or even a charger with a couple of AA's. My old one just broke down - eneloops are useless without a charger! cheers

Any of these - they are not cheap but good quality:
      Technoline BC1000 charger
      La Crosse BC-1000 charger
      La Crosse BC-1020 charger
      La Crosse RS-720 charger
La Crosse RS-700 charger (Also known as the Voltcraft IPC-1L & technoline BC700)
      Technoline BC700
      Maha Powerex MH-C9000

Usually you can get them cheaper from http://ru.nkon.nl/charger/nimh.html

Top pick would be Maha Powerex MH-C9000, can get it locally from videoguys

Next one is BC700 chargers or latest one RS-720 (~AUD 51 delivered from ru.nkon.nl).

Cheaper ($20) but still a solid unit is Ikea Ladda. Review page - http://budgetlightforum.com/node/32448

    • Depending on how much you use them, charging them more then once a month I would read the other reply. But if its only for remotes and don't really want to spend money.http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/281364379916?nav=SEARCH

You can Google around and get them for less then a dollar if you're lucky

    • big w chevron charger currently $7, but probably can't charge single cells

More DSE SPAM… Sorry, I mean possible bargain for some!

Forgetting that it's all Chinese made to start with… going on recent 'bargains' you've got $11.25 worth of AAs; $7.50 worth of AAAs; a crappy timer controlled overnight charger which probably isn't any better than the BigW $7.00 one mentioned above; and a pair of single cell C & D adapters that you can easily score from eBay for a couple of bucks! The adapters are also almost useless being that you can only put the single cell inside. (Ever seen a 2000mAh D cell?)

For not too much more you'd be much better off buying a couple of 8 packs when they're on special (every other day), a couple of multi cell adapters from ebay, and spending a few extra bucks on a better charger!
